"NO GUNS" FOUNDER CAUGHT WITH A GUN
In case you missed it, HECTOR MARROQUIN, the founder of a gang intervention program called NO GUNS, was arrested last week for being in possession of a firearm. As a convicted felon, he isn't allowed to have a gun. And even if he was allowed to own a gun, as head of an organization that calls itself NO GUNS, it would have looked hypocritical anyway. According to some law enforcement sources, Marroquin and his organization have long been suspected of working both sides of the street. In the interest of being fair and balanced, Hector's defenders claim that he's the victim of some kind of law enforcement vendetta to discredit him. Just prior to his arrest, Hector was tapped as an unpaid consultant to a panel of gang experts to revamp the county's largely failing gang intervention programs. The LAT ran a profile of Marroquin and his program in July of 2005. So far, the Times hasn't run anything that we could find on his arrest. Maybe we missed it.

While on the subject of guns, Sheriff Lee Baca is in the spotlight for handing out badges and concealed carry permits to a group of civilian Homeland Security "consultants" that also contributes money to the department. While no one has come right out and said this is an exchange of favors for money, it sure sounds bogus. There's been a long tradition in this state, and others, of rewarding law enforcement "supporters" with honorary titles, badges and carry permits. Rank and file coppers consider handing out "near legal looking" badges to non-sworn personnel as a slap in the face. These supporters have little or no training and they've never put in the time and sweat to become bona fide reserves. It's also a source of anger for law-abiding civilians who can't get permits because they don't have the money that grants them access to people like Baca and other top cops in a position of granting permits. As we've seen with people like Sean Penn, Robert Blake, James Caan, Howard Stern and even anti-gun Senator Dianne Feinstein, if you've got the money and the access, you too can legally defend yourself in a life-threatening situation. The rest of us, well, our skins somehow aren't as precious as those of politicians or actors.

WALLY, YOU KNOW OF A MEANS BY WHICH THE PROHIBITION ON GUN OWNERSHIP BY FELONS CAN BE WAIVED?

I THINK I FOUND A LOOPHOLE TO THAT LAW WHICH ILL KEEP TO MYSELF UNTIL I CAN OWN A GUN AGAIN LEGALLY. I FUCKEN HATE THAT LAW.

One of my commitments to the CDC was for possesion of a fiearm, ex felon in possesion of a firearm, and because one of the firearms was a sawed off shotgun they also through in manufacturing weapons.
Because the deal they offered in Municipal court was so sweet I had no choice but to jump on it. My skin is BROWN and I do recall a time when I was given a gun by a member of the LE community, only thing was I didn't ask for any favors, he was making a point.
The time of this incident was around 1996 and the hood was hot, alot of gangbanging between our neighborhood and the "enemies" hood, as me aand a couple of younger homies are walking back to my canton from the tiendita we notice the hudas have a couple of other youngsters jacked up and are talking to them, so we decide to cross the street and since I had all these chavalones beat in age by about 25 years I volunteered to hold the bag that the pisto was in, we walk along minding our own negocios and one of the placas calls us over so I put the bag down and cross the street, the head gang huda starts telling me that these youngsters are fucking up, gangbabnging and spray painting the whole neighborhood and that I better tell them to stop it or they'll come down hard, by coming down hard means that all the winitos in front of the store will be harrassed, and people will be going to jail for markas and 11550, somethings they dont usually enforce. I tell this huda that these kids dont listen to me, as this is going on another of the hudas walks across the street where I put the bag of pisto down, returns with it and ask who's bag is it, since I'm the only one old enough to possess alcohol I cop to it being mine, well this motherfucker reaches in the bag and pulls out a snub nose 38. special, and says well this must be yours too then. I nearly shit my cut-off khakis and my heart nearly hit the floor, that gun was not in there before, that was the first time I ever laid eyes on it, the cop ask the other hudas and they all say it came out of the bag and the bag is mine. I look at the homies and no one is copping to shit, here I am a 3 striker with 2 prior numbers one is for weapons charges, a good "deal" at that point would of been 25 years with no "L". So this huda that "found" the gun pulls out an old leather holster from his back belt line and says "today is your lucky day your gun fits perfectly in my holster" (his official side arm was right where its supposed to be)so these fucken hudas got a big laugh out of the whole thing, told me to make sure the walls stood clean and got on there way. I shouldn't even have to put this part in, but you can bet the hood didn't have any graffiti for awhile after that incident. That was just part of growing up in the barrio, its a game to the hudas, sometimes you win and alot of times you lose.
ok nomas quise meter pata de chivo.

SANTA ANA – Security will be beefed up at the Santa Ana federal courthouse today when the two top leaders of the Aryan Brotherhood prison gang go on trial on murder and racketeering charges.

Prosecutors will seek the death penalty for Barry Byron Mills, 57, and his second-in-command, Tyler Davis Bingham, 58, for allegedly arranging two murders in 1997.

Christopher Overton and Edgar Wesley Hevle also will be tried, but prosecutors are not seeking their executions.

The white supremacist gang is suspected of carrying out 32 murders over the past 30 years, and the investigation into the deaths has been characterized as the most intensive effort ever to break up the group.

Capital punishment in federal cases is rare. Only three federal defendants have been executed since 1940, according to attorney H. Dean Steward, who is representing Mills.

Mills has allegedly headed the gang since the 1970s.

"Some would say he's a ruthless killer. Others would call him a natural-born leader," Steward said.

Because of the gang's notoriety, security in Judge David O. Carter's courtroom will be beefed up substantially, officials said. A second metal detector will be added, and the defendants will be chained to chairs that are bolted to the floor.

Also, extra U.S. marshals will be brought in from other jurisdictions and serve three-week security stints in Santa Ana.

Most of the witnesses in the trial, which is expected to take seven months of longer, are expected to be prisoners as well.

Eight men and four women were chosen to hear evidence against Mills and Bingham. To make sure enough jurors were available, 10 alternates were chosen.

The allegations against the Aryan Brotherhood, founded in California prisons about 1964, are contained in a 140-page indictment targeting 44 people, Steward said.

"This is the biggest criminal case that's ever been filed, period," Steward said when jury selection wrapped up Feb. 22.

The overt acts in the indictment include 32 murders and attempted murders, as well as heroin distribution, spanning a 30-year period.

"Not even with the mafia did they go back that far or with that many incidents," Steward said.

Half of the cases have been completed – one defendant died and 19 others struck plea bargains – and the others are being tried in three federal courtrooms. The other two are in Los Angeles.

Only murders that occurred after 1997, when the death penalty was reinstated in the federal system, can be used to seek capital punishment.

Mills is facing the death penalty for allegedly sanctioning the murders of two leaders of the D.C. Blacks in a federal lockup in Lewisburg, Pa. He is also charged in connection with two murders at a federal prison in Lompoc, but prosecutors are not seeking the death penalty in connection with that case, Steward said.

Mills is already serving two life terms.

Bingham, however, is scheduled to be released in 2010, Steward said.

Al Benton, the No. 3 man in the gang, is expected to be among the 15 or 20 witnesses who testify against the defendants.

Benton pleaded guilty to assault in the killings in Lewisburg and was sentenced in 2002 to 108 months in prison.

Steward said he will argue that government witnesses can't be trusted, because of the perks they are getting. In some cases, prisoners have been promised transfers to lockups closer to home, he said.

He said he would also argue that members of the Aryan Brotherhood were merely defending themselves.

The prosecution's case is expected to take about four months, and the defense could take another two months. A penalty phase will take place if Mills and Bingham are convicted of the death penalty-eligible charges.

The four defendants, who are normally housed in the ultra-maximum security federal prison in Florence, Colo., are being held in a federal lockup on Terminal Island – a medium-security facility.

The Bureau of Prisons, however, beefed up a wing of the lockup to make a "six-cell suite" for the four, including two rooms to hold court documents.

Being a hypocrite, as embarrassing as it is in this case, isn't as bad as having an agenda that's corrupted and harms others, which I don't think is the case with this guy.

The American Justice System wrote the fucking book on hypocricy in this country, Wally. Or, at least the people running it did.

And, if you believe he's 'working both sides of the street', would you care to give some examples as to how he aids any kind of criminal activity, knowingly and intentionally, or is this just gossip amongst cops who don't share his solutions for the gang problem, a la the suspected reason for the LAPD's ongoing smear campaign against Father Boyle?

That being said, I agree with you on the police community deputization programs. Afterall, not even all sworn peace officers are qualified to be cops these days...

Seems to me the Aryans are being played brilliantly by the M. Let them help with all the current nonsense (they killed the first blacks in the pinta) then let them be hacked to pieces by the state in a mega-trial.

Seems like this all part of the takeover. Any dispute?

The Orange County Register

SANTA ANA – The declaration of a race war by the Aryan Brotherhood in 1997 led to discontent by dozens of members who helped federal agents make the racketeering and murder case against their leaders, a prosecutor told an Orange County jury Tuesday.

What was reported to federal investigators was a secret network within the federal prison system that used invisible ink to pass messages from one prison to another, and they often amounted to execution orders, said Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael Emmick in an opening statement at the trial of four reputed Aryan Brotherhood leaders.

Two of the defendants, Barry Byron Mills, 57, and Tyler Davis Bingham, 58, face possible death sentences, while Christopher Overton Gibson, 46, and Edgar Wesley Hevle, 54, face life in prison if convicted. The four are accused of ordering 20 murders and assaults.

"The Aryan Brotherhood, Blood in, Blood out," was the title of a three-hour PowerPoint presentation by Emmick. "To get in, you had to kill somebody or at least draw blood by stabbing somebody. The only way out was by death," he said.

Defense lawyers disputed the claim that members had to kill anybody or that they were unable to leave the organization before death. They said the government witnesses were mainly trying to work their way out of long prison sentences.

"The government is saying that fewer than 100 Aryan Brotherhood members and maybe 300 associates were trying to control the federal prison system with 189,000 inmates," said Dean Steward, the lawyer for Mills.

"Snitches and rats were brought together so they could get their stories straight" in three prison units, Steward said. "They were fed information by the investigators" for several years, he said.

He said the government's star witness simply made up some stories, such as the count in the indictment that mobster John Gotti paid the Aryan Brotherhood to kill a black inmate who had attacked him in prison.

"Everybody knows who John Gotti is. Him offering a hit has sex appeal," Steward told the jury of four women, eight men and 10 alternates. "The story morphed even more. It went from a $50,000 offer to a $500,000 offer. Gotti is dead. He can't come in and tell you it never happened."

Michael White, a lawyer for Bingham, said that in 1997, the "D.C. Blacks," many from Washington, had begun to attack white inmates in federal prisons.

"There wasn't any declaration of war. It was just a war warning," he said of the race-war allegation.

Bernard Rosen, a lawyer for Hevle, said the Aryan Brotherhood was meant to protect whites, not attack nonwhites.

"The original name was the Bluebirds," he said, but they needed a more formidable name. "The name Aryan Brotherhood was unfortunate."

The trial continues today.

On a much more pertinent note: I see this article is datelined Santa Ana, also the name given to the summer winds that blow up the canyons and fan all the coastal fires? NOPE - aint so. The original name for those winds was "Santana winds" or devil winds.. The popular media decided back in early 70 to change the name to the more generic Santa Ana rather than stay with the more ethnic Santana connotation.. WE report - you decide... OR more blah blah blah from cago moe.. Bandwidths free-- ya'll frolic.. Roll annuder one jus lak the udder juan.. Pass the wine don coyote..

Crime: 'Netbangers,' Beware
Street gangs are going online to compare notes and pick fights. But the cops are right behind them.

By Daren Briscoe
Newsweek

March 13, 2006 issue - With a seasoned cop's knowing eye, Lake Worth, Fla., police agent Brian Hermanson cruised recently through some known gang hangouts. He was soon onto potential trouble: someone rolling through the neighborhood in a blue Lincoln and flashing gang signs. There was no crime—yet—but Hermanson knew to keep an eye out for the car. Not a bad bit of police work, especially for a guy who hadn't even left his desk. Hermanson gleaned the tip from a few minutes spent browsing a local gang member's personal Web page. The 15-year veteran cop used to spend most of his days on the streets, drawing a bead on gang activity by reading graffiti and chatting up members. But that changed in 2004, when his investigation into a deadly drive-by shooting stalled. Some teenagers asked if he'd checked the Internet for clues. Hermanson took their advice, and found himself transported into the little-known realm of "Netbanging." Across the nation, street gangs have taken their neighborhood feuds, colors and rituals online. Hermanson eventually found chat-room conversations that helped secure two convictions in the drive-by case. Ever since, he's spent 15 to 20 hours a week scanning Web sites for clues about local gang activity. "For a guy that's working gang shootings, this is great stuff," Hermanson tells NEWSWEEK.

Like everyone else, street gangs are staking out a place on the Web. Det. Juan Colon, who trains gang investigators for the New Jersey State Police, began researching online gang activity in 2000. "But in the last three years," he says, "there's just been an explosion of this stuff." Some of the more established cliques, like L.A.'s Mid City and Clanton gangs, have professional-quality sites. Click onto Clanton's Web site and you'll find a detailed gang history, complete with photographs dating to the 1970s. "It's basically a way for everybody in the neighborhood to keep in contact," says the gang's Webmaster, who agreed to be identified only by his street name, Stalker. "We talk about old-school traditions." Mid City's Web site is run by a 30-year-old retired member who goes by Cricket. The site, he says, is nothing more than a place to showcase the "Mid City Kingdom Lifestyle"—which, if the photos there are any indication, includes a lot of macho posing, boozy hugging and throwing of the gang's hand signs. (After being contacted by news-week, Cricket, who spent some time in California's juvenile-justice system and has since earned a bachelor's degree in Web design, scrubbed the site and added legal disclaimers.) Stalker says his Web site is "not for recruiting." But intended or not, the sites have expanded gangs' reach far beyond poor, urban street corners. Now anyone with a computer can live—or pretend to live—the thug life.

Some of the gang sites are just simple, free MySpace or GeoCities blogs where people talk tough and live out their fantasies behind the safety of a screen name. Gang Web sites receive e-mails from would-be gangsters overseas who are looking to open chapters abroad. "I am ready to honour all the traditions of CLANTON gang," reads one gang chat-room post from France. "You're seeing the Internet turned into an electronic alley," says George W. Knox, who runs the National Gang Crime Research Center in Peotone, Ill.

But it's not just kids searching for vicarious thrills. Active gang members use the Web sites to communicate with each other and sometimes to pick online fights with rival gangs. What starts on the Internet can quickly spill onto the streets. Cops in Boston and Texas who broke up gang brawls in the past few years found that the altercations had been scheduled on gang Web sites.

The sites help the police in other ways. Some of them depict gang life down to the smallest details—the members' preferred tattoos, say, or how they tie their ban-dannas. "It's where I learned everything I know about gangs," says Det. Kevin Kuschel, who works on a gang unit for the Palm Beach County School District in Florida. Clicking through gang sites, he recently found an online photo of a 14-year-old gang member he had seen on the streets. In the picture, the boy was wielding an AK-47. When police searched his home, they found the assault rifle—and 14 other guns.

But the Web has also given rival gangs a new, less violent way to settle scores—flooding each other's sites with junk e-mail. Stalker says he spends hours every week deleting threatening or insulting messages from other gangs from his Web site. Not even a gangster is safe from spam.

Got to Get Your Guns Off the Street (Mine are Fine)
A former California gang leader who went on to start an anti-gun youth center has been arrested as an ex-felon in possession of a... gun.

The founder of an anti-gang center called "No Guns" was arrested after police said they found a gun in his home and his son, a reputed gang member nicknamed "Little Weasel," was taken into custody in connection with a home-invasion robbery.

Hector Marroquin Sr., 49, a former gang leader, was arrested Thursday for investigation of being an ex-felon in possession of a firearm, said Hawthorne police Lt. Tom Jester. Police found the gun when they raided his home looking for his son, 31-year-old Hector Marroquin Jr., Jester said.

The son was arrested for investigation of home-invasion robbery stemming from a December crime in Hawthorne, Jester said.
When guns are outlawed, only Big Weasel and Little Weasel will have guns. More here. The elder and younger Marroquin were profiled together in the Los Angeles Times -- during better times -- here.

This is interesting reading at: FreeRepublic.com

http://stopthedrugwar.org/chronicle/426/thisweek1.shtml

Go here to read about all the corrupt police/sheriff stories filed around the country, this week, Los Angeles is NO. 1, of course.

Looks like no one is immune to the "call of the wild," of committing a crime, whether for profit or "because it was there, why not?" These are the "educated" ones of our society, trained to uphold the law and everything!!!!

I'm starting to feel for the ones on the street who do what they do out of necessity, pride, possessions, turf, women, food, or whatever the need is at the time.

However, I still don't believe in killing each other.

Come on LE, Who can we trust?

I don't understand why all the ruido about Sheriff Baca passing out gun permits, shit it's been going on for many years.
And it's pretty common knowledge that many Jura's pass out their own personal cards to compa's or business socios that will state, "Mr. or Mrs. blank is a friend of mine and has been given an OK by me to carry a firearm for protection"
signed, Dectective Smith, LAPD
These passes are pretty common so why all the shock and surprise about Baca doing the same thing?

I'm packing my "Browning 9 mm" or when traveling light, my "Walther 32" auto both with machined triggers and Pachmyr grips. Hey fuck it that's the world we live in. If I get busted with a concealed weapon it's probably just a fine or short time, better than being caught naked in a life threatening situation.

On another note, I read in the LA Times Feb 26, 06, where the "Mero Pinta Jefe, Rod Hickman" is resigning due to political pressure concerning his attempt at so called prison reforms.
He was "Arnold's" highest ranking "Black " administrator.

He, (Chief Hickman) said due to attacks by the powerful CCPOA or Prison guards union from day one, (who spent $1 million to defeat a ballot measure softening the 3 strikes= life law),HUH?
And his inability to lessen the influence of "Prison gangs",led to his decision to retire.

A couple of other interesting items in this "Times article",
Calif Penal System annual cost to taxpayers is $8.2 Billion.
It incarcerates more than 171,000 inmates, and employs 59,000 people.
Calif penal system has the highest "recidivism rate" in the nation
Prison Union leaders are also pissed off at Hickman for his attempt to purge the "Guards code of silence" where misconduct by guards is never reported.

The "Prison Guards" also blame "Hickman" for the stabbing death of "Officer Manuel Gonzales" at Chino Prison last year, due to "Prison Chief Hickmans" lack of leadership and philosophy. Prison Union President "Lance Corcoran" stated "I'm sticking all of it on Hickman!"
Quien Sabe?
Prison Guards + Prison Gangs = Power and Control = Calling all shots, even who the Govt selects as "Prison Chief".
Curioso Que No?

What a fucking mess! That's why I'm packing, how about you?
Cuidado!

Yeh, a non-smoking ordinance is pretty much the same thing as prison administrators overseeing a bloodbath amongst it's inmate population, in order to keep the prisoners from organizing into one group with one unified objective.

It's the non-smoking ordinances! I knew it. God damned liberals! God damned ACLU!! Where's my moonshine?

As a convicted felon it is possible to have your gun rights restored, but it is dependant upon the type of felony you were convicted of, and how long ago it was. Generally, if it was something that caused harm to another or involved a weapon, you might be out of luck.

Some one said that the AB trial is like the one they had a while back for La eMe.
That aint no place near right. We are talking the biggest RICO trial ever here. You have no idea what you are talking about. This is just LAcentric ese talk. La eMe is for the most part a So-Cal thing. Every state having there own trip, and non of them get along. You look at Arizona, then TS or the five million ofther " Mexican Mafia's" in Texas. THen you have New Mexico who has some that are with TS and some with .... Well you get what I am saying. The Brands reach is not reall any farther it is that once you hit the Feds or CA there is only ONE AB. So the need for Federal charges is easy to see. There is no real need to RICO La eMe, even though they have. Most real court followers think that was a dry run to get the Brand ( I know , I know you are all going go on about much more everything La eMe is then the AB, but outside of slinging tar, it just aint real) I have been in Cells right next to folks like Manual Luna, even Joe M in Corcoran for a minute. I asked how the Brand and La eMe got so close. Joe straight said, " those guys are the smartest most coniving criminals I have ever known" He went on for hours about guys like Wendel Blue and Blinky Griffin and TD Bingam. Manual said, "Look we knew that if it really came down to it, the brand would be the only click that would give us a run for our money." He said "they have the memory of an elaphant" So we knew that back in the day, when the toads had power in the pen and the north was comming up. It was time to have a partner..

The unfortunate aspect of a sidearm or good long rifle is that they're utilized in certain situations to kill and maim.
real aficianados of firearms know their charm.. The smooth action and history of any Mauser. The unique movement of the original 9mm that being the Luger. One can wax nostalgic over the way the Ruger 10/22 would throw out 50 .22 rounds quicker than you could count. And then there's the smell of gunpowder, how if it was introduced proper, brings a glimpse of the Old Man with its scent, and how he instructed a young you in the most serious mode you'd ever seen.
Surely you, if you're lucky enough , recall your first deer.. If you're extremely lucky it was the first glimpse of death for you. You saw the "empty mirror" in the eyes of your prey. You momentarily considered your trophy's life, and you gave it honor as you cleaned his carcass and proudly carried him (or her) home.

Fellow commentors: Guns do'nt belong in urban settings. I recall some 60 Minutes or other with the pee-wee black kid holdin up his rifle sayin' "it's a AK".. Jeez that's scary! Especially if you know the muzzle velocity and repeating capacity of a gas-operated semi-auto Kalishnikov Chinese knock-off..

I'm knowing many of you have seen the results of these guns in the wrong hands. Seen it as you drive through another neighborhood shooting and the cops working it.
I'm sure you mostly thank God that it was'nt closer to home. And maybe if you have'nt seen way too much of it, you take a moment to curse the stupidity..

I had to laff featuring Don Q at almost 60 yrs lugging around a Browning 9 everywhere he goes. It boggles, but be forewarned, Don Q, you want to rotate the "weight" weekly so you do'nt get a hitch in your giddy-up or begin to walk all crooked, and smell like Ben-Gay or go see the Q uiropractor..

That aint no place near right. We are talking the biggest RICO trial ever here.

So .... hurrah. I take it you were expecting applause?

Most real court followers think that was a dry run to get the Brand

It's obvious who your heroes are and they are legends in "your mind". If your court following friends are familiar with AB proceedings, they should know that the feds have already bungled this case. If the eme cases, NF and other prison gang cases were or are "dry runs" for your AB heroes, then you would think they (the feds) would really have there shit together! They don't. FYI: there are twice as many AB dropouts-turned rats running around than there are AB active members. You should see the witness list, dude.

///Manual said, "Look we knew that if it really came down to it, the brand would be the only click that would give us a run for our money." ///

lol ... you a comedian, dude? The brand had there own agenda, the M had there's. I don't know how long youve been around but the brand needed the M more than the other way around.

///He said "they have the memory of an elaphant" So we knew that back in the day, when the toads had power in the pen and the north was comming up. It was time to have a partner..///

lol ... the toads. sounds like white boy talk to me, dude. Do your homework before you come talking that King Kong shit. Manual's credibity is and was zero and the M whacked him. Joe M would never have told you anything like that (even if you were celled next to him "for a minute") unless he was trying to instill some white pride into you.

If you want to compare prison gangs, compare the brand with other white gangs; don't sweat the Mexican gangs for they were banging and low riding when you dudes were riding waves. Hey, with that said, I'll grab my board and head out to HB.

Don't let the ab trial get you too excited, guy. I'm rooting for them too. Late.

You are correct. That's exactly what the article said. If you read the old articles about previous RICO's ..... Hell's Angels, NF, EME, etc., the same comparisons are made. RICO was originally designed to break the Italian Mob. After many successful criminal prosecutions, they decided to utilize such an effective weapon to go after your more organized criminal cartels.

By the way, they'll use it against Little Lulu and her choir partners if it serves an effective purpose!

With all due respect, I had to laugh at your comment"Surely you recall your first deer.If your lucky enough it was your furst glimps of death" I don't think most people here are deer hunters, and as sad as it sounds alot of people here never left L.A. or their Varrios for that matter. No disrespect intended. I'm from up North and I have been hunting a few times.Do they have places to hunt in L.A besides the streets ???L.A. does have hunters but they are people hunters. I don't know about deer.

AB Trials are nothing about race. You fella's talk about PC'd up like it's some form of acrobat dance between those who got got, and those who live blut und boden, blood in blood out. Bad things happen to bad people. eMe has it's laws in the land of the lost, and the older aging elders of the AB have theirs. Once upon a more distant time, the laws weren't so convaluted. Now, it seems the power play is so politically motivated that race is lost in the balance, and we now are spectators of a medevil sport. Toads are toads, no matter how you shake out the details. Things have been, and no longer clear. Gabacho's take care of their own, and it's a sad testimony to the way things are now. The one thing that stands now, is that some of these fella's are seriously nutty, and fairly deep fools that take this program to a higher level of chaotic forms of turning upon another. No longer are the trusts built upon frienships in the barrio, rather the unprecedented hatred for someone who insulted them, or didn't follow through. The AB Elders are aging now. Standards for ranking up are clouded by the wrath of woods seeking to climb the ladder no matter the costs, or disposal and dispatch of another brother. The youngsters have learned nothing. The rules have changed, and it's no longer a matter of barrio politics, respect or race. That has been replaced by those that "Owe" or turn...and disguise themselves as carnalgas with game. With so many disloyal cameradas masquerading as loyal soldiers, how can the outcome be any different?

Very curious as to why the Feds would push a case against the AB of such magnitude when in reality they have no case at all. Historically a Federal Prosecutor only goes to court when they have a sure thing.
I have heard, and here I am paraphrasing, that when the Federal Govt prosecutes a case they have some incredible conviction rate of like 98%, or something like that.
So one wonders why they would push a weak ass case like they have against the AB. Was it to maybe shake out some "rat's"? Was it to send a message?
Or was it more likely the old "Publicity is good for the career, even bad publicity is better than no publicity" and at the expense of the "public" various "Federal Prosecutors" got a little limlight shown on them and got a career boost?

And good post from Gava Joe who bemoans the fading "deer hunter" of old being replaced by the modern, urban, "people hunter" of today.
Who knows Joe maybe one day there will be instead of animal hunting permits and bag limits for deer or elk, a limit or permit to hunt in the city? They may already exist actually, doesn't the Jura refer to gangsters as NHH or "non human homicide" when they get blasted?
Shit how about the "Minutemen" hunting "wetbacks" on the Mexican border? Military snipers and soldiers in the middle east?
Fuck I don't know Joe maybe an old "deer hunter" like you is a thing of the past.
And don't worry about me Gava Joe I stay in good shape for an old veterano, run two miles every day, exercise etc; and I don't usually pack my 9mm auto on my person unless I'm sure of some pedo. It's in my truck or car. When pedestrian I pack my James Bond special, my "Walther" 380 auto.

Greetings to all, especially to Don Q whose wisdom and insight is refreshing as usual. I would like to address some questions and comment on the Wise Man's (Don Q's) comments as well.

TOPIC: Relationship and History of the AB and EME

Romanticists and folks who enjoy the "what if" game can possibly get a better insight into the AB & EME roots by understanding past ties.

In the 1950's and into the 60's, the prison gang that was kicking up all the dust was indeed the EME. Indiscriminate 187's throughout the prison system included the killing of a prison guard at DVI (by Doroteo "Sleepy" Betancourt and Frank "Moose" Bazure) set the tone for those early chaotic years.
In the early to mid-1960's the Bluebird prison gang, made up of white supremacists, became the Aryan Brotherhood, with Jack "Red" Mahone being the early day "Godfather".
As EME soldiers strove for increased power in the lockdown units (remember that ALL EME members between 1957 and 1969 were either lifers or doing time upon time in the CDC), their main adversaries were blacks and the evolvement of the BGF enabled the EME to isolate a specific group (the BGF) and place a "target" on them.
EME members found themselves relying on AB for unsolicited assistance in engaging a common enemy in these lockdown units. When I say unsolicited, I mean the EME did not request nor want assistance from AB or anyone else for that matter. What AB did not know (early on) is that many EME members resented the AB's involvement in their skirmishes because it "stole their thunder", so to speak. The EME did not "need" the AB to perform their evil plots. The EME "chalked up their own notches" by taking out blacks in the Adjustment Centers and other lockup units and the AB would do likewise.
The EME considered it a challenge to engage superior numbers and were highly respected for their courage. The AB became a natural ally as they (being far less in number even to this day) demonstrated their allegiance to the EME several times. The AB possessed similar characteristics as the EME and eventually patterned themselves as an almost "white clone" of their Chicano counterparts. To be blunt, the AB learned much from their EME buddies and they were more than avid students in the art of prison guerilla warfare. Make no mistake about it, the EME was peerless when it came to plotting out murderous schemes. The AB old timers knew this very well and this includes "Red Baron" Mills, T.D. Bingham, and company.
One memorable event took place at the O-Wing Adjustment Center in 1970 at Soledad Prison when AB members went at it versus black inmates. In this skirmish, a white gunrail guard took this incident as an opportunity to shoot to death (3) black inmates with the fourth shot (many AB members say) intended for a fourth black inmate who slipped and the bullet instead shot off one of Billy "Buzzard" Harris' testicles! Hence, the EME nicknamed him "One Nut Buzzard".
The EME inmates were meanwhile engaged in a spirited game of handball and one of the blacks who was killed actually fell onto the asphalt where the game was in progress and EME's Joe "Colorado" Arias had to leap over the dead or dying body to attempt a "kill shot"! Meanwhile, bullets were flying and ricocheting and when the dust settled, the black vs. white racial climate had intensified a few notches.
At around this time, EME leaders agreed that AB members were indeed sincere in their support and welcomed them with open arms. An "unofficial pact" was established in the early-1970's. There was no paper that was signed; there was no intermingling of blood; there was no hit that sealed this "pact" (again, romanticists point to the 1971 Chino hit by AB on Fred Castillo); instead, there were a series of "joint maneuvers" that gradually solidified this unholy alliance and their alliance became an "understood" relationship.
It was founded on one word: RESPECT. These two groups had an admiration for each other's cunning ability to "perform". One Native American AB member (Martin "Crazy Horse" Lewis) approached his AB brothers and requested permission to leave the AB and join the EME! Under normal circumstances, Crazy Horse would have been killed for asking to leave the Brand. But, he was given their blessing and "Horse" (Caballo in Spanish) became an EME carnal. He later died in a car wreck in Clovis, California.

Tales From The Tijuana Crypt
Part II

Some of the new readers to Wally's World will be reading this for the first time while others probably already "heard" this. Bear with me as I am only covering this (again) because of the AB trial and those of you who are logging on due to the AB trial.

While it is unknown the countless number of times that an AB member has supplied murder weapons to EME hit men and vice-versa, or have worked in unison with each other on "execution missions", we can highlight some of the prison and street activities that took place where both groups worked together.

1968: Inmate Jimmy Trembley was stabbed to death by EME's Gabriel "Little Sluggo" Castaneda and Art Chavez in concert with AB's William "Indian Snake" Titman at Soledad Central Facility.

1972:(Correction from my earlier post of 1971)- Fred Castillo was killed in Palm Hall for the EME by Fred "Snake Eyes" Mendrin and Donald Hale.

1972: Frankie Padilla (El Paso Texas inmate) was stabbed by AB's Robert "New York" Crane and was assisted by EME's Alex "Moe" Ferrel.

1972: NF member killed in chow hall by AB's Barry "Red Baron" Mills in concert with EME's Martin "Kato" Vargas chasing and stabbing (non-fatally) other NF members.

Christmas Day-1972: (Following the December NF hit on Cheyenne Cadena in Palm Hall) - Four EME members arrested for killing NF's Frank "Cisco" Villalobos and Paul "Pablo" Najera at Soledad Central Facility and wounded 3 others + two AB members, Robert "Bogus Bob" Patton and Richard "Buffalo" Hearth who stabbed (non-fatally) another two NF members.

1972: EME's Vincent "Chente" Gutierrez, AB's William "Indian Snake" Titman and Danny "Animal" Newton stabbed (non-fatally) two NF members as the EME reclaimed the San Quentin yard. It was not too long after these incidents that CDC began the final separation of North vs. South Chicano inmates.

1973: 2 black inmates were stabbed by EME's Manuel "Tati" Torrez and Juan Duran + AB's Bobby Butler.

December-1974: 2 BGF members (Truman Nichols and Arthur Harris) were stabbed to death on the San Quentin mainline and several other BGF received lesser stab wounds as five EME members were apprehended along with AB's Eddie Horton.

1975: EME's Adolph "Champ" Reynoso and AB William "Puppet" McKinley teamed up for a $39,000 bank robbery in Thousand Oaks, California. Both were later arrested and sent to federal prison. Puppet was later killed by his AB bro's in FBP and Champ is currently considered EME's Number One man in the feds.

I think you get the early picture and this is where the foundation was laid. There are over 300 documented incidents and well over 50 "known" homicides (in and out of prison) attributed to "joint maneuvers" where EME and AB assisted each other in the CDC (primarily), in the federal prison system (close second) and on the outside. To say that one gang is "badder" than the other is moot and irrelevant. BOTH of these groups are deadly, creative, influential and the respect they have for each other disallows comparisons being made, except by the "cheerleaders".

Having confiscated much EME and AB data in those historical early years and through the more recent years, I can examine a simple birthday card from EME and AB's in a lockdown unit and read the closeness these guys enjoyed while behind bars. Many photographs where you have, say six AB dudes and two EME in the pose, others where you have 10 EME and two AB and this interaction is seen everywhere - from the California prison sytem and throughout the feds where they can congregate and either legally (or illegally) get in front of a camera.

Together with the ongoing criminal activities (confirmed and unconfirmed), you have a massive conspiracy that would be a nightmare for a prosecutor, not to mention a welcomed "vacation" for the perps.

Addressing Don Q's observations: The "politics" of proceeding with high profile cases translates into "status", "glory" and ultimately promotions for those involved in an organized crime undertaking. Obviously, if you are successful (to ANY degree), there can be a bigger promotional leap awaiting!

(Was it to maybe shake out some "rat's"? )

BINGO, Don Q. As someone just mentioned earlier, the informants and witnesses do outnumber the defendants and one former AB member-turned-informant named Mike Thomson is probably just as dangerous as the defendants! The smart ones will consider their "future" and debrief, plus (as Don Q so eloquently describes) the message that is sent to others is that we will use RICO to pursue you and we will use it effectively.

In other words, Don Q, it is a win-win for the government. However, it is also a win-win for the defendants too. They get a much welcomed respite - a vacation - from the doldrums of a Super Max. Not to mention they will likely "walk". If they receive a life sentence, well ...... they are already doing life!

Give Don Q an "A". There will be other circuses and the Mother of all Trials will always be outperformed by some other act in the horizon.

Peace ..............

From all your accounts it looks as if the AB and La Eme are always on the offensive and the NF and BGF on the defensive.
Do the BGF and NF not aggresivley attack AB and EME members or are you just not privy to those attacks since you seem to be an Eme expert.
Thanks for the good info!

Good post as usual Jailer. I arrived at CTF-Central shortly after the bloodbath in O Wing. That was the original Soledad Brothers Jackson, Christmas, Pinnel maybe?

There was talk that there was also a staff killing around that time of a PA (Program Administrator) name of Conant I believe..
The man was "hit" at review board, I'm thinking it was one of those "rover boy" meets where they decide where they want to send you elsewhere because of 115s 128s whatever. Anyway this weird couple, a big ol jocker and his "kid" little guy were up for separation by this PA at this panel and they rushed the room together, one held the door and the bigger of the two shanked this Conant in the HEAD killing him where he sat.. It was said that the O wing fracas was the last straw. The wing was closed, all Ad-Seg went to Folsom or SQ, and they began a program to mellow Soledad out...

I'm wondering if you've any intel on the PA's killing or whether the homies were blowing smoke up my ass?

I'd like to run down the story of how we initiated "El Dia de Las Familias a Soledad" one year, I'm thinking it was '72..Probably the greatest example of political maneuvering of a sitting Administration in CDC history.. For a very short time the convicts (at least in their minds) got over on the Man bigtime..

Let me give you an observation which will begin to answer your question: From the day the EME was born until December-1972, not one EME soldier was killed by an NF or BGF member.

In the 1968 Shoe War, a Sureno (they didn't call them that in those days ..... just L.A. associates) by the name of Archie "Crickett" Gallego was stabbed to death by the NF.

In 1971 or '72, a newly-recruited EME member by the name of Bobby "Fat Cat" Zapata attempted to pressure a So.Cal inmate from Chino (his name was Danny Loza) in the San Bernardino Co. Jail. Loza got a shank and stabbed Zapata to death. He then locked up when he learned that another EME member, Steve "Calote" Amador, was in the same facility searching for Loza. When Danny hit the state prison, he was recruited by the NF because he had made a "good hit". Lost in their recruitment screening was the fact that he had locked up -- a no-no in criminal circles.

In those days - from EME's inception as a prison gang until the 1968 Shoe War - the EME and AB were indeed the primary aggressors. After the Shoe War, the prison staff "collaborated" with the NF to keep EME off the main pop.

Then, Cheyenne Cadena agreed to a truce with one of NF's Founding Fathers Gonzalo "Chalo" Hernandez (in an ironic twist, Chalo was also Chy's cousin!). So, between 1971 and mid-1972, there was this "detente" in effect which everyone knew would be shattered by the EME. It didn't take a rocket scientist to see the body language on the various yards where EME and NF co-existed. NF ran in protective clusters and EME "cruised" the yards either alone or in pairs and they looked at the NF and Maravilla groups with direct contempt.

Many of the EME's younger members, eager to "rock and roll" - Martin "Kato" Vargas, Ramon "Mundo" Mendoza, Louie "Rock On" Lopez, and others baited the NF on a consistent basis in the hope that the NF would "fire that first shot" to break the truce that Cheyenne had agreed to.

That's where the influence of other EME shot callers in Folsom sent the word to San Quentin and other prisons: hit any farmers as you see fit.

The following is an abbreviated list (not shown are EME on BGF hits) of NF, EME, or AB "members" (not associates) killed by rivals while the EME-NF "truce" was supposed to be in effect:

Early-1972: NF member "T-Bone" from Salinas was stabbed to death at Sierra Conservation Center by EME's Nick "Nico" Velasquez;
JULY 2, 1972: NF's Gonzalo "Huero" Lopez stabbed to death at DVI by EME's Ricardo "Baby Boy" Resendez;
SEPTEMBER 7,1972: James Lugo was killed by AB's Michael "Mickey" Manier in Soledad-North Facility;
OCTOBER 4,1972: two NFers (Richard "Bullwinkle" Medina from Sacramento and Frank "Diamond" Miranda from Fresno were killed at Susanville Conservation Center by EME's Doroteo "Sleepy" Betancourt (same dude who killed the prison guard in 1962 at DVI) and Eddie "Pelon" Moreno;
OCTOBER 19, 1972: NF's Leonard "Yogi" Leonard Arias was killed at CCI-Techachapi by a trio of EME assailants (Robert "Biggs" Mata, Salvador "Tiny" Vargas and David "Pelon" Gallegos;

It took the killings of at least(6) NFers (these are confirmed hits) to give them a "wake up" call. And even then they were communicating with Cheyenne to reinstitute the truce! Cheyenne, meanwhile, was "using" this transfer maneuver to position himself for an early parole on his gun possession violation. He surely was accomodated! Staff members, in the hope of halting the attacks by EME and AB throughout the CDC system, complied with Cheyenne's request to be transferred from Folsom Prison to Palm Hall and was housed on a tier that was controlled by the NF.

December 17, 1972: EME's Rudy "Cheyenne" Cadena was stabbed to death in Chino's Palm Hall by NF's Juan "Porto" Colon, Eddie "Crackers" Vindiola, Frank "Joker" Mendoza and Ray "Tiny" Contreras.

After negotiating with Cheyenne, the NF discontinued when, the previous day, two NF members (Ernie and Santos Aranda, who were also brothers) were stabbed (non-fatally) by EME in the Chino SRGC corridor where new commitments get processed.

December 25, 1972: Frank "Cisco" Villalobos and Paul "Pablo" Najera were stabbed to death by EME and AB contigent at the Soledad Central Facility.

From this point, it became virtually impossible for EME and NF to meet as the CDC had effectively begun the process of keeping these groups separated for obvious reasons.

In those days, the more aggressive EME had too many willing and creative soldiers and associates standing in line to initiate their version of a "genocide program" - this over the loss of face at the death of ONE soldier.

Additionally, according to documented records, since that time the so-called EME-NF conflict has become pretty much a war by proxy with the North pitted against the South.

For space purposes, I didn't bother to list the incidents (above) in which the EME executed BGF members and not one EME soldier was killed by any BGF at that time.

You might note that on October 9, 1975, EME's Ramon "Mundo" Mendoza and Edward "Sailor Boy" Gonzales were apprehended in Bakersfield for the executions of NF's Daniel "Woodsey" Reyes and Ronald Reyes. This was done in specific retaliation for the Cheyenne hit, according to testimony.

Lots of history and bodies flying and dying. Since the separation took effect in the early-70's following the Cheyenne hit and subsequent retaliatory EME hits, the polarization of these groups has served, ironically, to both insulate and empower them even more than ever.

Unintentionally, the California Department of Corrections has (in their noble attempt at preventing bloodshed) enabled, empowered and nourished the spread of this cancer we call prison gangs.

So, in answering your original question with my long-winded accounts, I would say yes, the EME and AB were indeed the overwhelming aggressors and were constantly on the offensive. Today, it is extremely rare for made members to come in actual contact with each other because of systems in place to identify and validate ..... leading of course to segregated/separated status.

TO GAVA JOE: After the O-Wing bloodbath, George Jackson piped officer John Mills on the 3rd tier of W or Y-Wing and tossed his body over the railing. Officer Mills perished upon landing. If you recall, that's when the shit hit the fan. Not only were the prison gangs doing their bloody thing, the black revolutionaries were taking out white prison guards.

The PA's killing was not connected to prison gangs but there was an incident in O-Wing where EME's Manuel "Tati" Torrez and Victor "Victorio" Murrillo took some prison guard hostages for a few hours inside the disciplinary committee until their demands for hot food were met.

The Mills incident was followed in 1971 at Q by the massacre of 3 prison guards, two inmates and the gunning down of George Jackson; that had been preceded by the Marin County shootout in which George Jackson's younger bro Jonathan Jackson was gunned down with others including the judge and a prosecutor, I believe. Bloody times.

I think they have a better handle on things these days. But, you know how easy it was/is for the inmates to get creative.

Peace ..........

Enjoying all these posts lately, and getting an A from Tijuas! Wow high praise from the "Maestro".

By the way Tijuas you have mentioned "Tiny Vargas" on a couple of occasions which if I'm not mistaken is the same "Tiny" I knew well as a kid.
"Tiny" was not tiny at all but even as a 16 year old was about 6'3" and weighed probably 350 lbs. Tiny was a big "Gordo" type who was two different people at different times.
Tiny was from "Lil Valley" varrio ELA and those guys were also hooked up and allies of East Side Clover in Lincoln Hts.
A well known future Carnal from Lincoln Hts. but claiming Lil Valley put the alliance together, TJ would know him, "Freddy Jasso" who was a master politician and arch criminal equal to a "Robot Salas" in guile and intelligence.
So "Tiny" and his camaradas from Lil Valley were a constant and valued presence in the ES Clover varrio then.
So tight was this alliance that a homeboy from Clover "Little Richard" Castro was stabbed to death by "Casper" from Lil Valley in front of a bunch of vatos from Clover and due to the fact that it was over a girlfriend nothing happened between the two varrios.
I was busted in Juvie and LP one time with Tiny,Chuco Castro, and Timmy Aguilar from "Lil Valley" and Chuco would constantly torment Tiny, bully him and dog him about his weight, Tiny would almost cry but on the other hand he was a ferocious street fighter who feared nobody.
There was a big mean ass Mayate named Booth at LP who scared the shit out of many with his aggresive behavior and loud talk.
One day he started fucking with Tiny, talking shit, making fun of him, etc; He thought fat Tiny was an easy mark and kept it up until Tiny rolled a set on Booth like quick as lightning and flattened the big Mayate devoladas.
Few days later after they got out of lockup and on the main grass in front of everyone, Big Booth the Mayate walks over to Tiny and sticks out his hand like "no hard feelings", and Tiny was a nice guy at times, reaches out to shake and the Mayate fires a right to Tinys jaw! Everyone at LP was watching as Tiny rolled with the punch and came back with a quick and hard combination that knocked Booth into the bushes where Tiny pounced on him and beat the living shit out of that Negro.
Everyone, even the Mayates there were cheering for Tiny and laughing like hell at Booth who was semi-conscious when the man dragged his ass away.

Tiny, Timmy Aguilar, and I were on the same bus from LP to"Road Camp"
and Tiny was real excited cause in "Camp" in those days they worked you like a dog and we rolled out on forest fires like the Adult Camps did then.
Tiny wanted to work hard and lose weight. The bus stopped first at Camp 6 Tujunga Cyn where some guys got off, but not Tiny, we then went to Camp 4 Bouquet Cyn, where the rest of us got off, except Big Tiny who was rejected by the staff due to his weight. The told him he wouldn't be able to climb hills and fight fires cause he was too fat.

Anyone watch "Walkout" on HBO tonight?

Edward James Olmos' film about the East L.A. high school walk outs in the '60s. HBO will probably be running it all month, as they do most of their movies, shows.

It was better than I expected.

And, no gang or gang member was referenced once in the film. So the Olmos haters here can relax.

Good source for our anger Gava Joe, I know it's off topic but fuck it, I got to vent!
I got a young family member with mental problems (bi-polar) who was suffering from depression and violent episodes. LE picks him up and gets him to a juvenile mental health facility, the phony ass, greedy, non caring doctors and administrators there give him so much anti psycotic medicine the poor kids drooling on himself and is like a fucking zombie.
I visit and all the other kids are the same, no matter whats wrong with them! Reminded me of an old folks home where these piece of shit doctors and staff drug the shit out of the viejitos too.
Like a fucking "warehouse for the damned"!
Anyway I try like a motherfucker to get this kid some help, and finally get him into a facility for troubled and emotionally fucked up kids.
DOctor there says he's gonna fix the kid up with better drug treatment.
Then the cocksucker goes on vacation! the kid is freaking out and won't take his pills cause they make him a zombie, and 5 of these staff thugs attack him and try and force the pills down his throat! They beat this kid unconscious and take him to another emergency mental facility where they were very good and understanding, thank God!
Then the kid's mother's HMO starts trying to throw the kid out because supposedly they only cover kids if there suicidal or homicidal.
This fucking HMO cunt wanted to throw him out in the street in a strange city at 16 years old!!
I stepped in and had a number of conversations with this cunt and told her if she did throw the kid out there would be severe consequences from me, also the doctor there was outraged at the HMO.
I finally helped get the kid situated and straightened out cause his poor mom was exhausted by this ordeal.
I haven't fucked up in years as far as violent behavior, but I gotta admit, I did have thoughts about these motherfuckers and a late night meeting in the parking lot with some "piano wire" and trash baggies!
What the fuck is going on? Like my old Mexicano neighbor used to say
"Society has lost our minds!"
When does the revolution start?

Tijuanero:

I hope this message finds you well. May I solicit (on behalf of both myself and your internet classroom) your insight into the confusing (to me) relationship between the EME and Maravilla?

My aforesaid 'confusion' stems from the fact that so many stalwart Mafiosos over the years have been so-called 'Maravillosos'.

Of course I realize that today MV is perpetually 'green-lighted' and boasts about its 'tax free' status. And I also understand, based on other material, that there has always been some degree of static between the two cliquas.

But how exactly has the present relationship (or lack thereof) between 'M' and 'MV' evolved over the decades?

As always, I appreciate your perspective.

With respect,

(Do you have any background on the formative years of the Texas Syndicate?)

Very little, I'm afraid. Their existence in California, with the exception of an armed confrontation between Texas combatants on the San Quentin upper yard in the mid-1960's (Battle at the OK Corral), in which no fatalities were reported, was very low key. Most Chicano cons chose to steer clear of the EME steam roller and El Paso Texas convicts were no fools. Quiet by nature they conducted themselves with dignity and avoided the gossip and initially did not side with or against other convicts' agendas.

But, after the 1968 Shoe War in San Quentin, they conveniently aligned themselves with the general Chicano inmate population and would make themselves visible in support of NF and northerners when conflict with Los Angeles-based gang members was in the offing. NF and their allies were in a constant state of "paranoia" between 1968 and about late-1971 because most prison yards had a disproportionate number of L.A. and So. Cal convicts who did not respect nor fear the NF. A "Mexican standoff", for lack of a better way of putting it, characterized the relationship between Surenos and made NF members and their allies. Wild rumors would run rampant throughout the prison which would lead to dialogue which would result in diffusing potentially volatile confrontations. Most of the inmates preferred to maintain a violence-free prison environment so that the cons on the mainline could enjoy their mutual number one treat: heroin usage. The Texas convicts were no different than California cons in their love of "The Dragon" and this common indulgence was a stabilizing factor that placed many feuds "on hold".

As the EME gradually filtered out to the main population, Texas inmates would often join them on the lower yard to share pruno batches and conducted drug business. Even though the Tejanos resented being "talked down to" by the more egocentric members of EME, TS members had a difficult time identifying with NF in the 60's and 70's. The Tejanos respected the EME but could not trust them.

There was an incident, for example, in early-1971 at San Quentin where a TS member overheard an NF (James Lugo - the same Lugo who was later killed in Soledad by AB) making disparaging remarks about EME to a small group of Nortenos in the East Block. The TS member (nicknamed "Pajaro") confronted Lugo and told him, (paraphrasing and carrying over from Spanish) "They're right outside on the yard. Why don't you tell them to their faces". A verbal exchange ensued which led to the TS member advising EME's Louie "Rock On Lou" Lopez, who confronted Lugo. Lugo denied the accusation and Rock On Lou then became the official "dispute mediator", pitting the TS member and Lugo to a "duel". Lou gave them a choice: a plumbing pipe each, a knife or fists. Lugo chose fists, Pajaro agreed, Rock On Lou was disappointed because he would not be enjoying a killing, but the two adversaries took their act to a blind spot in the East Block and engaged in a one on one fist fight. When the dust settled, both emerged sporting sun glasses along with bumps and bruises. Lugo learned to keep his mouth shut in a very inexpensive manner. That is, until he was silenced for good at Soledad's North Facility the following year.

Originally dubbed EPT (for El Paso Texas tip), they became the Texas Syndicate and kept to themselves except for drug interaction with EME and NF and wherever else they had contacts.

Ironically, "Pajaro" was later transferred to Folsom, a then-EME stronghold, and bored EME members, remembering Pajaro's previous anti-EME position, lured him to an area where he was stabbed several times but survived. Needless to say, Pajaro changed his ways after that incident and when he returned to San Quentin, was uncharacteristically strong in his opposition to the NF. The winds of change had affected this individual.

Another El Paso, Texas, inmate who incurred EME's wrath was a chatty inmate by the name of Frankie Padilla. He was later nicknamed the Mexican pincushion (the nickname "Pincushion" was already owned by one Roger Dale Smith, a white inmate whose torso bore over a hundred stab wounds) when he was stabbed over 70 times by AB's "New York" Crane and EME's Marcello "Gabby" Baeza. The shanks were poor and Frankie's time had not yet arrived! Incidentally, these 70 stab wounds, together with the 40-some he had already suffered in previous engagements with other adversaries, succeeded in surpassing the number that Pincushion Smitty possessed - a dubious distinction indeed. Smitty, it was related by a few ex-cons, was furious upon learning that Frankie had surpassed his "record".
True story, gentlemen with no "overkill" on my part.

By the way, for you EME and AB buffs, the first round of non-fatal stab wounds suffered by Pincushion Smitty occurred in 1967 when AB's William "Tank" Noah and "Rabbit" Myers + EME's Ernie "Neto" Garcia started his career to immortality.

TS is definitely a much deadlier force to contend with in the Texas prison system and others with more specific expertise to their activities there can speak with much greater knowledge. My two cents.

Peace ............

(NORWALQUERO ASKS: But how exactly has the present relationship (or lack thereof) between 'M' and 'MV' evolved over the decades?)

NW, the EME-Maravilla relationship is a love-hate thing. They can't live with each other and they can't live without each other.

Not only does Maravilla have the distinction of having more EME members represented from Los Angeles-area neighborhoods, Hoyo Mara specifically had well over a dozen 1st and 2nd generation members in the EME fold!

Maravilla is synonymous with L.A. "old school" street gangs.
From Los Angeles: White Fence, Varrio Nuevo, East Side Clover, Varrio Norwalk, Canta Ranas, Primera Flats, San Fer, Pacoima, Temple Street, Clanton, Mateo Street, Dog Town, Big Hazard, Happy Valley, The Avenues, Hawaiian Gardens, Venice, Compton, Wilmas, San Pedro, Florencia, Jardin (Pico Rivera), Watts, Canoga Park, La Rana, Redondo, Sangra, El Monte, Hoyo Soto and 18th Street, among others, are the original L.A. gangs heavily represented in La EME and/or were heavily entrenched as EME supporters.

Without even touching on San Diego, Ventura County, Imperial, Riverside, Orange and San Berdoo County, let's keep this in L.A. for now for the sake of this subject.

Maravilla gang members, historically speaking, only united when they entered the prison system. On the outside, most of them were mortal enemies.

When the EME formed in the '50's at DVI and they made a conscious and concerted effort to recruit the "cream of the crop" from the street gangs, it was no surprise that in that group - that first wave of EME soldiers - many of them were from Maravilla.

As is the case today, the "mainline" Maravilla gang members, became resentful because, (quote) "they found themselves - their leadership role - supplanted almost overnight" (end quote).

Because of their numbers, Maravilla gang members in prison were the leading force in most Chicano convict "unions". The establishment of EME replaced them immediately and they did not know how to handle this "loss of status".

Like today, some mouthed off about EME's bullying tactics and they paid with their lives.

The earliest prison killing of a Maravilla malcontent took place in 1963 in the San Quentin Adjustment Center. Tony Chacon from Lopez Mara was stabbed to death by EME's Eddie "Pelon" Moreno and Richard "Richie" Ruiz for mouthing off about the EME.

In 1968, James "Sonny" Pena from Hoyo Maravilla, was stabbed to death at San Quentin by Robert "Robot" Salas, for not reporting to the EME on a promised heroin deal. Even though Sonny attempted to evade EME by running with the Maravilla herd, time was on the predator's side as they waited, isolated their target and he was hit without any interference.

Manuel "Menito" Romero, a Maravilla rep who joined the NF in those early years (mid-1960's), was never forgotten by EME either. He was executed by none other than Robert "Robot" Salas in 1976, eight years after the 1968 Shoe War in which Menito had been a principal.

The EME's attitude, especially for those who opposed them and lived in So.Cal has been, "you can run but you can't hide". Indeed, time has been on their side and their intelligence network (which includes LE, DMV employees, etc.) is vast, especially when they decide to track down a member of the street gang community. Menito's fatal mistake was in choosing to remain in the So. Cal area.

Maravilla consists of many barrios and have expressed their unique identity for decades. Like other barrios, some are in compliance with current EME tax laws and some are not. Their status fluctuates along with other agreements that occur as the years bring change and the neverending and unpredictable ebb and flow.

Taxing barrios, in the opinion of many in LE, was supposed to initially be a vehicle in which CONTROL over gangs would be undertaken.

But, guess what? Lo and behold, they discovered that it had become a lucrative revenue-generating exercise too! So this practice continued .... some accepted and paid while others resented and withheld.

Some experts today predict that the EME has expressed a willingness to either curtail or phase out the "per head taxing" in exchange for reverting to the old method: you buy your dope from us and no one else and we tax only the dope dealers.

It appears that this "experiment" is already underway in barrios that exist in: (whisper it low)
Maravilla.
So much for tax free. Where there's money to be made, it seems that compromise is still in everyone's vocabulary.

Like I said, Norwalquero, it's a love-hate thing. You can't take the Maravilla influence and history out of the EME and apparently you conversely can't take the EME out of Maravilla.

More to come. I'm tired and my dogs need to be fed.

Peace ......

My name is Jose Luis Quintana. For purposes of clarity my main reason for placing this ad is to make the public aware of the grave injustice which was done to me and to inform you about my ongoing struggle for justice and to request your assistance to right this wrong.

I am presently incarcerated in one of California’s prisons. On September 6, 1980 at 00:30 Hours, an ambush-style gang shooting occurred at the Rampart sector of the city of Los Angeles. Three members of the WS 18th Street gang were killed and six of their gang associates were wounded. Although I had absolutely nothing to do with the shooting, I was subsequently arrested, railroaded and wrongfully convicted in a mockery of a trial before a pro-prosecution judge.

I have languished in a prison cell for 23 years and through the painful passage of these years I have strongly maintained my innocence and asserted that I was framed by several rogue cops, who utilize me as a mere pawn to further their careers within the Rampart-CRASH Police Department. (Currently the subject of one of the largest corruption investigations in the history of the LAPD.) However, my cries of innocence and efforts always fell on deaf ears because no one would lend credibility that these cops would stoop to perjuring themselves and fabricating evidence to frame innocent people.

In a nutshell, I was framed by a notorious group of rogue cops, then railroaded by a district attorney only too happy to bury the truth in his zeal to convict another Latino youth. I need your help to reverse this wrongful conviction and regain my freedom.
If you are an experienced criminal attorney or law professor please contact me or my public defender attorney Mr. Albert Camacho at (213) 893-7382.
If you are a media investigative reporter, retired investigator, FBI agent, prosecutor, detective, or if you know someone who is, please contact me right away. The Los Angeles District Attorney Office is suppressing the address of key witnesses and other evidence. I need someone to find and interview these witnesses.
Please know that I appreciate all your letters and word of support.

More good stuff from Tijuanero as always!
Very interesting history on the Texas Syndicate in the joints of Calif. but there's more to that story.
TS came from the old El Paso clique that originated not in Texas but in the now demolished area of LA called "Bunker Hill" around Downtown and Temple St.

Many Mexican-American immigrants during the 30's, 40's, 50s, mostly from El Paso, New Mexico, and Colorado came to LA and lived in the Old tenament houses there until they moved on to better neighborhoods.
I noticed in Mundo Mendoza's book where he mentioned this same exodus in his family, which is the common denominator for many LA chicano family's including my own.
People seem to think that most "Mexican's" immigrated to LA from Mexico but that was not the case then. Huge numbers of Chicano's migrated to LA from mainly El Paso, New Mexico, and Colorado.
There were so many guys from El Paso in that area that they had there own clique called "El Paso"
Talking to old timer's and my own young recollections of the time, these guys from EP were strong in the drug dealing business then but always had to get the green light and OK from the established gangsters from the old "Clantone" and "Temple St." varrios.
It was these same El Paso natives that formed the "Texas Syndicate" in the joints.
Since there is no more "Bunker Hill" neighborhood most of the old familys moved to other areas, the gangsters integrated into other varrio groups.
In the old neighborhood of mine "Lincon Hts" there was a huge number of people both "Mexican-American" and "Italian", who were from New Mexico and Colorado,. When Tijuana Jailer writes about the Carnals I recognize many surnames as definately NM,Colo, originated,Lucero,Romero,Segura,
Maez,Salas,Trujillo, Santistevan,Lujan,Pacheco,Baca.
And even though most of these immigrant family's have been succesful beyond there ancestors wildest dreams, one tragic consequence is that some have returned to the old places like El Paso, and New Mexico and brought with them the gangster lifestyle they learned in LA which now flourishes and is spreading throughout this region.

And, it's not like a whole lot about prisons and gangs is being learned here lately. Even Wally is chasing his tail with blogs indicting gun control hypocrites, that segue into diatribes against celebrity gun owners. Talk about somebody here having a political agenda... What's good for the goose is good for the gander.

Tijuana Jailer, Don Quixote, Gava Joe, Retired Joker, and a few others are really all that's keeping this blog alive anymore. One of the commenters above I've given praise to, we know, is a retired LE officer, but he at least can handle diverse opinions and carries himself with dignity. He doesn't cry like a fucking baby, the way you do.

The El Paso to L.A. connection is indeed huge. About a year ago I read a memo that discussed the most highly traveled Greyhound bus route in the United States. It was El Paso to Los Angeles (and vice versa). It was normal to see two and three Greyhounds traveling back to back to back!

Today, if you visit cities like El Paso and Albuquerque, you find many Los Angeles transplants residing there and importing their influence for better or for worse.

Don Q: you, Mundo and folks who are more familiar with the early 20th Century Chicano/Mexicano migration from EPT have much to bring to the table and I've heard similar accounts from EME dropouts not to mention other street gang members as well.

To the gentleman who opines about an EME "bias", sorry man. The facts are the facts and the names and dates remain there for your corroboration and/or research. The added commentary is all mine (I confess) but I trust the readers can read past any "rhetoric" and glean "just the facts".

If the "slant" is toward EME and it's gangster base, that's only because the "slant" of this Blog is ... "Gangs, crime, cops and politics in LOS ANGELES". Thanks for the criticism though. I also get hit for "naming names" but imagine the negative feedback if I were to make up fictitious monikers and play that "reliable source" card!

It is one thing to obtain info solely from dropouts for many of them do seem to wish to push their own "agenda" - even after they are out of the mix. It's quite another thing when you have corroborated observed inmate behaviour, countless interviews with older gang investigators (north and south with no axes to grind) who have/had the luxury of cultivating prison informants, observing convict movements, preserving video tape, audio tapes, CDC 115's (sssh, we can't get into those details), and old guards who were there and supervised the transporting of corpses from the prison crime scenes to the waiting hearsts.

In other words, one can't "spin" this to make another group look like something they were not. It is what it is and it was what it was.

If things are different from your perspective, let's hear it. I, for one, enjoy current events and I will be the first to admit this is the domain of the young bucks.

My strength is in the historical California street and prison gang evolvement and the history is overwhelmingly traced from Mexico to El Paso, Texas, with a "pit stop" in Las Cruces (to gas up maybe), Tuscon, Phoenix to their Promised Land of Los Angeles. The "leftovers" would filter to Bakersfield and points north.

The street gang growth in Los Angeles set the standard for the "mini-nation" mentality in which geographical boundaries were defended relentlessly. From these street gangs came the birth of the gang of gangs: La EME.

Their influence and "stench" is now so intense today that their Minor Leaguers (the Blue Crew) carry this banner in a name (Sureno)and a number (13) that seems to have taken a life of its own.

It has obviously, stirred much opposition everywhere, especially when one's turf is "invaded" by outsiders.

This phenomena called "Sureno-ism"
(geez, did I butcher that or what?)
has found its way to barrios in northern Cal and other parts. The
opposition it generates serves to keep the pot boiling and only time will tell where the chips will ultimately fall.

The lack of a similar scenario (northern infiltration of So. Cal 'hoods) is interesting to note as well. There are no reported Norteno movements and there have not been any norteno activity felt whatsoever in So. Cal of any measurable magnitude.

Does stating this fact make me "biased" to So Cal gangs? I hope not. Denver cops reacted in a similar fashion at a seminar in that city by an EME expert.

This "my gangs are tougher than your gangs" mentality is an attitude that exists in (of all places) Oklahoma City, Des Moines, Kansas City, Little Rock and other areas I've had occasion to travel to.

It's similar to the person who commented on who was "badder" between the AB and EME? My answer would be: would you rather have terminal liver cancer or terminal brain cancer? In other words, pick your poison.

Gentlemen, they're ALL bad; and they're ALL deadly and they ALL hurt their respective communities in varying degrees.

When the LE community decides to combine forces in initiating an APB on a serial rapist or murderer, the spirit of real cooperation is a beautiful thing. When/if the day comes when ALL agencies - federal, state and local - bury their petty hatchets and decide that a concerted effort vs. these prison gangs, drug dealers, oc mobs of all ethnicities, terrorists, etc., are more important than jockeying for a feather in one's cap, then you will see SUCCESSFUL prosecutions instead of circuses. Don't hold your breath waiting for this to take place!

Back to Don Q's comments: the EME's roots can be traced directly to El Paso Texas and its Pachuco genesis, for sure. Remember, the Pachuco was what? The extreme example of a misfit rebelling against society. They were unique; they were arrogant and they established the standard for the characteristics of the modern day L.A. gang member.

They had their own way of talking; they had their own way of walking;
'Cause they were in with the In Crowd (lol .... that's a song, Don Q).

Still No Script has the distinction of being a self-avowed Liberal. That rubs a lot of folks wrong. Too bad! That's what makes a Democracy. And you have to hand it to him for not hiding his views in this hostile place.. \

Excellent posts from TJ and Don Q, and as usual Stillnoscript standing his ground! Orale!
Tj is correct, L.A. is the center of the universe of Gang activity and it is ever expanding.
Interesting thought about how the north never tried to expand south.
For one, it would be a logistical nightmare and greatly outnumbere and two, it is that most nortenos have lived their 4 or 5 generations and are firmly entrenched with their families. The Sureno movement up north has mostly been migrant workers and border brothers, who bring the Sureno name and dress with them that they see in the streets of So Cal and could never emulate when they were living down here because they would've been punked by real southsiders.
So they are unknown and have a new life up north and have everything to prove and dozens of young lives are being taken a every year up north for the California civil war.
More interesting is the spread of north vs. south accross the country moving east.
There are established norteno and sureno gangs in El Paso now and Chicago of all places. Obviously, nortenos are grealy outnumbered outside of California as well.
I have a homeboy of mine who moved to El Paso 6 years ago and he said its pretty crazy out there. The Texas Prison system is pretty crazy too with not only AB, Eme and NF but also Dirty White Boys, TS, Old Mexican Mafia, New Mexican Mafia, Border Brothers and some other clicks.
Tj is correct, the Southwest has kinda attached itselt to So Cal and the gangs has spread. I remeber my homeboy visiting Phoenix about 15 years ago and the latinos were claiming red and blue but as he says it, it wasn't sur vs. norte but Crips and Bloods. Chicano crips and bloods?!?? Yes, it does happen.
Back to El Paso. They have some crazy shit kicking off on the streets that goes up to the prison gangs as well as the Juarez Cartel.
IF you think its hard to escape the life of gangs and crime on the streets of Cali, imagine living in El Paso....there ain't nothing to do but get caught up in the mix.

(...info on eMe members past and present from the San Gabriel Valley?)

Older EME members from the San Gabriel Valley begins with Victorio "Cupie" Juarez and his brother Steve "Little Bunky" Juarez from Sangra. Cupie was recruited in San Quentin in 1971, Little Bunky in the late-1970's. Angel Valencia, also from Sangra, was recruited in the L.A. County Jail in about 1978 after his conviction on a 187 and 211 pc. Angel was the crime partner of another EME from SGV, Nick "Nico" Velasquez from La Puente. Nico was recruited, almost to the day, with Cupie Juarez at San Quentin.

Bobby "Fat Cat" Zapata from Big Bassett was recruited in the early 1970's. He's the member that was killed by Chino gang member Danny Loza (mentioned earlier).

Charles "Charlie Brown" Manriquez and Anthony "Dido" Moreno (both from El Monte) were EME members recruited in the '70's. Both fell from grace with their carnales.

Dido was hit, along with four members of his family (including two toddlers) on April 4, 1998, whereas Charlie Brown was shot to death in Ramona Gardens on March 25, 1992, for not taking care of business. CB had been a technical advisor to Edward James Olmos in "American Me".

There have since been others recruited from SGV but these are the earlier "old timers" from my days on the beat.

(I WOULDNT CALL THOSE OF US WHO MOVED FURTHER NORTH LEFTOVERS)

How about, "those that were left over" from the exodus to L.A.? Poor choice of description on my part. Too many beautiful folks (and family of my own) in Nor Cal to have meant it negatively.

I was speaking of the gangster element more than the good people anyway. I'm sure you are very accurate in your assessment of hardworking folks vs. the lazy ones. Inactivity breeds mischief and there are hordes of unemployed gang members in our part of the state due to (as you state) laziness.

Funny but a "little voice" was whispering to me as I proof read my comments and I didn't listen. Sorry guys.

Peace to all .....

The Armenians side with the South Side. I now they are white but the ones in prison ride with the surenos. Oh and there is no AP no more. They kind of faded out I guess. Shit like that happens in the gang world. One more thing do you where AP was located at? Everybody always says Glandale for obvious reason, but they stayed at Hollywood, ust a little side info from me.

and was brown bob big time in the joint? i read some shit on him and seems he had a change of mind concerning his state in the nf. and took to talking to kids about gangs and the bad side of them. he got with mags, and thats what got him in the hat with the nf.
even went as far as to cover up his tattoo, so whats the difference with him and mundo. simple mundo not only turned from his hood he worked with the enemy just like judas. and while commiting crimes to boot, i know this is a love mundo fest site, but i'm just pointing out that one does not have to take down anyone when supposeably turning away from the oc in their lives.
what do you think?

Good post RJ, and it is very interesting and curious to me the rapid spread of LA gang culture throughout the country.
I being a "Consultant" in the construction industry have an opportunity to view this phenomenom everywhere I go which is mainly in the "West and Midwest".
It's curious but true that even though the El Paso area was a conduit and supplied a lot of raw material for the LA gang culture, and the "Sur" presence is a long and influential one, the crime rate in El Paso is one of the lowest in the US for larger cities.

It really is a nice and peaceful city by and large with people that are very proud of thier heritage and culture.
Tijuas mentioned "Las Cruces, NM" which is a neighbor of El Paso, and there even though a much smaller city exists a terrible gang situation with some incredible number of gangsters and gang problems ( mainly Sureno influence).
Also most of New Mexico is Sureno and in the NM joints the Sureno/AB/NM Sindicate rules heavily.
In Albuquerque and many other smaller NM cities the Carnals actually send out reps to collect taxes from the local dealers.
From my observations Colorado and especially the Denver area has a much larger NF/Norteno influence although there is shit popping off all over lately with the Sureno's moving in.
And a really strange thing to see is the influence of the Crips and Bloods on the "Res" especially the Navajo Res where all the youngsters are in blue or red rags and are "Crippen" with pants hanging off thier ass's and listening to Rap and Reggae tunes.
What a world!

(one does not have to take down anyone when supposeably turning away from the oc in their lives)

You are absolutely correct. But you have to remember that every highly placed prison gang member who decides to leave his prison gang has his unique set of circumstances. It is a case by case thing and their reason(s) for leaving + their decision to tell all or not is their choice.

It appears that in the NF consitution there was a clause which provided for sanctioned retirement after so many years of faithful service. Brown Bob met this criteria and he believed he was in good standing so he involved himself in changing his lifestyle and assisting the kids in the barrio. What he did not know is that others in the NF were plotting his demise.

Mundo chose to completely sever his ties with EME and his ongoing indulgence in criminal activity occurred during his undercover tenure (March-1977 through May-1978) and one Ex-con with a gun conviction in 1982. He has remained crime-free since his release from L.A. County in 1983 until today, according to the U.S. Marshals office and others in LE.

He "chose" his path after turning (and is still alive); Brown Bob chose his (and he's dead). It all depends on whose standards we wish to apply.

If we apply the EME's standards, he should have remained a soldier until death;
if we apply the "proper way to proceed" standard that some advance, he should have simply driven off into the sunset and taken no one with him;
if you apply the community's need to rid society of the EME scourge standard, we in LE have to make a "pact with the devil" to get the bigger fish.

If Mundo doesn't roll, we cannot avail ourselves of a vital inside resource and our job becomes very difficult.

The good guys can't argue with the end result because he assisted us in over 30 separate cases!

On the other hand, the bad guys are angry that he didn't spare them and rightfully so. Those are some of the pitfalls a gangster is liable to encounter in their nefarious journey. Occupational hazards, you might say.

I'm not tuned in with the current wave of EME from Lomas and SSG but their influence in the SGV is very strong.

As for who is "running" the EME today, ongoing LE activity precludes me from speaking about current affairs that might endanger possible investigations other than the obvious: Adolph "Champ" Reynoso from Hazard appears to be well entrenched as the number one man in the Feds whereas the state has many shot callers.

Peace and good night ......

If there is public outcry and/or publicity (as in high profile cases) the district attorney himself would probably look into other cases. Most departments do a similar internal investigation. Or, at least, they should.

The detective should be prosecuted (they often are) if the evidence supports a conviction. A defendant's attorney should not assume that the d.a. will look into everyone's case that came in contact with this detective.

It still remains, for the most part, a case by case issue. It is therefore incumbent on the incarcerated inmate to seek relief by hiring an attorney to revisit this case or, lacking funds, to contact the convicted person's public defenders office (in the county where convicted).

DNA has also been extremely helpful in "undoing" wrongfully convicted individuals or affirming rightly convicted inmates.

I hope this answers your question.
You're getting into areas almost beyond my scope of familiarity. (I hate courtrooms!) ;-)

Tijuana, Baja California - Watch it now. You're getting "close to home" on me!

Tijuana has been a very interesting arena for both EME and primarily Cartel activity. In the mid-1970's, EME's Daniel "Choco" Montellano maintained dual residences: one in Los Angeles and several in his hometown of Tijuana.

His father was (about that time) a candidate for governor in Baja California and the main house they owned was a headquarters for drug movement.

Although they were once raided by narcotics officers in which a shootout ensued (even mama Montellano got into the fray), the very small amount of drugs was flushed before the shooting stopped and the agents were allowed entry into the heavily barred home with apologies of "mistaken identity".

EME fugitives often hid out at one of the several stash pads maintained by Choco in TJ, which were protected by local police who were on the payroll.

In 1975, forewarned with the knowledge that Tijuana gangsters were crazy and did not respect EME nor anyone, EME's Sailor Boy and Mundo drove to TJ to collect monies owed and packed a hand grenade for the occasion. Upon arriving, the culprits had already been taken care of by Choco Montellano's brother Beto operating on EME's behalf. The bad guys were tied to a truck and driven off a steep cliff!

In early-1977, based on information supplied by now mobster-turned-informant Mundo Mendoza, Baja California State Police launched a raid on one of these houses occupied by Alfredo "Alfie" Sosa, one of EME's most ruthless killers (also dubbed the "Joe Pesci" of the EME for those of you familiar with the movie Goodfellas) and, with California prison task force members present as "guest observers" effected Alfie's arrest, detention, interrogation and extradiction to Los Angeles.

During Alfie's two-day detention, while Task Force agents were treated to (ahem, dinner?) a "look" at the night life of Tijuana, he was taken for a different type of tour.

Alfie's keepers produced a cattle prod and promised to apply it to his testicles if he did not cooperate with information they sought regarding ten or so homicides in the U.S. Now, even though Alfie told his carnales that the prod was applied, it never took place.

BEFORE they could make good on their threat, Alfie told them (paraphrased in English): "Whatever you think I did, I did it!"

One of the agents produced a list: "Did you kill Gilbert Roybal?" Answer: "Yes, I did".

"Did you kill Ellen Delia?". Answer: "Yes, I did".

"Did you kill Alfredo Jimenez?" Answer: "Yes, I did".

This went on and on and they read from a list supplied to them by U.S. agents and Alfie replied in the affirmative to all queries. He then was instructed to place his initial next to each victim's name, then sign at the bottom of the "statement-confession".

At that point, Alfie volunteered another victim. "I also killed a guy by the name of Mickey Rooney", he offered. The Mexican agents became excited and Mickey Rooney became a "write-in". Needless to say, this pretty much rendered the entire confession a legal farce as Alfie's creative mind had obviously been prepared for this.

Today, Tijuana not only is a heavy Sureno hotbed of activity, many EME associates on the run from the law take haven in several parts of Baja California. Unlike Juarez and El Paso, Texas, Tijuana has a tremendous gang problem and the interaction between TJ and Los Angeles and San Diego Surenos is ongoing.

Chiques: Although there is current EME activity in this area, the older members were ........
Ray Aragon, Manuel "Chapo" Amaro (killed in Oxnard about 20 years ago in a drug ripoff), Robert "Papitas" Amaro (his brother, I believe), and Evarito "Blanco" Blanco.

No, Fernando Vargas never joined La EME (smile-this was actually a question posed by a young officer from that area). But Oscar DeLaHoya did! (just kidding)

Peace ........

Tijuanero, your on a roll and do yourself a favor and copyright some of your posts as they are like "mini novelas", good stuff.

Hey your response to the Sureno influence in Tijuas is right on.
I posted a couple of blogs back that not having spent much time in TJ for while I had the occasion to visit old camaradas there during the X-mas holidays and was shocked at the LA style gang activity there. LA "placasos", tatted down, LA Dodger blue wearing vato loco's everywhere.
I have some family in San Diego and one of them is a hooked up Sureno enforcer for the Carnal's in the pinta which is almost always. He is a hard hitting veterano from "Shelltown" varrio and as you certainly know, these guys along with homeboys from "Logan Hts", "National City varrio 13" and other SD area gangsters do lot's of work with the "Sureno's" from TJ and other areas of Mexico. If you read between the lines you will know what I'm talking about.
This is a relatively little known phenom that has some very serious potential consequences.

On the subject of the "Mero Homie" negocio's in Mexico, I had heard years ago from a close homeboy who was and probably still is a "associate" of the Carnals, mainly in the Federal Joints.(This guy has spent years in Lompoc and Terminal Island)
Anyway, he was hooked up back in the day with the "Get Going Project" and in fact lived at the Apt's on No. Broadway (above the Sportsmans Bar) run by the you know you. But this old homeboy tells me a story (and I beleive it) that years ago "Micheal Delia" his wife and cunado (bro in law) and others you would know, travel down to the Mtns. of Sinaloa, at the invite of the "Socios" from Culiacan, which is a hot bed of the Narco Trafficante's. Delia and group are treated to a beautiful ranch vacation, first class all the way, food, music, horses, todo bien!
While there Delia gets into a beef with his brother in law, who was supposedly a gavacho AB hitter, and this guy beats the shit out of Mike Delia in front of everyone.
After a couple of days they supposedly make up and go for a ride in the mountains around "Guamuchil" which is very remote.
Anyway Delia get's the drop on his Cunado and blasts him point blank. They buried him in the mtns and nothing was ever said about it as it was family pedo.
Tight family huh!

Just in case some of you didn't read about it already here is some recent news on La eMe, after all isn't that what this blog is supposed to be about??

Man sentenced for selling drugs for Mexican mafia
By: North County Times wire services 03-24-06
SANTA ANA -- The first man convicted of charges stemming from a probe into links between street-level drug sales and the prison-based Mexican Mafia was sentenced to more than 24 years in prison, a prosecutor said Thursday.
Robert Ocampo, 29, is the first man convicted as a result of Operation Nemesis, said Assistant U.S. Attorney Richard Lee.
Alleged ringleader Peter Ojeda, 63, of La Habra, was among 29 people arrested as a result of the two-year undercover investigation.
Ocampo was a middleman whose main contact was the No. 2 man in Ojeda's organization, authorities said.
The sentence of 24 years and 4 months was handed down by U.S. District Judge David Carter on Monday, Lee said.
Fifteen of the 29 defendants were charged with being part of a Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organization -- the RICO law created largely to attack organized crime.
Among those facing the RICO charge are Ojeda, along with alleged No. 2 and No. 3 leaders, Marco Diaz, 31, of Santa Ana, and Jose Becerra, 38, of Placentia. They face up to life in prison if convicted, Lee said.
Trial for Ojeda, Diaz and Becerra and 11 others is set to start Sept. 19, Lee said.
Fourteen of the 29, including Ocampo, also were charged with conspiracy to distribute drugs.
Since being indicted last June, 13 of the 29 defendants have pleaded guilty, and Ocampo was the only one to be tried so far, Lee said.
Ocampo, referred to as "Wicked" in wiretapped phone conversations, was convicted Oct. 28 of conspiracy to distribute more than 150 grams of methamphetamine, an amount that made him eligible for a mandatory 10-year prison sentence.
Based on the amount of methamphetamine and "his extensive criminal history," Ocampo received the harshest sentence so far in the case, Lee said.
He had rejected a plea bargain prior to trial, said his attorney, David Kaloyanides.
Other sentences handed down so far range from two years in prison for Ismael Esquivel and Orlando Alvarado; 30 months for David Melgoza and Ramon Meza; 60 months for Jose Martinez; 70 months for Diego Moreno; 108 months for Robert Cervantes; 144 months for Abel Azevedo and 210 months for Lawrence Morales.

Someone earlier asked "who was running the Eme?"

And then you mentioned the Grajedas. Ah yes, the Grajedas, from La Rana right? Harbor Area/South Bay old varrio. Small in numbers, big in the "made" scene.

Anyways, TJ, do you of any other "made men" from the South Bay/Harbor Area? I know the South Bay/Harbor Area doesn't have the rep or history like other places but they have a good amount of soldiers in the joint. Any barrios or names come to mind. Gracias...

Immigration Rallies Draw Thousands Nationwide

By TIM MOLLOY
Associated Press Writer
Published March 24, 2006, 11:11 PM CST

LOS ANGELES -- Thousands of people across the country protested Friday against legislation cracking down on illegal immigrants, with demonstrators in such cities as Los Angeles, Phoenix and Atlanta staging school walkouts, marches and work stoppages.

Congress is considering bills that would make it a felony to be illegally in the United States, impose new penalties on employers who hire illegal immigrants and erect fences along one-third of the U.S.-Mexican border. The proposals have angered many Hispanics.

The Los Angeles demonstration led to fights between black and Hispanic students at one high school, but the protests were largely peaceful, authorities said.

Chantal Mason, a sophomore at George Washington Preparatory High, said black students jumped Hispanic students as they left classes to protest a bill passed the House in December that would make it a felony to be in the U.S. illegally.

"It was horrible, horrible," Mason said. "It's ridiculous that a bunch of black students would jump on Latinos like that, knowing they're trying to get their freedom."

...ONe vato from ws primera flats and his bro. We started a little gang called ss47st here in south sac...to this day i hear i has really gotten big.

That vato, Porky, from WS Primera Flats was killed by nortenos and his bro, Lil Porky moved out of Sac or he would have been killed too. The vatos had huge fucking balls of steel, as they went through alot of shit, and kept at it. They banged hard and were real soldiers for the sureno cause, probably more so than 99& of the surenos out there right now.

Anonymous said...

Oh yeah, porky would always wear clothes like he was in East Los 1980. He had a cane and shit. The vato really was "la vida loca" in person. motherfucker was full of pachuco spirit. I think he was the first sureno in sac to stand up and be counted. Like you said homie, the others were hiding in the woodwork until you vatos came out with 47 street.

Did he ever mention what brought him to Sac? Was he sent out here by higher powers to recruit or did he take it upon himself to do so?

Anonymous said...

Hey homie Im just telling you what I see, I aint gangbanging on anyone Im just letting you know that southside is deep up here, talk all the shit you want but it is a fact i have seen it with my own eyes, so take it how you want, bottom line the snorte will never have a presence in Los as compared to the presence the sur has up north, its a trip

Anonymous said...

WHEN REFFERING TO VATOS FROM SOUTHERN CALIFAS, I USE THE WORD THE SURENOS BECAUSE I AINT BANGING, IF I WAS I'D CALL THEM THE MANY NAMES I LEARNED TO CALL THEM WHEN I DID BANG. YOU STARTED OUT SAYING YOU DONT BANG THEN TALK LIKE A BANGER. YOU WOULDNT SAY THE WORD SNORTE IN A BARBERSHOP FULL OF NORTENOS, SO WHY HERE? JUST LIKE THOSE FUCKING GAVAS TALKING NIGGER THIS AND NIGGER THAT UNTIL SOME BLACKS GUYS COME AROUND. ITS WEAK.

IF IT WALKS LIKE A DUCK , LOOKS LIKE A DUCK, AND QUACKS LIKE A DUCK, ITS A DUCK.

GOODLUCK TRYING TO GET AWAY FROM THAT SHIT, BECAUSE LIFE TRULY IS BETTER ON THE OTHER SIDE.

I just dont go anround starting shit for nothing, thats what I meant by not bangin.Well then fuck it Im bangin then! Im in, I cant back down, I have gotten down with some busters, but it was cause they disrespected! So if its that way then Im all in ESE!

Point being: THE SNORTE WILL NEVER HAVE THE PRESENCE THE SUR DOES, IN THEIR OWN BACKYARD! THATS LIFE, THATS HOW IT IS, DONT GET MAD. BY THE WAY DID YOU SEE ALL THAT RAZA AT THAT MARCH! COULD NEBVER GET THAT MUCH RAZA TOGETHER UP NORTH, YOU BUSTERS HAVE TO GO TO THE MILLION MAN MARCH, WITH YOUR BLACK COUNTER PARTS...THE TRUTH FUCKIN HURTS SO MUCH.

On that note, there's your revolution Don Q. I was thinking about all the marches and the show of force the raza (not just surenos as the last pendejo would have you think)gave, and i have to wonder what M thinks of all this. If I was M , I'd be salivating at all that untouched potential and or worrying that many mexicans answering to someone other than M. What do you intelligent vatos here think about M and this movement taking shape.

I think blacks may have not taken off criminally like M because Martin Luther King was a balance to the fiery beliefs of militant blacks/ofetn inmates. I wonder if a organized movement for raza could challenge M and NF for some of the influence it holds over our youth.

Anonymous said...

Anonymous said...

Let them march to Mexico and stay there.

Anyone who marches in the streets of LA with a non-American flag is a traitor.

PS: The Principal should suspend all these kids and the INS/ICE should check all of the suspended students immigration records.

Anonymous said...

Principle isn't going to suspend anybody because they get thier funds based on school attendence. You have a Belmont High School in LA for example (largest population of any high school in the USA) that is funded based on students enrolled and attendence and even though many are undocumented, the principle is counting heads anyway.

Whats the problem with marching with the flag of Mexico? The Irish do it on St Paddy's day, The Italians do it on Columbus Day, The Jewish got the Star Of David all over the place. There are plenty of "Stars and Stripes" flying in those protest marches so leave the prejudice at home.

This country is lucky to have people of Mexican Heritage here, they're hard working, family oriented, strong, religious, good people, and some of the most patriotic americans one could ask for.
And all the shit they have taken for hundreds of years here, even though they were here long before the "Anglo's", living under a dozen or so different flags and now being called foriegners in there own land!
And the masked rascism involved with the "English Only" legislations proposed is really offensive, This country was never an english only speaking country.
Sanganabiche!!

Finally Raza is standing up and being noticed. Our people are submissive people, hard workers, and family orientated. In the past raza has always let every other race walk all over us. I' will try again, perhaps it is for the best...I put to much info out. "Less about me and more about the common interest...
I have been off topic for awhile, but have been reading the blog for a long time. Long enough to know that TJ, Retired Joker and Don Q have insight combined with experiance.
My question (TJ) where is the M headed now? When Joe M died I gave the obit to someone on the tier that I have known for several years, asking him what now. (M.V.) then told me that it was like a horse without a head. The trick was to keep the new head(s) going in the same direction. At that time, it was the Topo and Tupi mess. Odd...Mike (P12)and Tupi would have been not so good with each other on the outside...much like a cuca king not getting along with a BA...or Cherrieville and a sharky going at it. but, big Mike and Tupi stood behind glass with eachother...one as a best man for the others wedding...at the bay.
trip is, Mike and Grajeda (twin) lived together at the time. Grajeda was not all too good with Tupi though. When Tupi was in need after a spearing, few answered role call that day. Remember when politicing was as good as a green light...what's going on now, with the "gang of gangs"? As a former one third-timer (eight hours a day...thank God) I certainly never "liked" the heavy hitters, but their organizational skills, and devotion for a common cause (money/power)was a class act. Are they so divided now that they will continue to sub-divid untill their power base dies off?

I love Mexicans. If it weren't for them I would have to trim my own yard and clean up my own house.Seriously though I've never seen the movie but they did make one about this subject called A Day Without a Mexican.Basicly all the Mexicans walk off there jobs and such and make the world or at least California realize how valuable they really are.I don't think the government should crack down on ALL the undocumented immagrants . There are alot of hardworking families that just want a better life here and to make good money instead of the $5 a day they make picking lettuce. I think they should look at 1) what Country the person is from. There aint no Mexicans making dirty bombs or planing to blow up America they're just trying to make some money to send home or make a better life here.We should be looking at the Middle eastern fuckers that are the real threat to the good ol U.S.of A. 2) They should also be looking at Criminal Records. Sorry if this is a touchy subject for some of you, but if you are an undocumented immagrant and you are just chalking up arrest after arrest than you have nothing to give to this country. If you are spending more time in jail than on the outs than we're just paying for your room and board. There are plenty of immagrants that add to the melting pot of California Mexican,Veitnameese,Chineese and whatever else. If you came here to make a better life for yourself so be it we should embrace all especially the Mexicans because they once owned California. But if your just comming here to get over on our welfare system, commit crimes, and abuse our country then you should be deported back to your own country.

Anonymous said...

Sure, the Mexi-can'ts aren't composing dirty bombs, they are doing worse, i.e. the drive-by, the sexual assaults, the GTA's, the raping of our social systems, etc.

Who affects you more, AQ or the local illegal homie with your car stereo in his backback?

I say let them march on the highways. Just make that highway the I-5 South.....all the way back to ol' Mexico!

Anonymous said...

Like I said.Deport the ones that are just here to prey on the American people or live life commmiting one crime to another.I just got out of jail recently and most of the Mexicans in there where in there for 3rd or 4th offense DUI's. I got kid's that are about to start driving and I sure as hell don't want them killed by some mojado that can't call his ol lady or a taxi to come pick him up , but that's what I'm saying. The first felony DUI and you don't have papers - adios amigo.
The only reason Al Quida doesn't affect me is because they chose to strike New york instead of California. If they chose to strike California first it would have affected Me , You , and everyone else in this state no matter if they where Brown , White ,Black , Red or Yellow. That's why I do agree with closing off the borders. We need to worry about the safety of Americans , whether their Mexican Americans , White Americans, African Americans , Native Americans etc...And don't forget the threat is still out there . We haven't done shit to stop Al Queda, Osama is in Saudia Arabia or Pakistan or some shit he's not in Iraq.He is sitting somewhere comfortable whatching this Iraq drama on T.V. laughing it up and plotting his next attack on us. That's why I'm more worried about terrorist gaining access to our country more than I'm worried about the lil homie with my car stereo in his back pac. Fuck it hopefully he'll go on to worse things get caught and deported ,as long as his dad is still around to cut my lawn I aint trippin. All I'm saying is I'm all for making it harder for illeagls to get into our country but I'm don't like the fact that they want to make the ones that are already here ( many of them law abiding citizens ) criminals. Find some justification for condeming them other than just crossing the border and get rid of the criminal element.

Anonymous said...

YOU KNOW WHAT! FUCK YOU!!! AND FUCK EVERYBODY!!!....IM TIRED OF LOOKING FOR A JOB AND THERES NONE! THEY TAKE THEM ALL,THEY CROWD OUR SCHOOLS! THEY GET WELFARE WITH OUR TAX MONEY,CRIME GOES UP AND JUST CAUSE THEY WERE ALLOWED TO CROSS THE BORDER!!....... FUCK I HATE THOSE CANADIANS!!..LOL!!

TRY THIS IN MEXICO

If you are ready for the adventure of a lifetime, TRY THIS:

Enter Mexico illegally. Never mind immigration quotas, visas, international law, or any of that nonsense.

Once there, demand that the local government provide free medical care for you and your entire family.

Demand bilingual nurses and doctors.
Demand free bilingual local government forms, bulletins, etc. Procreate abundantly.

Deflect any criticism of this allegedly irresponsible reproductive behavior with, "It's a cultural USA thing. You wouldn't understand, pal."

Keep your American identity strong. Fly Old Glory from your rooftop, or proudly display it in your front window or on your car bumper.

Better yet, ignore state laws and display a US flag front license plate instead of the required state plate.

Speak only English at home and in public and insist that your children do likewise.
Demand classes on American culture in the Mexican school system.
Demand a local Mexican driver license.

This will afford other legal rights and will go far to legitimize your unauthorized, illegal presence in Mexico.
Drive around with no liability insurance and ignore local traffic laws.

Insist that local Mexican law enforcement teach English to all its officers.

Good luck! You'll be demanding for the rest of time or soon dead.
