FRANKIE B. - 1947 - 2007.
Legendary Emero Frankie "Chivo" Buelna, usually known simply as Frankie B has apparently died by the sword. It was all over Pomona from the minute it happened Tuesday night but we held off on posting it until it became official. He and another man, Enrique Sanchez were shot and killed in Characters Sports Bar on 1st Street in Pomona. Born on 9/29/1947, Buelna rose up through the ranks to hold the keys to El Monte, Pomona and Ontario. While on the street and from prison, Buelna was a key player in getting his part of the world assembled under the blue flag and fall in line with various policy innitiatives.

What's behind his killing? Too soon to say. It may be politics eating up the old-school shot callers or maybe it was a personal. We know that in the space of a week there's been a spike in shootings and assassinations in the area and those may be related. There's more to this, but we may not know for a long time. Or maybe never.

Since this guy was a high ranking Emero and was in control of the gangs in Pomona, did he ever have anything to do with the racial killings and racial attacks of blacks by Pomona 12th Street gangmembers a few years ago? Did he give any direct orders for 12th Street members to go out and attack blacks even if they weren't gangmembers themselves?

Would people stop posting news stories that have nothing to do with Wally's current topic, or would Wally simply not let them through? It's tedious. I promise you nobody reads that shit. We know where to find LATimes.com or Google fucking News. We're not illiterate, and since we've obviously figured out how to log on to this blog I'm sure we can navigate our way to a site that compiles breaking AP stories regional or national. Stop making me have to scroll down further to read interesting posts about the current topic at hand at In the Hat. If your cookie cutter AP gang story is worthy of IntheHat lore, Wally will post it as subject. In the meantime, start your own fucking blog. Thank you.

Why is it that everytime there's a EME member metioned he assumed a BOSS. I understand that that certain areas are ran by certain people. But there has to be a leader or few leaders that really run the BIG SHOW. As big as the Eme is there has to be some kind of structure of leadership that goes beyond whos running certain town.

Yea I know what happened, the vato got shot in Pomona.
It was in the LA Times today along with Wally's reporting on the incident.

I'm flattered you think I might have the "real story" but
watch out for the "donquixotephobia" it can be lethal.
Hey I do have a headline for you though, Lou Dobbs says he is seriously reconsidering running for President in 08.
That would be fun and entertaining and would keep the nativists and xenophobes busy.

I think the number of years between his birth and (boo-hoo) untimely death would make him "legendary"..This aint some corporate board, this is the most cutthroat bunch that has ever been. His killing sounds to have been an impulsive act, but like the author says, "we may never know"..

yeah! lets get even less people commenting! this discussion should only be about Pomona and Frankie B! No post on anything else! Dont want to ruin the flow of relevant gang information and make it difficult for anonymous to scroll through all 10 comments! cmon stop it guys!

anyone see the history channel last night? Gangland: Code of Conduct on the mex mafia. featuring MR TONY RAFAEL. keep an eye out for reruns..

THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE ORIGINAL SUBJECT. I APOLOGIZE.

The History Channel had a great program on La Eme thursday night. Featured lots of video (Tupi stabbing, elysian park meetings, the infamous motel meetings, Mundo, & Wally) and a photos of Joe Morgan, Buff Flores, Mundo and many more in their "prime." Great stuff.

You should be glad that a certain menudo eating menso has NOT posted the entire news story in this post section. I don't mind scrolling thru one paragrah of a news story. As long as people post a link instead of the whole story I don't mind.

I did not realize this story posted by Wally, was also in the Los Angeles Times and a local Pomona news-paper. So I disagree with you about posting news stories, my complaint is when the whole damn news story is posted.

Just post a link and brief description of news story, and we will all be happy,

Great new book out by one of the ITH visitors and sometime posters, LA Times writer Sam Quinones.
Quinones, is now the LA Times "go to guy" on all Emero business it seems, but this book is a positive instead of a negative as regards to Mexican Americans and the immigrant struggle and success story's here and in Mexico.
The book is getting rave reviews
(6 stars on Amazon) although Wally/Tony and other "Encounter Books" writers like Victor Davis Hanson might have a different take on the book by Quinones.
I for one would like to hear Wally/Tonys reviews on it.
For what it's worth I also gave it 6 stars

From Publishers Weekly
Starred Review. Quinones takes a keen look the migrant economy—both the rural to urban flow within Mexico, and between the U.S. and Mexico—in these nine skillful, moving stories. He devotes the first, middle and last chapters to Delfino Juárez, a construction worker who left his mountain village in Veracruz to work at Mexico City job sites when he was 12 years old before making his way to Arizona through the Sonora desert, a journey that almost cost him his life. Delfino "wanted more from life than simply not to starve," and his pluck shines through the narratives that Quinones (True Tales from Another Mexico) layers with the sociological, economic and historical context of 60 years of immigration. Other standouts among these very fine pieces of literary journalism, include "The Tomato King," about Andrés Bermúdez, a longtime U.S. resident who returns to his native county of Jerez to run for mayor; and "Delfino II: Diez in the Desert," a nuanced portrait of the human trafficking that takes place at the border. The jewel of the collection, "A Soccer Season in Southwest Kansas," depicts the sport's transformative effect—both on the immigrant children and on the High Plains town. (Apr.)

[Why is this Emero "legendary" as you put it ?]

Although this question appears to have been both asked and answered already, let me add my two cents, if I may.

Given the very few number of made EME members (some educated estimates range from 150 to 250 in Cali alone), one can easily surmise that an EME carnal is a rare breed to begin with. He is a representative of his street gang and probably the highest placed leader of that gang.

Such a criminally significant dude holds the distinction of being a "legend" in his neighborhood by simple virtue of the fact that he is a made member and has "graduated" to the Big Time.

As the writer notes, having survived close to 40 years as a carnal means he did something "right" (criminally speaking) for almost a half a century!
Bottom Line: Most of these guys are "legends" already. ALL of these guys are EME "shot callers", especially on the outside and within certain criminal regions.

It stands to reason that when they
are assassinated or die from whatever source (Mike "Acha" Ison died in a bar in NorCal, for example), the term "legend" or "legendary" is almost part and parcel of their legacy.

Frankie "Chivo" Buelna was originally from Merced (NorCal). Mike "Big Mike" Mulhern took Chivo "under his wing" and liked this youngsters game attitude in the mid-60's and, according to an update from Mundo, made Chivo an honorary member of the Primera Flats gang. The logical progression thereafter was to recruit him into the EME.

Big Mike and Chivo were also armed robbery crime partners in the 70's and returned to CDC for that crime, both paroled, Mike became a dropout/informant and Chivo proceeded down the criminal trail to his ultimate demise.

Delayed greetings to Don Quixote and keep on plugging away, old timer. Gotta run. The History Channel will have reruns of the Mexican Mafia segment featuring Wally, Rich Valdemar, Mundo and others plus a well done historical piece worth saving/recording and referring to for training purposes.

The only two parts I took light exception to was 1)the reference Joe Morgan's "whiteness" being the main factor in forming this alliance with the Aryan Brotherhood and, 2)the depiction of Mexicanemi tattoos in some of their cuts.

1)The association/alliance of the EME with the AB had absolutely nothing to do with Joe Morgan. He may have contributed to it, sure, after he joined. But the bond was already intact thanks to vatos like Champ Reynoso and Mike Ison.

2)Mexicanemi is the handle of the present-day Mexican Mafia in Texas' prison system, which is unrelated to the California EME. The only common denominator, contrary to what some "experts" contend, is that they enjoy a common heritage from south of the border!

Peace ....

Mexikanemi(EMI) or Merecidos are often referred as Mexican Mafia in the state of Texas, and the show did not differentiate this, the EMI patch is Different than the EME Patch, although they may have some common tatoos, there is a huge difference. As one Heavy EMERO once said, they(EMI) go by quantity and we(EME) go by quality. Mexikanemi having roughly 3 times the members as the EME.

Further info on Buelna/Frankie B, I have heard he had close ties to the NF or might have been a NF member prior to becoming EME.

Kinda Off subject, but the reason behind the AB La eMe side by side is because of there less is more attitude. Most the other clicks wanted numbers and the Brand and eMe wanted for the most part guys that could kill and had some grey matter upstairs. Joe M , while he did tell me in Corc, that most my homies ( Brand ) were ruthless and that is why they ran together ( folks dont relize just how tight they did in the past) Remember Pupet, he used to hang with me on the Palm Hall Yard more then most of his brothers. Tough real gangsters know one when they see one. The Farmers just aint the same, as as far as the Texas Mexican Mafia, hell they might as well be Crips they way they recruit. You go to some of the higher security pens in TX and half the Mexicans on the yard are tip.... No kidding!!!

SPEAKING OF OLD SCHOOL DOES ANYONE KNOW THE TRUE STORY OF WHAT HAPPENED TO STEVE COLOTE AMADOR? AND HOW HIGH DID HE MAKE IT UP THE RANKS?

Can anyone give us the history of carnales from the Inland Empire?

Frankie B. was never part of nf and to the mother fucker who said he was a low life did you ever meet him if not shut the fuck up

Anonymous said...

Maybe 10rs ago Texas pens were full of Mexikanemi but not in 2007, and AB in TX aint about shit. Majority of the Mexicans are Tango, who might as well be crips since they recruit every new mexican and mix breed who hits the yard.
