Odd, is it not, how the timing correlates (not causation) with my PSA on March 25. I can see where the human desire comes into wanting to brag about one's achievements, but the downside are many of having an open and freely accessible website or webpage that discusses criminal activity in the midst of a "gang crackdown."

***********

If you go back and read the old posts someone here claimed responsibility for shutting down the xv3gang.com web-site and forum by posting junk and hacking their web-site. Not sure if he actually did this but he seemed to know who the moderators of the web-site were. He even gave us the MySpace accounts of a couple of old cholas who he claimed moderated that site. It was pretty entertaining and disgusting to see the older cholas accounts with a bunch of cholo kid friends.

And of course the oldschoolfool Don Cholo was telling him that web-sites like xv3gang.com are just for people to talk about their barrio. I guess some Cholos/Mexicans think this as normal behavior for their wives and kids. And we wonder why the cholo lifestyle is so prevalent here in Los Angeles"

The screwball reads other gang blogs uses what he thinks sounds risque and always spells his words incorrectly on purpose.
It's a dead giveaway Wally don't be fooled by this wierdo.

I am guessing it is a cop posting those posts and trying to write like a stupid cholo. Because there is NO way a little stupid cholo could ever find your blog and start net-banging on your site. I can smell a cop from 100 yards away, also the way they walk, speak and write is a dead give away. Torrance police makes its biggest marijuana bust
Officers seize 4 tons of pot worth $12.8 million on the street. Move leads to 11 arrests and strikes at the heart of major distrubution network.
By Larry Altman
STAFF WRITER

In a huge weekend drug bust that cracked a midlevel narcotics trafficking organization, Torrance police seized 4 tons of marijuana with an estimated street value of $12.8 million, detectives announced Monday.

The discovery, along with 11 arrests, was said to be the largest marijuana seizure in the agency's history, putting a crimp in a distribution network that supplied pot to the Los Angeles area and locations out of state, police said.

Arrested on suspicion of possession for sale and distribution of narcotics were Rene Soto, 26, of Azusa; Jesus Magana, 21, of Riverside; Hector Pulido, 25, of Mexico; Jose Salazar, 50, of Bellflower; Jose Mendoza, 36, of Victorville; Saul Bojorques, 32, of Maywood; Jose Camacho, 19, of Ontario; Francisco Nieblas, 45, of Compton; and brothers Martin Campos, 36, and Manuel Campos, 31, both of Compton; and Carlos Campos, 19, of Compton.

"This is a max for us," said Torrance police Lt. Bob Picker, head of the department's vice and narcotics investigation unit.

Detectives wouldn't say what led them to the house in the 400 block of Weber Avenue in Compton, but they began a stakeout Saturday.

As they watched, a rental truck pulled away. Police stopped it, arrested the driver and searched the cargo area, finding several hundred pounds of marijuana packaged in 2-by-3-foot bales weighing about 25 pounds each.

Minutes later, a small pickup truck left the house. Police stopped it and arrested the driver, then found several more hundred pounds of marijuana in the truck bed.

Five more people were arrested a short time later when they drove away from the house in two vehicles.

Detectives served a search warrant on the house, finding hundreds more pounds packaged in bales and $15,100 in cash.

"Success," Torrance police Sgt. Brian O'Steen said.

The pot, each bale wrapped in plastic, is stored at the Torrance Police Department, filling the rear of a 24-foot-long truck. Investigators said the marijuana came from Mexico.

The narcotics trafficking suspects sold the bales to buyers, who in turn would have sold to lower-level dealers, Torrance police Lt. Rod Irvine said.

The drug was about six to eight levels of dealers away from a street seller, he said.

I understand 18th st. uses "XV3", which, adding up the roman and the english, comes to 18. But why an "X" and then a "13", which equals...23? Is there a 23rd street near Blythe? NOPE. (thank you, google maps).

Hey Sgt Valdemar I thought the OC immigration busts at the County Jail were targeting violent felons or burglars or habitual drunk drivers?
This article in the LA Times today looks like the Costa Mesa and OC cops are acting like the Gestapo and busting hard working Mexican bread winners on chickenshit tail light and other minor pullover excuses just to have them deported, leaving thier families to fend for themselves until the poor guy can cross the frontera again (which it looks like they always do)
Can't we enforce the immigration laws in a more human way or are these Mexicans just throw away people?

From the LA TImes
Increase in O.C.'s immigrant detainees
The number has tripled since December, overwhelming the local consulate. Some seeking help there have been deported before.
By Jennifer Delson, Times Staff Writer
March 31, 2007

The number of immigrants detained in Orange County has tripled since December, leaving the Mexican Consulate overwhelmed with requests to find relatives and help immigrants who within weeks reenter the United States illegally.

The jump in cases comes after Orange County jails and the Costa Mesa police have begun checking the immigration status of people who have been arrested.

Orange County Mexican Consul Luis Miguel Ortiz Haro said the number of cases he handled involving deported immigrants in February 2007 was twice the number from that month the year before.

Lines snake out the door of the consulate's Santa Ana office. Those immigrants whose cases need special handling make it to Ortiz Haro's office, where at any one time the hands-on consul talks to six or seven immigrant families at the same time.

Ortiz Haro checks local jails to see if immigrants are being held and determines whether they are able to hire attorneys or if the consulate can assist family members.

"What we deal with is what no one else deals with. We deal with the family members of all the people who are left behind when these people leave the country," he said.

"Usually, the one they catch is the one who was the breadwinner of the family. No one deals with that problem except us."

The consulate helps immigrants who left the country and reentered to get passports or seek lost back wages from employers. The office also provides Mexican identification cards, known as the matricula consular, for immigrants who need some form of identification.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement records show 187 immigrants detained in Orange County for possible deportation in December, 333 detained in January and 591 in February.

Ortiz Haro points to the cases of more than a dozen deported immigrants who quickly returned to Orange County from Mexico in recent weeks. In his bustling office, it doesn't take long to meet one.

Ortiz Haro believes the small sample is indicative of a larger trend of continuing illegal immigration: deportations and reentries. He described the cases of several immigrants deported in the last six weeks, although the details could not be verified by police or federal immigration officials:

• Christian, who was detained by federal immigration officials after driving without a license in Costa Mesa. His family appealed to the consulate because they could not find him. Six days later, he appeared at the consulate applying for a Mexican identification card.

• Jorge, who was detained by immigration officials after driving without a license in Costa Mesa and returned to Orange County in three days. It was the second time he had been deported in three months.

• Agustin, who was detained by immigration officials after being picked up by Costa Mesa police who erroneously thought he was a suspect in a recent crime. He was escorted to the border by officials. He returned 10 days later.

Costa Mesa Police Sgt. Marty Carver said officers might stop motorists for moving violations or missing car equipment, such as a tail light. A motorist without a driver's license or identification is taken to jail, no matter his national origin or ethnicity, he said. "We're doing the same work we always have done. Nothing has changed."

Jim Gilchrist, founder of the Minuteman Project, a citizen border-patrol group, said the reentry of illegal immigrants showed that President Bush wasn't doing enough to control illegal immigration. He said the immigrants wouldn't be coming back if employers couldn't hire them.

Reentries are "a finger in the eye of the U.S. public and elbow into the ribs of our president to get out of the way," he said. "We have to get [tougher] with the employer of illegals. We have to really crack down if we want these people out."

Returning to the United States after being deported can be a felony if the immigrant has been deported before. Many immigrants who are forced to leave, however, are not deported, but agree to leave under an accord known as voluntary departure, which does not carry penalties or a court hearing.

"A lot of these individuals have ties in this country, and while they are concerned about the prospect of arrest, they will try to come back," said Virginia Kice, spokeswoman for Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

More immigrants are being detained, she said, because jails in Los Angeles, Orange, San Bernardino and Riverside counties now have formal agreements with ICE that allow local sheriff's departments to check the immigration status of inmates. The federal agency also has launched aggressive operations to find illegal immigrants who are fugitives and has conducted more workplace raids.

The number of detentions in Los Angeles counties jumped from 214 in December to 545 in January but declined in February to 290. Detentions declined over the three-month period in San Bernardino-Riverside area from 112 in December to 106 in January to 94 in February.

In addition, ICE sent an agent to the city jail in Costa Mesa because of local officials' interest in immigration enforcement. The city is the only one in Southern California in recent years to have a federal immigration officer permanently stationed in the jail.

Ortiz Haro argues that the deportations are not deterring new immigrants or crime. He believes the immigrants are usually workers who have come to the United States simply to feed their families.

"It's not addressing the root causes of this immigration, and it's separating families," he said.

Costa Mesa Mayor Allan Mansoor, the primary advocate for increased immigration enforcement in his city, said the efforts are important because illegal immigrants commit serious crimes.

The report of the reentry of illegal immigrants "is disappointing, but it's not surprising," he said.

Even though reentries are evidence of a cat-and-mouse game with illegal immigrants, local enforcement is important because it "just demonstrates how we need enforcement at all levels," Mansoor said. "Cities are doing what they can. We need the federal government to secure our borders also."

Look at the picture of victim provided to the Los Angeles times. Did you see the X3 (Sureno Gang) in the upper right hand corner of the picture. Alex Contreras-Rodriguez, 17, a Latino youth (left), was stabbed on the campus of Washington Preparatory High School in Athens and died at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center at 3:40 p.m. Friday, March 23.

Sheriff's deputies said Contreras-Rodriguez was leaving school and got into a fight with other students, which culminated in the stabbing. A 16-year-old black youth was arrested Saturday in connection to the killing, which police called "gang-related." A kitchen knife was recovered from the roof of the school. Times story

Apparently your commenters enmasse indentified another phony post or they really do'nt give a hoot for communicating with any poor, lost soul cholito in need of re-indoctrination.. If someone were to just jump in here from oh say, Denmark and observe the tempo of response to your shout out they'd agree that you seem to have gathered quite a group of egos here. The old guy thinks eveyone wants to be him. He displays that paranoia between his long winded speeches regarding the "poor, hard working Mexicans" and how they're down-trodden at every juncture.
It seems like your comment block is a free forum for self-serving interests. It's different than the focused columns you see elsewhere, not to say it's not SWELL! It just seems funny how you request a response to your post and the first guy says its bogus and the next crew jumps off into his own speil. It's almost like a microcosmic view of society at large; how it ca'nt seem to stay on topic beyond the next bend in the road..

whats up people, its hard to say if its a cop or actual cholo, i know sometimes cops try to imitate cholos and mess up little details but sometimes cholos are actually so dumb that they mess up details and dont even notice, either because they dont know what the point of what theyre writing is, or theyre trying to do something no one else does, ive seen hella surenos put x13 before, especially the ones out of state or in mexico, but some fools in la have done it too, i dont think blythes biggest enemy right now is langdon either, i think its mostly pacoima, either way thats the brain dead mentality cholos have, like trying to overcompensate for being lame by talking all kinds of smack, and they all say the exact same thing, our hood is number one 187 on all these other hoods, then you find out on the streets they all go to the same high school and havent smoked eachother in like 9 years, like look at belmont, or practically any school in LA, monroe had blythe street langdon pbsl pcs pjb even humphreys and vaughns, they see eachother all the time, and then when some enemy sees the message from blythe they just go off with the same kind of bs, and after like 3 months of them going back and forth you can read the whole thing and see that not one of them ever said anything original, the whole thing was limited to like 20 words, sometimes you got like 5 different fools going at it, well i think if someone was to tell these kids that theres no future in the hood and theyll just wind up dead in prison or most likely all strung out on drugs and mooching off their families, they wont deny it, they just chose not to look at that issue, they procrastinate, and the more time goes by the less the odds of getting out will be, i dont see a solution, they have to want to get there stuff together, thats the key, like me it took me a while to fully get it together, i stopped kicking it when i was 17, and didnt fully renounce my hood until i was like 20, so it was like three years, so in a way i cant expect these kids on the streets to just walk away tomorrow, something has to klik in their head and it will take a long time, some kick back like me but never fully renounce their hood, they still think in the back of their minds that whenever it pops off again theyll back up the hood, i think the best oportunity LA had was in the late 90s early 2000s but now its too late and the gangs are back like in the early 90s, anyways ive spit game to alot of youngsters on the pc over the years and i think ive gotten to alot of them, or at least now they know that theres other options, some people think that since they havent graduated high school or have been arrested or have a record its too late for them to get it together, the weird thing is that after 10 years of thinking like that some of them actually find a way out, so i always tell them that no matter how bad it seems, you can change it, i was pretty down and out myself and in the course of one week turned it around and actually got a lausd diploma, i went to north valley occupation center, from there i joined the merchant marines and the rest is history, but i had already given up on high school, i was in einsein continuation for like 2 years and didnt pass one class in that whole time, i used to look across the fence at monroe where the kids would be graduating and thinking to myself, dam i guess i blew it, im going to be stuck in some minimum wage job living with my parents, it was pretty depressing, god bless the lausd, take a ged test and 8 classes and they give you a diploma, i should have just done that in 9th grade and be done with it, then when i was at north valley oc it was basically 90% old cholas there that had never graduated in the 70s and 80s and had gone back to take the ged plus 8 too, i was the only young fool there, it made me feel kind of lame but also made me happy i didnt have to go crawling through life and end up there like these old cholas had when they were already like 40, i was able to do it when i was 17,lol,, and if those old cholas can do it what excuse do all these young tuff bastards have, thats almost like against what they always tell you in the hood, if they applied the gang mentality to life they would be like donald trump, yet they only apply it when its convenient, my homies always used to tell me that dont try to act all hard when your in the barrio, your supposed to prove your hard when you go to the enemigas hood, theres alot of stuff like that that they teach you in the hood yet these fools all end up punking out where it really matters, their own life, thats like running up on a carload of enemigas by yourself, but then showing up at a cheerleader practice and getting your ass handed to you, because in this country taking on life is like taking on cheerleaders, when you go to college they give you financial aid, if you dont have money they give you wellfare and section 8, once you graduate theres so many job opportunities that they have to hire foreigners to fill them, like nurses teachers and cops, thats without even bringing up the military, which basically gives you state of the art training in almost any field from satelites nuclear science to culinary, i guess i notice those things because i wasted so many opportunities in my youth, i dont want to waste any more,, alright later peeps

To Barf in the hat,

That was a pretty good synopsis of Wally’s world, you speak with much wisdom oh wise Indian chief. There was one person (LA gangster) who did give advice to the cholito, but in reality once the stupid kid start with the “my barrio rifas and we kill our enimigas bull-shit” he has already been brainwashed, beyond the point where a few words will set him straight.

It does not matter really matter if this specific cholito’s comment is real, because there are thousands of kids who post this exact kind of stupidity all over the internet which is real. One only needs to look at MySpace and many other web-sites created by cholitos on the internet. If they have the intelligence to create a web-page why can’t they use that intelligence to see the dead-end future of gang-banging? I just wonder how we Latinos have allowed the barrio mentality to continue and flourish for so long, you would think the old cholos at some point in their lives would renounce this type of thinking. But I guess some people are going to be stupid all their lives.

Cholos kill each other on the streets and in prison they all fly the sureno flag, go figure. But anybody stupid enough to take their marching orders from heroin addicted EME members doing life in prison can’t be thinking rationally.

Made god save their souls

Wally what you are asking is something that is very hard to do from a computer screen. The youngster that sent that to be posted already knows that his days are numbered, and pretty much excepts it. There is nothing that we can really say behind a computer screen that can make a lasting impact on him. It's obvious that the vato is still very young, so hopefully he will turn it around before it's too late.

There will be a moment in his life when he will look for help. Maybe it will happen after the death of a close friend. Maybe when he sees his close friend's jefita and little carnalitos cry over the body of their loved one, maybe then. Or maybe it will happen when he is on life support fighting to stay alive and watching his jefita cry for him. Maybe it will just happen out of the blues one day. Whatever way it happens, I hope that it happens before it's too late. Think about it carnlito, there are thousands of vatos all over the prison system that would love to live their lives over again and make better decisions. You still have that chance. The help is there if you look for it. It's really up to you.

PFX13 = Primera Flats (East L.A.);
VNEX13 = Varrio Nuevo;
WFX13 = White Fence;
LHX13 = Logan Heights (San Diego);
I think you now get the picture. Most barrios (if not all) in Southern Cal are indeed identified in this manner. It has nothing to do with Roman numerals. The "x" is considered a "separation symbol", separating the barrio from the letter "13" (13th letter in the alphabet) currently denoting alliance with the Mexican Mafia. Class ends here. atc posts up an interesting website about Pasadena Race relations.

Pasadena Police cover up attacks on hard working Mexicans by blacks for over a year, never mentioning the "POM" program (Punch on Mexicans), never warning the Mexican/American community of these organized, ongoing assaults and robbery's. Chief of Pasadena Police stated previously and publicly that he feared a political backlash.
Now he's in the media claiming he wants an end to the violence by both blacks and Mexicans.
I think the lack of trust and faith in an unbiased Police Force is now rampant in the Mexican community. Politically, There seems to be a fear of a Black outcry and a who cares attitude towards the Mexican AMerican's.

Good luck in preventing violence against innocents but when the powers that be ignore violence against the powerless, or a people not as politically astute, then what is happening now in the streets and prisons, (It's not just Calif. but many places, Texas Prisons are in the midst of extreme tension and numerous lockdowns due to Black Brown violence) is not surprising.
It will get much worse (take a look at the Placasos in Black areas, MK!MK!MK! Mexican Killerz!) until there is an admission of "two sides to every story.

Damn! Has anyone else snapped to the fact that our Blythe St. poet has yet to respond to his comment being posted? Granted the positive response and "wise guidance" that Wally called for was shamefully sparse.. Like what? You guys do'nt care if this cholito redeems himself? Nevertheless the guy's delivery and chesty rant tells me we're dealing with either a hope-to-die kid deep off in the game OR another GAMER!! Some Homer with nuttin better to do than stir the pot..

If you've received subsequent comments that unravel this little scenario, Wally 'fess up. Give us your thoughts. You've jumped in here before mid-post and given your take. Do it now. Does'nt it seem a little strange that this guy has'nt resurfaced? Unless he's dead or in custody, or hiding in his mom's closet, or has been working double tours out of some LA precinct house? Quien sabes?

Anyway all good wishes for you Angelinos, players or not. There will be solutions to all the friction of late. Maybe Mother Nature will jump into the mix. Stranger things have happened. Think Vesuvius and Pompeii....

Hey Chapin(former gangster) how much time did you do?

It seems to me that you jumped ship before you really got into your barrio. I don't mean to question you, but how much can you know about the madness when you were just a peewee when you were riding? You did say that you dropped out when you were 17 years old didn't you? You also said that you grew up in the Sun Valley~No.Hollywood area, so how could you have joined TVR? I know that you said that you moved into their turf, but you were new there, so how could you just accept to get in just like that. It's seems to me that you did that because of pressure.

I'm not tripping, it's just that you should understand that you were never really FROM your barrio. That's what helped you get away from it the way that you did. You don't understand what it means to continue to be in good standing because you were never that deep in the madness.

Then what's the point of people continuously bringing up myspace pages, and saying things like, 'this is the problem, right here'? What do they mean by that? Is myspace making the gang problem worse? And, if this is true, am I to understand that if we ended myspace, violence would drop? Go ahead, keep answering that question by exaggerating the points I've made earlier.

I'll continue asking, anyway.

GJ, fotunately for us
"lost angelenos" volcanoes are the one thing we don't have threatening us, yet. We do however have other threats which could doom us, both from Mother Nature and ourselves.
Besides earthquakes, fires, mudslides, tsunamis, and the "Santa Ana winds", that along with a full moon and hot summer nights, guarantee murder, mayhem, serial killers stalking thier victims, riots, and dead gangster's bodies laying on top of rotten fruit, under some tree in an East LA alley.
How did we fuck up this paradise called Los Angeles so quick? (100 years!)City I was born in and still love, like an old flame, that turned from a young passionate lover to an old hooker, still beautiful and sexy but with a cynical, deadly, spirit.
Maybe we're just lucky to be here for the final curtain, it'll be a sight to see!
My old jefito used to tell me that LA is so violent because everyone came here from around the world, and then traveled across the US until they hit the Pacific Ocean, and couldn't go any further.
People who were never satisfied where they were and kept moving west, now they are at a dead end, the Ocean, like too many animals trapped in cage, lashing out destroying each other.

ANother take on this LA phenomena is Mike Davis' book "City of Quartz" if you haven't read it it's a good read that further details our seemingly immenent demise.

"Davis' City of Quartz points to a future in which the sublime and the dreadfull are inextricable; a future which does not belong to Southern California alone, but terrifyingly seems to belong to all of us." (Reproduced from Mediamatic)"

Region tries to deport gangs
Agencies are using immigration laws in an attempt to rid Los Angeles County of organized crime.
By Rachel Uranga
Staff Writer

As the LAPD cracks down on the city's most violent street gangs, federal and county officials have launched their own campaigns to apprehend and deport gangsters who are in the county illegally.

For the first time, federal immigration officers are tracking incarcerated gang members, and the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department is creating a database of gang members who are in the U.S. illegally. The FBI is also strengthening its ties to international police agencies and hopes to create a gang intelligence center in El Salvador.

"We want to connect the dots the same way we have been doing with counterterrorism," said Robert Loosle, special agent in charge of the FBI's Los Angeles office. "Up until now, there hasn't been the focus needed, and what we are trying to do is consolidate information collection and sharing efforts so that we can better address violent crime committed by gangs.

"Part of that is determining who is part of those gangs. As a result, we are looking at deportees -- where they are from, how they got here and what their connections are in the U.S."

The law enforcement efforts come as the Los Angeles Police Department launches its own effort to crack down on an estimated 40,000 gang members. Violent gang crime increased 14 percent citywide last year, and more than 40 percent in the San Fernando Valley.

Although law enforcement officials struggle to quantify the number of illegal immigrants who are gang members, some say nearly half of some gangs -- including Mara Salvatrucha, one of the city's most violent -- could be in the U.S. illegally. Gang experts say there are no studies to corroborate the figures, although they estimate the number is closer to 10 percent.

Given concerns about illegal immigrants who are gang members, some groups have called for revocation of Special Order 40, the LAPD policy that prohibits officers from asking a suspect's immigration status. But officials say the policy -- implemented nearly three decades ago to win the trust of witnesses in heavily immigrant communities -- is still a necessary part of the city's crimefighting efforts.

"Without it, victims of crime would be reluctant to come forward," said Lt. Paul Vernon, an LAPD spokesman. "This never precluded officers from arresting criminals and does not today."

But others say that using federal immigration laws to deport gang members could help solve the city's chronic gang problem.

"If you can't inquire into somebody's legal status, how are you going to combat these gangs coming out of Mexico and Central America?" said Tom Fitton, president of Judicial Watch, a conservative group that sued the LAPD last year challenging Special Order 40.

In the pending lawsuit, the group maintains the LAPD is spending taxpayer money to enforce a harmful policy. It cites a case in which officers were prevented from asking the immigration status of a Mexican national motorist, who later committed two robberies and tried to rape a woman in front of her child.

"There is an antagonism to federal immigration laws by city and police officials and (Special Order 40) is a way to undermine them," Fitton said

Agreed, that seems to be the theme here: two sides to every story, until they both get understood, there's going to be a lot of people getting killed...and a lot of it is coming out of the prison system.

I always hear cons saying "I've got nothing against (insert race here), but when you get to prison you get down with your race."

The gangbangers, netbangers, and pundits seem to miss the point, the real enemy is the way the judicial system is set up. The police may have POM, but they damn sure have POB policies in areas as well...

Not to lay it all at the feet of the cops. We need more, better trained, better paid, better equipped cops. It'll make for better cops, less POAnybody.

But we need so much more to address these issues properly. A sane drug policy, a sane prison system, a sane judicial system.

Till then, the only real winners are a few 9shotcallers and crooked cops, everybody else (I'm looking at you, blythe street) gets fucked.

The banging post of the Blythe streeter is legit. Its some little oversized dressed down new bootie gangster that is forced to attend school at your local Valley County or alternative charter schools. They get free access to the internet and computers. Allowed to look up almost anything that the school does not placed a block on. The problem is that you cant have 17 reject kids in a class and be behind their backs, checking to see what they are seeing and posting all day. They allow these rejects to be on the computer for hours and hours. Its a great way of getting them off your back and getting cooperation. Its called being a sorry ass teacher.
Either that or they are middle class to middle-high class reject gangsters with sorry ass parents that dont supervise their kids for a crappy minute. Spoiled reject children that have parents with money and decide to ignore their kid until he gets booked for a 187 pc - murder. Typical Valley latino families...mama nipple sucking crybabies.
I dont see the gain on providing computers at these schools. It seems more of a reward for these kids than anything else. The County and Charter schools in LA should not have computers in classrooms period. Your really rewarding a child instead of teaching them a lesson. As I remember in High School, you took computer classes as an elective and not provided as a reward for good behavior.
I think this guy was upset over my "Top 10" valle list. I placed the Languas above the Burritos.
The only thing burritos should be more proud of- is that the Languas have recruited and jumped in more paisas and even lower category - CHUNTES

The old guy got it right this time. However the bodies this weekend were not lying on top of rotten fruit, but they were in alleys in East L.A. and South Central L.A. And who fucked up L.A.? I remember a comment last week from someone being proud of the city of Los Angeles and its accomplishments. I guess now we know what the people of Los Angeles have accomplished (murder and mayhem). Note to self: Never walk in alleys or around rotten fruit in Los Angeles.

Weekend Homicides: South Los Angeles and LAPD Hollenbeck
(These cases have not yet been reported on a Coroner's list. Information is from law enforcement.)

Jefferson Park: Kurtis Livingston, 19, a black man, was killed in the 1300 block of West Jefferson Boulevard in LAPD's Southwest Division at about 11:20 p.m. Saturday, March 31. He was walking when assailants in light-colored car pulled alongside him and shot and killed him. He died at the scene.

Boyle Heights: Luis Romo, 21, was shot in an alley east of Soto Street near Boulder Street in LAPD's Hollenbeck Division at about 1 a.m. Sunday April 1. He was walking in the alley when a silver SUV pulled up and someone shot him. He ran for his life, jumped a nearby fence at 2426 Boulder Street, and died in a yard there.

Crenshaw: Gerald Jones, 33, a black man, was shot in a motel parking lot at 6345 S. Crenshaw Avenue in LAPD's 77th Street Division at about 1 a.m. Sunday, April 1. Detectives said that he and some friends had rented a room at the motel, and had quarreled with men who also wanted a room. Gang rivalry was probably also at issue, they said. Jones died at the scene.

South Los Angeles: Anthony Preston James, 38, a black man, was shot and killed in the 4400 block of Santo Tomas Avenue in LAPD's Southwest Division at about 2:15 a.m. Sunday, April 1. A man had confronted him in the alley, then fled.

My good deed for the day, for all the lonely people here (you know who you are).
NARRATOR:
“There are times when I’m overwhelmed with feelings of loneliness,” admits Max Allison of San Rafael, CA. “Even if I’ve been on some dates, overall I still feel very alone.”

Max isn’t the only one feeling this way. In fact, many single people feel lonely as they search for partners. “You can feel lonely when you are by yourself and have no one to connect with or when you are with others who are emotionally unavailable,” explains Rosalene Glickman, author of Optimal Thinking: How to Be Your Best Self.

To deal with your feelings effectively, she suggests asking yourself a few questions:
What am I thinking or doing to create these feelings of loneliness?
What is the best way to reach out and connect with a specific person/people today?
What are the most loving actions I can take for another person/others today?
Your list is a plan of action. Learn to avoid those behaviors or thoughts that create or exacerbate your loneliness. Engaging in the positive activities will help, and they’ll keep you moving forward instead of wallowing.

There are other ways to keep your loneliness in check, such as:
Get involved. “Service is one way to maintain positive connections with people,” says Susanne Alexander, author of Can We Dance? Learning the Steps for a Fulfilling Relationship. “Single Volunteers Inc. is a good organization to try, as is involvement with a religious congregation with a service mission.”
Engage friends. “The best way I know to beat the lonelies is to hang out with my close friends,” says Dave Ruud of Madison, WI. “Spending time with my buddies always makes me feel like I’m a part of a team. We help each other out.”
Have fun. “People don’t knock on our doors to find us, but they will spot us if we’re doing what we love,” explains Lewisburg, PA-based Rev. Ann Keeler Evans. “We’ll be surrounded by people who are interesting and interested in us. A person doing what he or she loves is someone whom everyone wants to meet. Your future beloved will find you fascinating because you will find your life fascinating.”
Write it down. “When I start feeling lonely, I get out my journal and start writing,” says Tyleen Rodriguez of Tucson, AZ. “It helps me process my thoughts, follow my progress and plan for the future. Getting those feelings out of my system makes them go away faster.”

Why Drink on the Job?
Because most jobs suck. If you love your job, if the workday just flies by and you have to be dragged away from your desk at the end of the day, you don’t need alcohol. You need a psychiatrist. If you dread going to work, if the workday drags along like a crippled slug crawling across sandpaper, if clocking out feels like a jail door springing open, then a little booze can go a long way toward making a nightmarish death march of a shift seem a hop, skip and sip through a field of flowers.

You may wonder if you can actually perform your job while drinking, which is a ridiculous notion. Jackie Gleason threw together one of the greatest feats of television history (The Honeymooners) while fully in the bag. Alfred Hitchcock directed some of the finest movies ever committed to celluloid in between champagne breakfasts and gin-soaked lunches. So did Orson Welles. A prominent biographer estimates that Sir Winston Churchill spent the entirety of World War Two with a measurable amount of alcohol in his bloodstream. And if Sir Winston could survive the Blitz, rally a reeling nation and eventually whip up on millions of Nazis, surely you can throw together a spreadsheet by Friday.

The best reason for drinking on the job arrives with the realization that a quarter of our adult lives is ritualistically sacrificed to the cruel tyrant known as Working for a Living. For most of us, it’s something we have to do, but would rather not. Drinking, on the other hand, is something we choose to do, and would like to do more of. So why not invade that which we don’t like to do with that we very much like to do? Indeed, why not have the good times, for once, spill over into the bad. Eh, sir?

whats up gente, im back, former gangster, yeah its hard to get where im coming from without getting the full timeline of my life, which im pretty sure resembles that of alot of people in los, i first came to the usa in 1984 to glendale where we lived until like 88 when my parents bought a house in sun valley on lehigh and penrose, we lived there til like 90,thats when vineland i guess was barely coming up, they were pretty well known in the area and i did see a couple of placazos, and im pretty sure one of those fools jacked my bike from in front of the seven eleven, either way from there we moved back to gdale, i guess my parents thought it was a better area, we lived in an apartment right next to pacific parque on the corner of vine and kennilworth which is gone now, back then kennilworth and pacific park in general was a gathering spot for south side toonerville i guess was the older night owls klik, my brother which is 2 years older than me joined up in 91 and got pretty messed up or caught up in all kinds of drama so my moms shipped him to guatemala to live in my grandmas house to supposedly straighten him out, meanwhile i was friends with all the fools that would make up the next wave of tvr but we werent even into that stuff, we even used to hate the gs since they would always mess with us, either way then my brother came back and we moved to panorama city in like 93, from there i was cool for like one year but as soon as we went to monroe i went to kick it with my carnal and i just was heading in that direction, thats when i went to gdale with my brother and got jumped in, i had just came to the point that i looked up to tvr and thought it was the downest hood, once i got in it was all down hill, i was enrolled in school but i basically would ditch like every day and take months off here and there, i dont know how much deeper you can get in the hood other than catching a 25 with an l like all the fools i went to elementary school with, i dont know if i was lucky but i never got caught by the cops, at least not with anything on me, actually i got sweated and searched with stuff on me and never got caught, ive been around when the whole spot has been getting lit up by the enemies, i got jumped hella times, seeing homies go to jail every week catching serious cases, its true that it desensetizes you, i was full blown tvr though, i know its hard to believe once somebody turns around so much like i did, what i ended up realizing is that any group that calls itsel a hood, is automatically anti raza, and a waste a time, and i will say right here and now it was all in vain, my homies dying and going to jail, all the kids that got smoked even our enemies we were killing some of the best people in our raza, once you call it what it is its pretty hard to still see any benefit left in it, at about the time other vatos where getting locked up i was luckily getting my ish together, i think the reason i was able to do what i did is because i lived in panorama city, and the homies we had right there were all 100% paisas, those fools barely knew what a barrio or varrio even meant, on top of that they all got locked up, and all the people in gdale that knew me were locked up, and a few of the ogs that where around told me the barrio was going down hill and they had no love for the youngsters running around now not even knowing what theyre doing so they told me if was smart i would leave the hood, and they told me too that i wouldnt be considered a ranker and they would feel bad to see someone like me waste their life in the hood, after they told me that i was like hell no i aint leaving my homies hanging but pretty soon i realized it was a lost cause just like the ogs said, and alot of other neighborhood politics going on and realizing what time it really was in my hood and in all of LA, its not the last time ive had to chose a path and abandon another, i still think i managed to pull out a good atitude and alot of experience from the hood, i never did time though, im far from being an og, im just some fool that comes up with angles that the average vato either doesnt look at or doesnt like to aknowledge, i was around the streets of panorama city at 3-6 in the morning in 94-7, glendale and atwater, you would have seen me strolling up and down columbus the only fool there that didnt look like a paisa, and actually the only one that spoke english, so that made me stick out even worst than i did in glendale, and i wont lie when i was in the hood i really thought it was going to be por vida, both me and my carnal were like that, my carnal was one of the fools that had the tvr tat on his forehead, once i went to the merchants i was still thinking i was down and would come back to the hood once i finished the training program, but once i got through the program and had been through some really hard core working situations and traveled around the world i slowly started to change my views, by early 2000 i had developed a raging anti gang mentality, i really was from the hood and i still have the tatoos, other than that though how many people really grow up in the hood that get jumped in, in glendale half the latinos that grew up there would never join a gang, most the fools that where hard core members of tvr had moved in at around junior high, i still had deeper roots than them, my peeps have been around the way in gdale since the early 70s, probably the first chapines to come there, and then sunvalley tujunga nohollywood gdale northeastLA is pretty much the same general area, my pops also had a mexican restaurant on 58th street and hooper but thats a whole other story, thats what my pops did with the money from the selling the house in sun valley, hooked the restaurant up into an underground night club, that was before and after the riots so you know where that story ended, his restaurant was still there because there was korean liquor stores and swap meets on both ends of the blocks, and this bock was black but they actually had love for my dad so they didnt mess with it, i used to go there on the weekends and sit in there with all the gorudos,,lol, he had picheras too, thats when i first got hooked on rancheras and coridos, thats why i fit like a glove in browntown, its like sun valley was when i was a kid, except here no ones gona try to gank my ish,,lol,, man i remember when i went to vinedale elementary the blanquitos would drive down from a private school i guess in tujunga and challenge the eses to rumbles, like out of the 50s, thats where bville is now, lol,, except no blanquitos, and only 1 chapin to hog all them country broads up, alright later peeps much love

Cyberbullying happens when adults use the Internet, cell phones, or other technology to send or post text or images intended to hurt or embarrass another person. It's a problem that 43 percent of adults reported being victims of in the past year.

DON QUIXOTE!

Maybe we're just lucky to be here for the final curtain, it'll be a sight to see!

real mofos are just that quiet killas....dont come around bragging and flying a flag so all you can know who they are. This blog is very informational and eye opening for people who dont know crap about the life one has to live if you choose to.

In another note...Ip traces work wonders here. But dont let a young rabbit tell you about ip traces, dns look up, etc.

Let me give you an example....the image of the hard candy list, if you had half a brain you could have had an ip logger logging every ip add that viewed it, once you got an ip you can then go and grad your cmd promt and start tracing....sooner or later your run into adresses or registrants. One being....and LAPD office....then im sure the police officers behind those tax payed DELL's realized....oops I FUCKED UP.

anyway, yeah soooo, net banging....waste of time cause you aint gonna do shit on the PC but look like a moron and give the one time a bunch of info when they look at your dumb ass comments....handle that shit on the calles.

Mexico City to be one, giant Wi-Fi hotspot by 2008: mayor.
All of Mexico City will be one free, wireless Internet hotspot by 2008, Mayor Marcelo Ebrard announced Monday.
The project "will accelerate the technological development of the city," Ebrard said after signing a contract with the Chinese telecoms and networking giant ZTE.
The project began as a hook-up for security cameras around the Mexican capital, he said.
"Why connect 4,000 cameras with fiber (optic cable) if everyone has wireless?" he said.
"If we are going to deploy 4,000 (security) cameras, I want them to be Wi-Fi," Ebrard said.

I'm a load who's only opposition on this blog seems to be short sighted people who's debating skills are limited to distractions and sarcasm.

If you can come up with a better reason for the Norte/Sur beef than the violent culture of Los Angeles, and a better reason for the violent culture of Los Angeles than that of the historic police brutality against Blacks and Mexicans by various law enforcement agencies in the region, then I'm all ears.

It's especially difficult when the two of you are'nt so polarized (as is the case w/your latest dance partner).. Thanks LA Compatriot, and your absolutely correct, good eventually always triumphs over evil and will here in LA too. It's still the greatest place on earth in my opinion with way more plus's than negatives.

One of the downsides of your compliment though is that it has now set off our own Mr. Anonamouse, and his rage is apparent in the numerous, sophomoric, and transparent blogs he will hemorhage out, usually followed by an obscure website address after every sentence.

His anti Mexican sentiment is also very apparent here and the rage is almost palpable. Very disturbing insight into the person.
Here's an example;

Anonomouse says;

"Below are few examples of the “excellent” communication skills of our Latino youth who were educated in our outstanding Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD). Notice the eloquence in their written words. I am anxiously waiting to hire these young Latinos to enhance the quality of my current work force. These students are the outstanding results of LAUSD's $13.4 billion annual budget.

What is the point here? Is this person saying that all Mexican/American youth are gang members and write this way?

Is the blogger saying that the LA schools and taxpayers are just wasting money on a bunch of brown cretins?
Seems he is singleing out Latino youngsters (and their parents by proxy) as the source of all problems in the schools and society.
He evidently feels this way because he is a "post up machine" of alleged gang placaso's and ridiculous gang jibberish that he seems to want to smear the whole raza with.
He quotes a 13 Billion $ LAUSD budget??? and seems to insinuate that it is a waste of money. I would only say that Gov Ahnold's proposal of 9 or 10 Billion for new prison construction should be shelved, all non violent drug offenders should be immediately transfered to the streets or drug intervention centers and the 9 or 10 Billion could be used to build more schools and pay for a better educational experience.
Better educated students, no matter what there heritage is, will be more useful as taxpayers than as fuel for the all consuming Prison/Justice system.
Convicts don't pay taxes!
Better Schools less Prisons!

I see where you are at now, chapin. Like I said before I'm happy to see that you made it out.

The fact that some OG homies of yours stepped up with some wise words for you is probably not believed by some in this blog. Many here seem to think that gangsters are incapable of stepping up like that.

I never questioned the fact that youngsters put in work. Remember I'm from a varrio that was all youngsters when we busted out in 86', so I know first hand how much work youngsters put in. The point that I was trying to make is that it's always easier to get out as long as you never touch the politics. And that mostly happens when a vato has done some time and comes in contact with the stuff in there. Youngsters can sometimes be involved in them but it's very rare.

******

Hey chapin a few posts ago you stated that the Mexican government had changed it's ways. And that the protests in Oaxaca were proof of that. Well I don't know if you're aware that many people were killed during those protests, and many others are still missing thanks to that reformed government. When Fox ordered the troops in there, it appears that he also gave them the thumbs up to handle it the old fashion way. An American journalist that was documenting the protest was the first to die. He filmed his own death and it seems that he was singled out by sniper fire. After his death the government troops went after the APPO leaders. Many of their bodies have turned up dead and with clear signs of torture. Many more have simply vanished, and even though many witnesses saw them picked up by government troops the government continues to deny that they have them. Anyways if you are intrested in the truth here's the website.

I was surprised when SV VBS used the word barrio and not varrio. And another OG said he would never use the word barrio. I see a need for a definitive guide for cholo linguistics and maybe even a beginners guide maybe a Spanglish for dummys book.

former gangster, sorry my posts are so long and bunched together
i discovered something at the bottom of my keyboard recently called a space bar
i guess almost anything in the world can be open to interpretation, if one hood puts barrio and one puts varrio that has nothing to do with anything, the proper spanish is barrio so that isnt americanized, unless you meant varrio was americanized which i would say it is, same like the very word cholo i dont think that many people still use it,
anyways i went to that site about oaxaca and it was pretty dope, the only thing i can say is that a group like that is going to be biased, i wouldnt be surprised if some people got smoked in the demonstrations and especially an american camera man because those guys are always finding their way directly into the line of fire, and i know in general mexicos government may be very oppresive to native peoples,
but in an overall sense mexico is way better, of course its all based on opinion but from what i saw especially in the heart of yucatan, and a little in chiapas, although chiapas was definitly more backward, but still way better than i expected, i never had to bribe one cop or soldier in the whole trip, i never even got sweated, even one time i was going the wrong way in a one way street in merida the motorcycle cop just cursed at me and told me to turn my car around but he didnt pull me over or give me a ticket, i was already getting some pesos ready, lol,
i guess to some people the glass is always half empty though, lol, in chiapas a 2003 ford f-150 judicial had started flashing his lights right behind me and i was like okay i knew it would happen eventually, so my dumass started pulling over and then the cop spoke through his speaker and said, siga no es con usted, pretty sure he said pendejo after he turned the mic off but still thats the kind of thing that even in the usa i would be surprised to have happen,
i was asking for it too because i never got my visa to go to mexico, i just rolled around with a passport, my moms had that little carnet they give to people that have businesses in mex so i was hoping i would be cool, then the customer service you get from pretty much everywhere is the same as the usa, i know back in the day we used to go with my pops all the way to la paz and even just to ensenada and you could already tell the quality of everything drop off,
the only thing that killed me was having to pay those expensive tolls, sometimes they where up to 150pesos, but even more amazing is that it was bumper to bumper traffic in those toll roads, meaning normal people from there would rather pay the toll, not like us cheap raza in the states that are always trying to find side roads to avoid tolls,
obviously since i never really lived in mexico i may be wrong on some of my observations, and if you compare it pound for pound with the usa it will always fall short, i would recomend anyone to go to mex though, about buying land and investing there i would still need more assurance though, because i have heard plenty of horror stories, and my own pops lived one of them back in the 70s when he used to work on the oil platforms in ciudad del carmen in tabasco, over night they fired all the foreigners and his 2000 peso bank account now translated to like $13 or some ridiculous number,
i would first buy a house in matamoros and test the water first, if its all good im going to dive head first probably into chetumal or campeche,
yeah its true about youngsters not being involved in alot of the politics, and its also true that the ones really calling the shots are in cahoots with all the enemigas, but that doesnt mean a youngster wont know what time it is, as far as my hood it was a small minority of the ogs that would even think of telling me something like that, the majority would have said i was on the leva, same like most hoods, i was just lucky i had some one lookout for me, anyways the truth with most hoods is that if they had head even from the late 80s they would already be considered ogs, even though the hood may be from 1919 or something, when i was a youngster in 94 the average older head was from the late 80s, due to alot of homies constantly getting locked up, the vatos in chevy chase park probably had more ogs from the 70s since they didnt get locked up as often, but because of internal drama we wouldnt listen to them anyways, maybe the fools in tujunga which i only met a handful of them had more ogs but they where probably from the mid to late 80s, i dont know the whole story but i think they didnt even join tvr until the mid 80s, at least the dukes did, the fools from pacas considered ogs the vatos from the early 90s,lol, i wont lie we did too, other northeast hoods i know aves 43rd and hazard and frogtown had some real ogs from the early 70s, their youngsters where like 26 27, wsls elmwood rascals crazies btr ms hlp, etc, i would be surprised if they had ogs from even the late 80s, some of those were started in the late 80s,
i think its due to the cycle of getting locked up, like one og would come around for 2-3 months and lay down a gameplan and be locked up again, then alot of ogs from the south side ended up defecting to the north side, probably since lapd hadnt been to chevy chase parque since the late 80s,lol, then on top of all that if you looked in glendale in this time there were more fools from vanowen street than from tvr, they had clanton bolas armenian power, alot of tagers, glendale pd would specifically target us and leave the other hoods alone on purpose like divide and conquer, same with wsls, they wouldnt get sweated like us, and its obviously our own fault because we were seriously messing up gdale,,lol, the raza that moved there had less of chance of becoming gangsters than if they moved to figueroa and ave 19-66, or bemis, thats just one of those things that makes surenos surenos, i still dont think its the lapd because they barely even show up, if people complain about that in every boyz in the hood type movie then they still say lapd abuses them, wtf,,lol,
anyways though i have alot of respect for svvbs, i probably didnt go through half of what he did but i can still apreciate its impact, i knew vbs' rep and i think he has alot of cohones for speaking on the issues around his bvarrio out in the open, if it wasnt for people like him how would the main stream population ever hear whats really going on, whether its something pleasant to hear or not i think its still better to know than it is to be in the dark, lol, don quixote has alot of insight too into the older times, for someone like me that had a completely different immigrant experience its rare to hear about those times, and even to youngsters around today i would doubt if they know what it was like for the peeps that came here in the early 80s much less the vatos around on the calles in the 60s,, i still have to say my all time favorite poster is tj jailer, he spoke on more things and had more knowledge than anyone ive ever encountered, even vatos that did time in those pintas, that makes this a pretty good blog, and about the juras coming on here to gather info, first of all the jura probably has more time on the streets of the barrio than most the eses do, they have dozens of cases and snitches and sources of info, most the info they get comes from hard core thugs turning states evidence, not from xwannabe thugs talking smack on various topics,,lol,,
alright peeps much love alrato

If Wally allows you to "defend" yourself then attempt to do so with some class, humor, or semi sophistication.
Don't just take others post up's and post them up again with your handle on them, or start with the goofy unfunny websites after every sentence.
Try and be at least slightly original or else your defense just consists of the old playground response of "I know you are, but what am I!"
Come on buddy give it a shot, be real, it can't be that bad.

How to get on the FBI's list of top fugitives.

April 3, 2007
Kansas City police arrested a woman from the FBI's Most Wanted Fugitives list on Saturday, minutes before a segment about her aired on national television. She was 24 years old and had committed just one murder, yet Shauntay Henderson stood in the company of infamous figures like Osama Bin Laden and Whitey Bulger. How do criminals get their names on the list?

They wait for a spot to open. Whenever a top-ranked fugitive dies or gets caught, the central FBI office surveys its 56 field offices for possible replacements. (A few of the Most Wanted have also been declared "inactive" and removed from the list.) A committee decides which of the field offices' nominees are most dangerous to society, and whose cases would benefit the most from added publicity. The list isn't always limited to the top 10 fugitives, though. At various times, it's been as short as seven or eight names after a string of arrests, and as long as 16 when a group of affiliated criminals all made the list together. (Fugitives beyond the traditional 10 are called "Special Additions"; Ramzi Ahmed Yousef, who planned the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, warranted such an addition.) Still, most fugitives have to wait their turn. Even Osama Bin Laden had to queue up—he joined the list in June 1999, almost a year after the embassy bombing in Kenya.

The FBI says it doesn't apportion slots for particular crimes, but observers point out that the list regularly includes those accused of certain types of unlawful activities. In recent years, for example, the Most Wanted comprised the usual mix of a cop killer, a drug dealer, a sex offender, a serial killer, an escaped convict, someone who murdered his family, and an old-school mafia boss. In the 1960s and 1970s, political agitators like Angela Davis were sometimes listed. Robbers, who showed up often in the early years of the list, continue to make the list.

Dutiful citizens sometimes need a little monetary incentive, of course. The FBI started offering rewards of up to $50,000 in 1997, then bumped up the figure to $100,000 in 2004. (A few fugitives warrant higher price tags. Bin Laden is worth $27 million, while Victor Manuel Gerena, who stole $7 million from a security company, has a $1 million bounty.) But it's not clear whether the rewards have made a big difference. The FBI hasn't captured more fugitives since they start using bounties. In fact, the Bureau's most successful years were during the 1950s and 1960s.

Chicago Cop Accused in 3rd Bar Beating. Well hell.

The only surveillance video to appear public so far showed Anthony Abbate, a 12-year veteran of the force, punching, kicking and throwing a bartender to the floor on Feb. 19 after she reportedly refused to continue serving him drinks...

CHICAGO (AP) - For the third time this year, surveillance videotape has surfaced of an off-duty Chicago police officer involved in a bar fight, authorities said.
The latest incident became public one day after Police Superintendent Philip J. Cline announced he would retire early. The department has been struggling with the fallout from the previous tapes after one, showing an off-duty officer attacking a female bartender, appeared worldwide on the Internet and cable news channels.

Prosecutors were reviewing the new tape and hadn't yet decided whether to file charges, said John Gorman, a spokesman for the Cook County state's attorney's office.
The latest complaint was filed last week—before Cline's announcement—by an off-duty police officer visiting from Washington, D.C., Police Department spokeswoman Monique Bond said.

Bond would not identify the officer involved or talk about details of the video.
Until prosecutors decide what to do, "we're just not at liberty to discuss it," she said.

http://www.netscape.com/viewstory/2007/04/04/chicago-cop-accused-in-3rd-bar-beating/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.breitbart.com%2Farticle.php%3Fid%3DD8O9RLO80%26show_article%3D1%26catnum%3D0&frame=true

Police have faced allegations that someone tried to bribe and then threatened the bartender to keep her from pressing charges in the case. They also have been criticized for waiting a month to arrest Abbate, who initially was charged with a misdemeanor but was later charged with felony aggravated battery.

Six other officers were removed from street duty after they were accused of beating four businessmen in a bar on Dec. 15. They have not been charged in the incident, and the videotape of that confrontation has not been seen by the public.

Cline has said police were called to the bar about the fight but a sergeant who was among the officers involved waved them off.

Cline didn't discuss the tapes when he announced his retirement, though he said it was difficult to leave during "these times of challenge."

He had promised to change the way the department responded to allegations of misconduct, including moving faster to get officers accused of misconduct off the street.

Mayor Richard M. Daley has called the beating incidents "unacceptable" and said the department moved too slowly to take action. The Rev. Jesse Jackson, head of the Chicago-based Rainbow/PUSH Coalition, urged that future allegations of police misconduct be subject to review by a civilian board.

The judge has ordered the cop to stay away from social settings.

53-year-old O.C. man jailed after vehicles vandalized
By a Times Staff Writer
12:38 PM PDT, April 4, 2007

A 53-year-old Latino man was in jail today after about three dozen vehicles were vandalized at a Laguna Hills apartment complex.

Anthony Rivera of Laguna Hills was charged with felony vandalism and is being held on $20,000 bond, said Orange County Sheriff's Lt. Lloyd Downing.

Residents at the complex in the 25800 block of Via Lomas reported hearing windows being smashed shortly after 11 p.m. Tuesday. Windows were broken and paint sprayed on between 30 to 40 vehicles, Downing said.

Sheriff's deputies arrested Rivera on a bike trail in a county park behind the complex

Chapin you are right about Mexico. It has gotten better but it still has a long way to go. The only reason that the poorest of the poor even survive is because they probably have someone on this side of the border sending them a few centavos. Hopefully their new government which is completely pro~business will make good decisions for their people. No more of that NAFTA type shit that has only ruined many peoples lives and forced millions to come over here.

Anyways, that (biased?) group APPO is just the regular everyday people of Oaxaca organizing in their opposition to the corrupt state governor. And the name of the American journalist that was killed was Brad Will, a true hero in my opinion.

Independent journalism is too important to lose.

Anyways, someone posted a little something about ACADEMIA SEMILLAS DEL PUEBLO. I'm happy to see that they had their charter renewed. I believe that this type of school can help out a lot in our communities and maybe even help in keeping kids away from gangs. I hope that a similar Calmecac is established in the Valle one day.

Feds to bolster war on gangs
The D.A. and L.A. city attorney want to deport illegal immigrants even before trial. Data on suspects will be shared.
By Patrick McGreevy and Richard Winton, Times Staff Writers
April 5, 2007

Suspected gang members who are in the country illegally and are arrested for even minor crimes could face quicker deportation under new policies unveiled Wednesday by the top two prosecutors in Los Angeles.

City Atty. Rocky Delgadillo and L.A. County Dist. Atty. Steve Cooley said they are partnering more closely with federal immigration officials and attorneys to identify the gang members for deportation, adding that illegal immigrants appear to make up a significant portion of the gang population.

The partnership with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement marks a departure for local law enforcement, which generally keeps federal immigration officials at arm's length and largely prohibits Los Angeles police officers from asking the immigration status of either crime victims or suspects.

Inquiring about immigration, authorities have long argued, would spread fear across immigrant communities and make it difficult for police to investigate crimes.

But Delgadillo and Cooley said they are now working with federal officials to deport some gang suspects before they are convicted of new crimes.

All suspected gang members charged with breaking gang injunctions as well as other offenses such as graffiti vandalism, and loitering are being checked for immigration violations, Delgadillo said.

Those whose criminal records show illegal status are turned over to federal authorities. New protocols are being developed to smooth that sharing of data. Delgadillo has also assigned three prosecutors to the U.S. attorney's office to help prosecute gang members for immigration violations.

"Undocumented immigrants are a large source of the members of gangs and have been part of the surge that has occurred in the San Fernando Valley," Delgadillo said. "If we know there are gang members, we should be in the position to discern every law they have broken, including whether they have come here illegally."

Cooley also proposed Wednesday assigning some of his prosecutors to help federal attorneys go after gang members who illegally reenter the country after being deported following a criminal conviction — a group that he said is not being aggressively prosecuted.

"We should not have to wait for them to do another crime," Cooley said in an interview. "We need to identify transnational gang members and deport them."

A census found recently that more than 20% of L.A. County Jail inmates — about 40,000 people — and more than 10% of Orange County Jail inmates were illegal immigrants.

Cooley and Delgadillo's stance won immediate support from federal immigration officials, who said the issue is central to L.A.'s new campaign to quell gang violence, which rose last year.

The immigration agency announced Wednesday that it has assigned nine new agents and a supervisor to the Valley to target violent gang members who are also illegal immigrants. Overall, the agency now has 70 agents in Southern California targeting such people, compared with nine a few years ago.

"We are dealing with threats to public safety," said Robert Schoch, special agent in charge of the Southern California office. "Any information that helps us do our job more effectively and make the community safer is welcome."

However, immigrant rights advocates denounced the expanded cooperation between local prosecutors and federal immigration agents, predicting that it will make illegal immigrants — out of fear of deportation — less likely to cooperate with police.

"It erodes the public trust in law enforcement," said Angelica Salas, executive director of the Coalition for Humane Immigration Rights of Los Angeles. "The lines are blurring."

The debate over what role local law enforcement should play in immigration checks has roiled communities across Southern California.

In Orange County, the Sheriff's Department and Costa Mesa Police Department were the subject of national headlines and protests by immigrant rights groups last year after the agencies agreed to have some officers be trained by the federal agency to assist with immigration checks in the jails.

The checks began at the Orange County Jail system in January, and during the first five weeks officials identified 639 inmates who appeared to be here illegally.

Los Angeles Police Chief William J. Bratton reiterated Wednesday that he opposes any change in the department's immigration policy, known as Special Order 40, which prohibits officers from asking anyone about their immigration status.

Funny and interesting article in the LA Times.
It may be that with Mexico's life expectancy rate almost as high as ours, and the birthrate almost as low as ours, things are about to change drastically.
Who knows? In a few years there could be hundreds of Gringo's looking for work in front of the Home Depot in Tijuana or Mexicali.

We could use the Border Patrol and the fat assed Minutemen and other anti immigrant watchdog groups to man the Canadian border to prevent the Mexicans from leaving.

{"Will we have enough workers?
In the near future, the U.S. may be begging people to cross the border.
By Shannon O'Neil, SHANNON O'NEIL, a fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations, teaches in the political science department at Columbia University and is working on a book about Mexico-U.S. relations.
April 5, 2007

AS MANY IN Congress, in the media and in homes across the country debate the best way to stem the flow of undocumented workers across the Rio Grande, they don't seem to be aware that this perceived problem is becoming increasingly irrelevant. In fact, the immigration concern of the future could well be how to entice Mexicans and other Latin Americans to cross into the U.S. in the numbers we need.

Mexico is undergoing a demographic transition. According to the Mexican census bureau, long gone are the days of families with six, seven or 10 kids. Instead, Mexican women now average 2.2 births — only slightly above the average 2.1 births that occur in the United States and that are considered the "replacement rate," the level needed to maintain a stable population over time. Life expectancy in Mexico has increased to 75 years, compared to 77 in the United States. With fewer births and longer lives, by 2050, Mexico will become as old as the United States. In short, Mexico is about to age dramatically.

In the last 10 years, nearly 5 million Mexicans have come to the U.S. They've done many jobs, especially agricultural and construction work, keeping our food prices low and enabling the recent housing boom. The "pull" of plentiful U.S. jobs and higher salaries has been an important factor in this migration, but so has the "push" of Mexico's fast-growing, economically-active population, combined with weak job creation.

This situation is about to change. Job growth is a key component of President Felipe Calderon's agenda in Mexico. But even without faster job creation there, migration pressure — the "push" — will ease. According to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, the economically-active population — which grew by more than 1 million new members each year during the 1990s — now adds just 500,000 annually. Over the next 10 years that means about 5 million fewer new workers compared to the previous decade — a number that's roughly equal to the population of undocumented Mexican immigrants in the United States. This suggests that demography may accomplish what border enforcement has not. In the next decade, the tide of northbound Mexican labor will likely recede.}"

Hey Wally, meet one of my drinking partners, and he can tell it like it is! Although after I read about the dangers of drinking, I gave up reading...

The professor writes,

The Barrio.

The forbidden Latino ghetto, be it in Los Angeles, Chicago, Brooklyn, Miami, or Dayton, can be an intimidating neighborhood to you gringos. People in the barrio speak Español. There are the foreign national flags hanging from balconies, the strange foods, the weird smells, that constant music, and the stares. Just what are you doing in this neighborhood, ese?

But fear not. Every barrio shares a heritage that will make you, borracho moderno, as welcome as a mariachi band: Latinos love their hooch. Drinking to excess is a source of ethnic pride.

Should you find yourself in the barrio—whether MapQuest steered you wrong, you got trunked in a stolen car, or most likely, got lost during a bender—here are some hints that will help you use your binge drinking as an entrada into the circle of your new comprades.

What to Drink
Buy the first round. Forget mojitos and, heaven forbid, margaritas. Keep it simple.
Beer.

Keep it really simple.

Budweiser.

Sure, you’ll see billboards proclaiming the barrio’s love for Corona, Tecate, and Dos Equis, but a twelver of Bud will mark you as a peer of your Latino drinking companions. Namely that, like them, you don’t have money to buy anything better.

Okay, you say, I can drink Bud anywhere. If I’m in the barrio risking a knife wound, I want the good stuff. Bold thinking, pilgrim. After the second round of beers, ask for what the hombres are drinking. If your hosts smoke cigars and speak Spanish really, really fast, then they’re island Hispanics—Puerto Ricans, Cubans, or Dominicans — and their drink is rum. If they drive beater pickups or low-riders, then you’re among Mexicans or Chicanos, which naturally means tequila.

When the bottle makes its appearance, even if it’s two bucks a gallon Colombian aguardiente fermented sugar-cane sludge, treat it with the same awe you felt the first time you saw a woman take off her brassiere.

But unlike those breasts, don’t immediately attack the bottle with your mouth. Ask for shot glasses and offer to make a toast. This will mark you as a vato with class despite the fact that all of you are peeing in the garden because going to the bathroom takes too much time.

Toasting, Chicano Style
Here are some sure-fire toasts that will keep the liquor flowing and allow you to make it out of the barrio without a visit to the trauma center:

Viva Mexico (or Puerto Rico, Cuba, etc.)
Women
The local sports team during a winning season
Women with big chi-chi’s

Learn the Lingo
After a half-dozen rounds, try learning a few phrases in the local tongue from your new drinking mates. Don’t worry too much about your pronunciation—by this time everyone’s speech will be so slurred you could be talking in Martian and no one would notice.

Use this guide of handy words to add the needed salsa to your Spanglish:

abrazo (a-bra-zo) a manly Hemingway-esque hug.

bien pedo (bee-in peh-doe) good and farted.

cagado (ca-ga-doe) shit-in-your-pants drunk.

cuñado (coo-ne-a-doe) brother-in-law. Just like in Anglo culture, he’s either a drinking pal or an asshole.

reggaton (reg-ga-tone) popular Latino music as obnoxious as hip-hop, hence the heavy drinking.

vieja (vee-eh-ha) old lady. Man’s original reason for getting sloshed ever since Eve got us kicked out of the Garden of Eden and we all had to get jobs.

Because as night must follow day, you must also learn this word, the bane of all drinkers:

crudo (crew-doe) raw, a.k.a. hungover.

Where to Drink
Now that you’ve got the lingo and drinking customs down pat, it’s time to visit the cantina. Look for the corner watering hole. Think dive. You’re among undocumented workers, so think Third-World dive. Now crank down your expectations a notch.

Still not sure you’ve found an authentic barrio cantina? Look for these clues: cock fight notices taped to the bar mirror; reggaton blaring from the jukebox; clientele wearing either alligator cowboy boots or ankle monitoring devices. These all mean your hard-earned pesos are welcome there, my thirsty friend. Belly up to the bar and repeat after me: “Una cerveza, por favor.”

Another good place to experience the local drinking culture is the liquor store. Unfortunately, our silly nanny-state drinking laws extend even to the barrio, so you won’t be able to sip a nip inside the store.

No problem. Go around back to the alley and you’ll find plenty of amigos eager to lighten your load and share the camaraderie that only 80 proof among the Dumpsters can bring.

El Ritual Secreto
Still not native enough for you? You’ve heard so much about Hispanic familia and your barrio adventure wouldn’t be complete without at least one drunken abrazo.

Walk around until you find a group of Hispanic men working on a car or truck. Start the conversation by asking for directions. Before they answer, make a comment about the vehicle they’re working on. It doesn’t matter if you can’t tell the difference between a clutch and a bumper. Your interest is a subtle clue that you understand that getting quietly shit-faced is a bond among men that transcends all cultural barriers.

I’ll let you in on a barrio secret. This ritual with the socket wrenches and the toolbox is not about fixing anything. It’s about sneaking away from the viejas, sitting on cinder blocks, and getting cagado in peace. So what if by the time everyone sobers up the damn car still doesn’t run. It belonged to the cuñado.

The Machismo Factor
In the barrio, getting hammered, getting bien pedo, is an act of machismo. In fact, doing anything while loaded is an act of machismo. Here’s a typical story:

Cousin Rudy drank three six-packs of Miller and a quart of tequila, car jacked a Mustang, then had the police chase him for an hour until he crashed into an overpass, burst into flames, and burned to death. He died like a man.

If all goes well during your alcohol-fueled foray into Latino drinking culture, you should greet the morning face-down in a pile of greasy tamale husks, crudo, and not bleeding very much. Now get to your feet and stagger out of the barrio, maybe to where the Ukranians live, and start another ethnic adventure.
Salud.

Noticed the paisas here in King City wearing Dodger hats, least they got the right team gear. Kids are all on vaction so I haven't seen many gangsters the last couple days, saw some SUR 13 tags on the bridge and my white trash neighbor kicks it with some Norteno tweekers, I'm gonna put on my Dodger shirt and go say what's up, god this place sucks!!

Salinas shootings wound four people
Police don't believe incidents are connected
By SUNITA VIJAYAN
The Salinas Californian

A 14-year-old boy and a 23-year-old man were flown to Bay-Area hospitals with bullet wounds Tuesday as street violence in the city surged again.

As first reported at The Californian.com, an unknown assailant shot a pair of teenaged boys at 3:07 p.m. while they were sitting in a car at a stop sign, Salinas Police Cmdr. Kelly McMillin said. While the investigation is in its preliminary stages, McMillin said, officers are treating the crime as gang-related.

"It's too early to confirm that, but that's the way we're approaching the investigation," he said.

About three hours later, a 16-year-old boy was shot in the leg in a gang-related crime on the 1400 block of Garner Avenue, police said, and just before 7 p.m. a man was shot twice while driving at Bardin and Williams roads and flown to a Bay-Area hospital.

Police said they're not certain if the third shooting is gang related.

"All these shootings, however, do not appear to be connected," said Cmdr. Tracy Molfino.

In the day's first shooting, the 18-year-old driver and his 14-year-old passenger were driving west on North Madeira Avenue when they reached the stop sign at St. Edwards Drive, McMillin said.

They told police a man wearing a hooded gray sweatshirt and black pants walked up to the passenger side of their black, older-model Chevrolet Monte Carlo, then fired several rounds at the teens before fleeing on foot, he said.

The 14-year-old was shot twice in the back and the driver received one bullet wound.

None of the injuries appeared life-threatening, McMillin said, although the 14-year-old required flight to a trauma center in San Jose.

Unusual location:
Police cordoned off the intersection of North Madeira Avenue and St. Edwards Drive for several hours Tuesday as officers searched the area for evidence.

Esther Perez, who lives in the neighborhood, said she was walking with her sister and grandniece in nearby Cesar Chavez Park when they heard shots fired and the shattering of glass.

"It's awful," Perez said. "Every day, we go to the park, and we've never heard of anything like this happening here."

The Garner Avenue shooting was committed by one of two teenaged boys riding on a blue BMX bicycle, Molfino said. Gang-related slogans were exchanged, he said, before they jumped off the bike and one fired at least six rounds from a semi-automatic handgun, striking the 16-year-old twice in the leg. The incident is being investigated as a gang-related crime.

Molfino said two "people of interest" have been detained by police.

Twenty minutes later, police said, a 23-year-old man driving a truck was shot once in the back and another time in the leg by a man in a black Honda Civic at Bardin Road and Cross Avenue.

Rally held a week before
Witnesses told police the Honda had at least two people inside when it pulled up to the truck and words were exchanged, Molfino said. A passenger in the Honda then shot at least four rounds at the truck, he said, striking the 23-year-old twice.

The truck's driver was flown to a hospital in the San Francisco Bay Area with non-life-threatening wounds, Molfino said.

In the wake of more than 20 shootings in the past two months, several hundred Alisal High School students and community leaders took part in a peace rally March 27 calling for an end to gang violence.

Later on that day, the city held a town hall meeting focused on community efforts to prevent violence.

On the "QT" for Wallista's only!
"The Sopranos season finale"

I have inside and confirmed info from a reliable source,
(the egg plant parmegiana and pasta fazol preparer on the set), who has told me how the series will end, (and this is a secret cabrones! FYEO),
Mero Jefe Tony Soprano put's Christopher "In the Hat", because his smack habit got too bad, and he started having nightmares and guilt about putting the hit on his ex lover Adriana.

Christopher gets wacked by "Syl" who becomes disillusioned with TOny, who has already alienated Bobby Bacalao, and chased off Paulie and other soldiers.

Paulie signs up with the New York Paisan's and schemes with Phillie to wack Tony, and then become the New Jersey Mero Mero himself.

In the end Tony is cornered and paranoia takes over, he alienates his kids, and Dr Melfi helps him to decide to "roll over", going into the Fed witness protection program.
Tony rats out every one of his old compari's including the New York good fella's.
At seasons end you will find Tony and Carmela living as Mr and Mrs Schmoe in a working class suburb of St. Paul Minn., Tony working as a stonemason (like his grandfather was) and Carmela managing the local "TJ Maxx" discount store.

His neighbors are ex NY jefe "Johnny Sacks", Uncle Junior (who also turns rat), AMelia Erhardt, Ken Lay of Enron, Mundo Mendoza, and Ernie "Chuco" Castro.

Now don't say shit to nobody, this is top secret and for Wallista's only!

Life and times of Homer and Jethro - true log cabin republicans.

In 1985, Jethro began studying the gambling industry. He also noticed that tourists would pay US$5.00 to US$6.00 admission to tour the "Ponderosa Ranch", which was the site location for filming on some episodes of TV's Bonanza. Once inside, all there was to see was a working ranch, but people enjoyed it mostly because of the Bonanza connection. Jethro decided if tourists would pay to see a ranch because of a well-known series, then surely they would gladly pay "nothing" to see something dealing with the series The Beverly Hillbillies, whose TV audience was much larger than that of Bonanza. He came to terms with his "Jethro Bodine" identity and began to see it as a good marketing opportunity toward the gambling and hotel industry. In that direction, Jethro began acquiring the contracts necessary to obtain the rights for marketing his latest idea.

In late 2003, Jethro began developing an empty Wal-Mart building and its property at the south end of Carson City into a Beverly Hillbillies-themed hotel and casino called Jethro's Beverly Hillbillies Mansion & Casino. It has yet to open. Well hell.

former gangster said this
yeah that article from the LAtimes confirms what i realized since i moved to bville, there is some dramatic changes in mexico, not to mention most of the world, i dont
think alot of people realize how closely our economy depends on asia(china) and how much competition we have from the european union, theres alot of things starting to play out right now that its hard to be able to predict with any certainty what our future has in store,
in 20 years some people may remember reading this post and think to themselves god dam that chapin former gangster who hit the nail on the head... again!
anyways my prediction is that china is going to implode under its own size which will in turn send the already precarious US in a downward spiral, once that happens i would expect some serious instability in the whole world, but especially in the
developed world like north america and europe, miraculously unharmed will be the lower rio grande valley region, where basic necesities like food and favorable wheather will always be present
because believe me once it starts hitting the fan all the modern technology we worship will be as useful as a hoe without a shniz,
thats why me personally i dont
really find the point to spending billions on nasa, what the hell is that going to do for us, the usa which the world depends on wont be able to depend on the world for five minutes once they take their southerly turn,
countries in africa and south asia and parts of latin america will be the best off because they dont need all this crap to live like we do, once theirs no electricity our entire civilization as we know it will cease to exist, aside from the fact that if it where left to actual americans to reinvent or at least repair what we have now they wouldnt be able to do it since most scientists and engineers come from other countries,
if you look at countries like india and china most of their politicians have engineering or science degrees, if you look at american politicians most of them have law degrees, and then we still point the finger at saudi arabia because most people there have degrees in islamic studies,
if china doesnt implode the usa probably will anyways,
now that doesnt mean i want this stuff to happen, im just throwing in my two cents like usual, mexico can have alot to gain from the power and economic vacuum if and when the usa topples, they still have alot of engineers in mexico, if you look at history stranger things have happend,
even in highland park once the avenues started getting busted the highland parqueros came up like they never had before, even dogtown placazos can be seen on 43rd and figueroa, i dont remember having seen to many of those back in the 90s, at least not without being crossed out, now they just sit there until they get painted over,
you vatos didnt know how i was goint to tie the barrio,, dam it now im saying it too, tie the varrio thing in here did you,
as far as the illegal immigrants i think my brother had the best take on that, me and my moms where having a discussion about the whole thing and how it seems to be the hot topic now and i saw my carnal who usually doesnt get involved in those kind of conversations and asked him what he thought,
his answer was, "i think they need to deport half of them," after he said that me and my moms where like thats the most brilliant thing we ever heard, because no matter what people say we need them and we dont need them,
they take jobs that could be done by red blooded americans, they mooch off the system, they cause crime, and are generally an eye sore to nice west side blanquitos,
aside from that they circulate an enormous amount of money in our economy, they are avid consumers, meaning they are good for
just about any business imaginable,
they work for cheap, which basically means if it wasnt for them alot of small anglo-american owned businesses as well as any-american business and even mid to large size businesses would go bankrupt over night, i would go as far as to say our economy would collapse without them,
they lay the bricks and mortar, they hammer the nails, they pick the frikin strawberries, they milk the cows, and i dont mean their wives,,lol,
they are basically the last strong hold of the american dream, meaning they are the last people left that still dream of making it here, not like most americans that think the world owes them what they have and more,
they do so many odd jobs that it would be easier to name the jobs they dont do, and contrary to popular belief present day illegal aliens are tomorrows flag waving americans,
i think most people are mad at the fact that they are breaking the law by coming here with no papers, but thats exactly what the frikin pilgrims did, lol,, whos law are they breaking, definitly not the law of supply and demand, we know paisas can eat, drink, and party,
and i know mexico depends heavily on their family in the states sending them money, but i know now alot of that money is getting invested for the long term instead of being used just to buy food and clothes, they are even forming raza in the states has even formed real estate investment trusts
that invest in towns in mexico, usually its an association of people like la hermandad de nuevaleonenses or something and they get all their paisas together here in the states to invest a small amount each and use it to build roads and wells, the raza is really starting to do some amaizing things, but what struck me was that it was the paisas doing it and not the chicanos, of course that really shouldnt be any surprise since i think alot of young chicanos wouldnt be able to find mexico on a map,
alright now i have done everything a good post should do, including pissing some people off, alright peeps much love alrato

Submitted for your approval Wallista's:
Just how much work Charlie Chan actually got done for his employer, the Honolulu Police Department, is open to conjecture, since he was seemingly always on the road-- "in Rio," "in Panama," "at Treasure Island," "in Paris"-- you get the picture..................I ask now, could the great Chan possibly have worked his magic here in Los Angeles against an armada of foes that would have included NLR, PEN1, scofflaw taxi operators with fake city permits, and of course the Mexican Mafia, moguls of organized crime? Brothers, I don't know the answer to that question. One thing however is certain in the Wallace Cleaver household, Chan and the Carnales would have opposed each other not only in fact, but with notable hostility and malignity, adversaries motivated by personal feelings.... I would not have liked to have been in the middle of that one.

PS. Thanks for the heads up DQ. Gentlemen start placing your bets.

Hey former gangster which half should be deported? Maybe we should start by deporting Central Americans, you are aware that Guatemalans lost their political asylum status right?

Chale homie that Texas way of thinking is getting to you. I've stated where I stand on that issue before so I don't want to repeat myself on it. But I will say that something comprehensive has to be done. Deport the fuck ups but give the rest a chance to fix their status.

Their are Mexican families here that don't have their papers but have a son or daughter serving in our Armed Forces. That's one of the reasons that I posted that one story on Sgt. Rafael Peralta. What he did is not surprising, the RAZA was been kicking ass on the battle field since day one. But what was surprising is that the article stated that he got his greencard one day before he joined the Marines. That's what the article said but the fact is that a Mexican who came to this country after that last amnesty can not fix papers. Unless he/she is petitioned for by a husband/wife who is a citizen or if an immediate adult family member petitions for them. Anyways, I said that I wouldn't dwell on this issue so I'll leave here.

I've been checking out some of that YouTube stuff. And it's pretty interesting. I found that one crazy ass riot that kicked off in 2000 at Pelican Bay. Here's the site.

Jim interesting post concerning the great "Charlie Chan", master detective, who used his training in the "Sun Yat Sen school of Oriental Deduction and Mah Jong", to reduce the bad guys to stuttering, trembling, self confessors, before our very eyes.

As to the hypothetical question about how the "inscrutable" Charlie Chan would have fared against the modern day gangster class?
I would guess he would have no problem with the neanderthal "NLR" PEN1" types as his icy and insightful questions would have broken them down very rapidly.

The EME on the other hand would have been more difficult.
Chan's AMericanized and petulant "Number One Son" abandoned detective work and married the daughter of the famous Chinese actress "Lucy May WOng".

He then become active in the "Wong Benevolent Society" in LA's Chinatown, which people in the know realize is a front for "loan sharking" (18% vig compounded monthly). Number One Son became a very successful financier who morphed the "Wong Benevolent Society" into the huge "Eastern Pacific Bank", which caters not only to the Asian community in LA, but also (due to old time connections with the Mexican/American Alpine St.Gang) launders millions of dollars for the Emero's.
Due to this connection between Charlie Chan's offspring and the Mexican Mafia I don't think Chan would have been motivated to press forward in that direction.

To this day, Number One SOn can be found on the 13th of every month playing "Pai Gow" and "Mah Jong" with some nefarious EMe Carnal's at the secret "gambling casino", which is located underneath the "Grand Star" Restraunt on Hill and Alpine St.
By the way, I myself wear the same Panama style hat as Charlie Chan wore, out of respect for the "Master".

Gangs facing tougher tactics in Los Angeles County
Focus will be placed on deported migrants who re-enter the U.S., according to the D.A.

Seeking to close a revolving door of gang members who re-enter the United States illegally after being deported, area officials unveiled two policies Thursday to toughen prosecutions.

District Attorney Steve Cooley said he is assigning three deputy district attorneys to boost efforts by federal prosecutors to target gang members who have been previously deported, then illegally re-enter the U.S.

"This is an initiative I have decided to undertake and encourage because a good chunk of our gang problem in Los Angeles County is committed by individuals who have been previously deported and then re-entered the country," Cooley said.

"We have already drafted a letter to the interim U.S. Attorney's Office suggesting this program. But we are also going to be lobbying for this concept at a higher level of the Justice Department."

Los Angeles City Attorney Rocky Delgadillo also announced a new policy to give the U.S. Attorney's Office the names of documented gang members who are convicted of violating gang injunctions.

The move will allow federal officials to check the residency status of convicted gang members and determine whether they should be deported.

"We believe this new policy will significantly aid our efforts to get convicted criminal gang members off our streets and out of our communities," Delgadillo said. Since taking office in 2001, Delgadillo has increased the number of gang injunctions from eight to 33, covering 50 gangs and more than 61 square miles in the city.

Matt Szabo, spokesman for Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, said the mayor's office supports the policy as part of a 2-month-old citywide gang crackdown.

Gang violence increased 14 percent citywide last year and more than 40 percent in the San Fernando Valley.

"They have moved into the area traditionally occupied by organized crime," Delgadillo said. "They are the new Mafia."

In addition, the county Sheriff's Department has assigned eight custody assistants to interview foreign-born jail inmates to determine if they should be turned over to immigration officials for deportation.

Sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore said more than 20 percent of the county's jail population -- or about 4,000 inmates -- are illegal immigrants.

But even as officials hailed the new policies, some said a number of details still need to be worked out, such as overcrowded jails and whether federal deportation centers will be able to cope with additional inmates.

"That's part of the complexity of designing a program like this," said Richard Doyle, director of the District Attorney's Office Bureau of Specialized Prosecutions.

"It's far from a done deal. It's something we are trying to figure out: Is this a good use of resources and is it possible?" Virginia Kice, spokeswoman for U.S. Immigration & Customs Enforcement, said the agency has access to about 30,000 detention beds nationally.

"We won't allow violent criminal aliens to be put back on the streets," she said. "We'll find a place to put them." But Kice acknowledged caseloads were high.

"In some instances we might be able to deport a person the day we take custody of them," she said. "But there may be cases where immigration proceedings extend for months or years."

Wally, your "homeboy Rudy" rattles some with Vito Corleone's voice...

"Thank youse all very much for invitin' me here tuh-day, to this meeting of the families from different parts'a California," Giuliani said, recycling his old New York gag to laughter and scattered applause.

COLUMBIA, S.C. -- Rudolph Giuliani launched into a California campaign speech recently with an opening line the crowd surely didn't expect -- his husky-voiced impersonation of Don Corleone in "The Godfather."

Then this week, Giuliani used the reference again, invoking the mob's code of honor to explain why reporters should lay off his wife. "I am a candidate. She's a civilian, to use the old Mafia distinction," he said.

Other Italian-American politicians have shunned references to organized crime, fearful of being tarred unfairly by anti-Italian stereotyping. Not Giuliani, who has in the past embraced such talk to remind voters he helped bust up the New York mob as a federal prosecutor. Plus, he's an unabashed "Godfather" fan.

Street gangs in America are not a product of Mexican immigrants. So, to focus on illegal immigration as a primary tactic to end American street gangs would be like getting attacked by a terrorist organization, and in turn attacking a country that had nothing to do with it. Between law enforcement and national defense, the powers that be in this country are looking more and more like the Three Stooges.

I was watching OC-16 the other day (our local "variety channel") and saw a cool piece on Charlie Chan. He's a bit of a cult hero over here in Hawaii and was inspired by a guy named Chang Apana, who worked as a detective for the Honlulu police department back at the turn of the century.

Chang was something of a character: fluent in many languages, shrewd to the core, and loved to fist fight. He never carried a gun, and opted for a bull-whip instead. In fact it's said that Speilberg copied Chang Apana when he was creating Indiana Jones' look: Chang was known to have the whip coiled at his side, where a Panama hat, and stroll around with a half-chewed cigar hanging out of his mouth. This guy was rough and tumble!

Hell's Angels at Altamont, December 6, 1969

On December 6, 1969 the Rolling Stones organized - if that's the right word - and headlined the free Altamont Music Festival at the Altamont speedway in northern California. This was a few months after Woodstock, and there was a general idea that the Stones would have their own Woodstock. It had been scheduled to happen at the Golden Gate Park, but San Francisco officials revoked their permission (if they even had proper paperwork to begin with) at the last minute when Mick Jagger publicly announced that the Stones would be there out of crowd control concerns. It was then supposed to be going to Sears Point Raceway, but that fell through as well. The Altamont venue was finally settled on as late as December 4.

Surprisingly enough, 400,000 rock fans showing up at a place selected within the last 48 hours turned out badly. Four people managed to wind up dead. A couple of people got killed in an auto accident amidst the chaos, and one person managed to drown in a drainage ditch. The famous death, of course, was Meredith Hunter who was stabbed multiple times and kicked to death on film right in front of the stage by Hell's Angels during the Rolling Stones set.

This is just the kind of thing that BEGS for pontification, asserting Big Profound Meaning and so forth. It was the anti-Woodstock, and the dark side of the hippie culture, the death of the 60s, etc. Among other things, the event was immortalized in Don McLean's famous "American Pie" wherein the Satanic Jack Flash was lustfully presiding over the "sacrificial rite." It was the climactic destruction and sweeping away of Buddy Holly's rock and roll "true love ways." It was the final day when the music really, really died.

Obviously, a lot of this stuff is being loaded onto happenstance, which leads to people twisting the actual random chaos of the event to fit their mythologies. For example, it has sometimes been claimed that Hunter was killed while the Stones were playing "Sympathy for the Devil." Obviously that would be perfect mythology, with the whole Satanic "sacrificial rite" angle. In fact, they had finished that song, and were specifically playing "Under My Thumb" at the critical moment- which to me is a more interesting sentiment to be playing out for that event.

Fortuitously, the Rolling Stones had a camera crew filming their tour for a movie, which was eventually released under the title Gimme Shelter. It was directed by David and Albert Maysles. Among several others, young George Lucas was working as a cameraman. A piece of video isn't the same as being there, and you also have to consider all the stuff that was going on that did NOT end up on film. Still, the camera doesn't lie, and it captured a lot of fascinating things going on amongst this third of a million people.

Studying the film, capturing still images and trying to figure out how to edit and present and explain them strongly reaffirms the sense of Dionysian chaos all around that day. For starters, I've rooted out 90 images from that day examining the specific involvement of the Hell's Angels. It can't tell the whole story, but it does give a lot of information from which we can glean some idea of what they were really doing.

Ultimately, the main culprits really have to be the Rolling Stones on grounds of hubris for insisting on going through with this show on less than 48 hours notice in even booking the venue. Famously, they were rumored to have hired the Hell's Angels as security for $500 worth of beer- though both sides subsequently denied it. However, the Grateful Dead had used Hell's Angels for security in the past without incident. Also, the Stones themselves had used the British arm of the Hell's Angels for an "honor guard" earlier that year among hundreds of thousands of fans at their Hyde Park memorial show for Brian Jones without incident..

Still, a handful of bikers providing the main security for several hundred thousand people was dumb. I'd also have to lay some fault on local government. Again, I'm sure that the camera didn't get everything, but from the looks of it there might have been as many as half a dozen cops among that many people. The most I saw was exactly TWO cops on stage after the Hunter killing. I'm not that big on cops, but that was just nuts.

Some of the stuff with the Hell's Angels was probably just them being thuggish because they could. Notably, they bum rushed the stage during the Jefferson Airplane's set, knocking Marty Balin out cold. (Unfortunately, the camera crews got no good footage of that moment.) Obviously he was not creating a security disturbance by playing his set.

Then when a band member said something about it from the stage, an Angel jumped up and seized the mic to tell them what time it was. That was just plain foolishness from the Angels there. In fairness though, who hasn't wanted to jump up on stage with a pool cue and knock out some long-haired pinko singing about peace and love when there's commies needing killed? (I apologize for political editorial.)

Anyway, the Angels were in a tough position, and a lot of their behavior might be written off to legitimate fear. They were in WAY over their heads even just trying to protect the stage- which was only maybe three or four feet high, and thus easily accessible to any crazed fan wanting to jump up- which of course they did. On top of which, there were maybe a couple or few dozen Angels amongst perhaps as many as 400,000 mostly heavily drugged concert goers. Of course, their own heavy imbibement wasn't helping that much.

Still, you might have a little empathy for this handful of bikers trying to maintain some semblance of control over these enthusiastic fans, some of whom were fighting amongst themselves or just freaking out. Note the freak out boy on the stage two steps from Jagger a minute or so before the Hunter incident. Imagine yourself in the position of a Hell's Angel faced with a few hundred people looking like this.
In the face of this chaos and these numbers, it's somewhat understandable that the Angels' natural reaction was to bust heads and make an example of anybody close who as much as looked at them funny. Basic physical intimidation would be an obvious blunt point in what they would think of to keep the trippin' freaks from completely losing control.

Hey, fear of the Hell's Angels may well have been the thin line that kept the hippies from just stampeding and accidentally killing the Stones themselves. Looking at that crowd, it could easily enough have played out that way. Not even by evil intent, what if a couple thousand of these kids who had thrown off all those crazy societal rules had decided that they had to touch the hem of Mick's garment like Jebus?

Furthermore, there's a distinct sense that the Stones themselves had just such thoughts as they stood there helpless. You could readily see all pretensions to messianic or Satanic status evaporate as Mick desperately struggled to avoid something really bad happening to him standing right then and there. For being the master thespian and author of all evil- the devil incarnate - Mick Jagger really looked like a mere prancing little fairy boy by the end of this. Note his incredibly lame interactions with the audience...
Also, the Hell's Angels were pretty heavy-handed, but they were not just completely going nuts. For starters, they came riding their motorcycles right through the crowd to park under the stage- but even with that kind of display, the Angels weren't carrying guns. Their tool of choice was the sawed-off pool cue. That's perhaps got a more intimidating idea behind it, but it's basically equivalent to a cop carrying a nightstick. Depending on training and use, that would not be an entirely unreasonable tool for major crowd control.

Some of that thuggish Hell's Angels behavior earlier in the day during the Jefferson Airplane set might have been considered largely gratuitous. They seemed to be knocking people around to some extent just because they could. Even at that though, one could not entirely unreasonably judge it a public service to give a deserving dirty hippie a good beat down. (Sorry- I was channeling Cartman again there for a minute.)

By the time the Stones hit the stage that night though, the Angels were pretty clearly in a combat survival mode. Looking at the footage, they seemed quite anxious simply to avoid some kind of serious massacre, which this many heavily doped up people could easily have done even just accidentally. They've got an easily accessible three foot or so high stage. What would have stopped them?

Specifically though, the famous climactic killing of Meredith Hunter was absolutely clean as regards the Hell's Angels. There are witnesses claiming that Hunter pulled out a gun, and took a shot in the direction of the stage, supposedly grazing an Angel. I don't know about all of that, but here's the money shot of the whole film where you can unmistakably see Meredith Hunter with a gun in his hand.
So this fool kid absolutely pulled out a gun in the middle of hundreds of thousands of people, maybe 20 yards from the Stones on stage, and with a bunch of Hell's Angels standing there. Folks, Meredith Hunter committed suicide. Crazy sumbitch whips out a gun in a crowd like that, they're asking to be terminated with extreme prejudice. The Hell's Angels were simply obliging him.
Specifically, from the film Hell's Angel Alan Passaro is seen bringing down the knife. He was stabbed repeatedly and stomped to death immediately. He was long dead when paramedics got there. Three years later in 1972, Passaro eventually faced a murder charge, but was acquitted by a jury. I'd figure they'd have to have acquitted just on the basis of the picture of Hunter with the gun in his hand alone, besides any other testimony.

Naturally there was a great deal of controversy after the event regarding the role of the film crew. How much of this chaos came from them doing this whole event as a climax for their movie? The correct answer there seems to be NONE. Watching the whole movie of the tour up to and including the Altamont concert, there's no sign of anything being particularly staged for the camera crews. They had no special access to the Stones personally at any time in the tour, and no sign that I could see of getting any accommodation at all.

They had a handful of guys running around with cameras grabbing what they could. As I understand and find fairly easy to believe, they got some of the footage of the Hell's Angels knocking people around actually somewhat surreptitiously. Now, this part is not on film, but from later accounts of the film crew. Apparently though, as trouble started at a couple of points Angels demanded that they not film this part, and the cameraman left the camera running from his shoulder pack as he's physically looking away. That this worked - repeatedly - does not speak well for the high brain power of the Angels.

One thing that struck me a bit sour regarding the finished movie though - and this reflects particularly on the Rolling Stones who financed it, they went through the whole movie without ever even so much as mentioning the name Meredith Hunter or the name of the guy who stabbed him on film, Alan Passaro. They totally, absolutely gave not one bit of detail about the events other than the immediate footage, maybe thirty seconds with some kind of EMT on scene and Mick Jigger's limp reaction to watching the footage again in the editing room. "Oh, it's so horrible."

That's pretty much de-humanizing them, making Hunter not quite human- just a grainy image from a surveillance video. Seems like they'd have spent a minute or so explaining who the guy was and a few details of exactly what happened. That strikes me as an attempt to keep the incident at arms length, not really quite real people.

You can't fault the Angels for killing a guy with a gun in his hand. Still, these Angels on stage a couple of minutes after seem rather unseemly in their giddy high from the blood sacrifice. Jumping' Jehosaphat, from those looks of ecstasy on their faces, you'd think they were getting ready to look for someplace private where they could hump one another in celebration. As the Satanic woodland critters on South Park said, "Blood orgy, blood orgy!"

Naturally, after the event there was all sorts of finger pointing. There was a famous call in show on radio KSAN the next day in which Sonny Barger told what might be considered the official Hell's Angels version of the story. He claimed that the Angels were never told they were supposed to be security. They were just going to get to drink beer and sit on the stage. That claim doesn't quite make sense to me- which isn't to say it wasn't true. He also claimed that Mick Jagger among others was twisting things to set the Hell's Angels up as the goats. I find that fairly easy to believe. They would certainly be the obvious unsympathetic characters to scapegoat.

Probably the best overall perspective on the situation came from Grace Slick on stage with the Jefferson Airplane just a couple of minutes after the Angels had knocked out her bandmate. "People get weird, and you need people like the Angels to keep people in line. But the Angels also- you know, you don't bust people in the head for nothing. So both sides are fucking up temporarily. Let's not keep fucking up."

LOTS AND LOTS OF PHOTOS.

An angel got shot that day from one of this tinto's stray shots from that big revolver he hoisted. The brother's wound was minor and being as how he was a wanted fugitive at the time his med attention was dealt on the q.t...
Here's a funny excerpt from Sonny Barger's book, "Hells Angel" from that day at Altamont.. (Remember that the Stones took the stage two hrs late, intentionally working the crowd to a frenzy)
Barger writes:
"Now that the situation was totally spun out of control, the Stones were talking a lot of "brother and sister" type of hippie shit. Everybody who rushed the stage was thrown off. A big fat girl was trying to get onstage. she was topless and probably very fucked up on drugs. Some of the angels tried to stop her, and it looked like they were trying to get her off the stage without hurting her. Keith Richards of the Stones leaned over to me and said, "Man I'm sure it does'nt take three or four great big Hell's Angels to get that bird off the stage".. I just walked over to the edge of the stage and kicked her in the head. "How's that?"
Richards walked over to me after finishing "Love in Vain" and told me the band was'nt going to play anymore until we stopped the violence. "Either these cats cool it man, or we do'nt play", he announced to the crowd. I stood next to him and stuck my pistol in his side and told him to start playing his guitar or he was dead.. He played like a motherfucker.."

Those were the days...or not..

To those who are predicting doom for the City Of Angeles, I will paint you a different scenario. We just need to take a quick glance at few of the current construction projects in downtown Los Angeles area.

1) A new commercial and entertainment center in front of the Staples Center.
2) A new commercial and condominium project on the corner of Figueroa and Olympic.
3) New condominium projects south of Olympic on Flower street.
4) New condominium projects south of Olympic on Hope street.
5) New condominium projects south of Olympic on Grand Avenue.
6) The renovation and conversion to condominiums on Broadway street, many more waiting for building permits. You can not build all at once on the same street.
7) The renovation and conversion to condominium on Los Angeles street.
8) The construction of new expensive apartment building on Third street by the 110fwy.
9) The construction of new expensive apartment building on Sunset and Figueroa.
10) The construction of new expensive apartment building on 2nd and Glendale road.

This is just a quick short list from a drive around downtown Los Angles. And the mortgage and rents are expensive. So you poor ghetto people with kids in gangs will have to move out very soon.

The gentrification (anti-ghetto and anti-gang) of the downtown Los Angeles is now under way. So what the police and social programs have not done, a few billionaire developers will do a few more years.

///Street gangs in America are not a product of Mexican immigrants///

U.S. Street gangs have evolved in the 21st Century to the point that illegal immigrants do in fact make up an evergrowing segment of the street gang population. Some midwest cities ONLY have major problems with the evergrowing menace of illegal immigrant street gangs and the illegal drugs they bring across the border with them!

///So, to focus on illegal immigration as a primary tactic to end American street gangs would be like getting attacked by a terrorist organization, and in turn attacking a country that had nothing to do with it///

Your assessment is a good one. Too many in law enforcement do lock up and deport large numbers of illegals, then conduct a press conference to claim successes on the "War on Street Gangs". The street gang problem continues to grow in spite of illegal immigration!

///Between law enforcement and national defense, the powers that be in this country are looking more and more like the Three Stooges///

Your intelligent suggestions on HOW to conduct this war are always welcomed. Your continued sarcastic attacks on law enforcement are probably adolescent. Concerned people can discuss and reason whereas folks with agendas are transparent, whether they be cops or bleeding heart liberals.

L.A. pro-immigrant march draws thousands
Activists call for eased hurdles toward citizenship and an end to 'racist' raids.
By Rong-Gong Lin II, Times Staff Writer
1:10 PM PDT, April 7, 2007

Police estimated that as many as ten thousand people, many wearing red to signify hope, marched peacefully through downtown Los Angeles this afternoon calling for the humane treatment of illegal immigrants.

The crowd gathered at 1:30 in front of City Hall following a march from Olympic and Broadway. Streets were blocked throughout downtown.

Organizers said the marchers were calling for a pathway to citizenship for illegal immigrants; an expedited and less expensive naturalization process; education for all; and a stop to "racist" immigrant raids throughout the United States.

"Today's rally is really a response to all those who have been criticizing the immigrant rights movement and declared it dead," said Juan Jose Gutierrez, a coordinator with Latino Movement USA. "Most people are hard-working, taxpaying individuals," he said. "We need to stop polarizing."

Prison Gangs The fight for survival within the United State’s prison system has created a subculture the breeds racism, hate, and violence. About two and a half years ago, a young man named William King was sentenced to death by lethal injection for his participation in the murder of James Byrd Jr. James, a middle aged black man from Jasper County, Texas, was bound at the ankles and dragged behind a truck for three miles. His body was ripped to shreds as a gruesome display of the effects of prison subculture. What caused William King and his partners Shawn Berry and Lawrence Brewer to commit such a horrific crime? Was their behavior a result of innate nature or was it learned? Many agree that it was the time spent in prison that caused William King to brutally murder James Byrd Jr. Friends and family claim that William was a pleasant and quiet boy before he left for prison to serve a couple years for burglary. When he was released, his personality seemed irrational and violent and he was covered in racist tattoos. Friends say he frequently spoke about white supremacy and was anxious to develop his own splinter white supremacist gang. King’s defense attorney explained that it was the high rate of violence in Texas’s Beto 1 Unit that caused William to turn toward gang activity as a means of protection and security. Racist attitudes develop from poor treatment from other inmates and a need to strengthen a common bond among gang members. William, the defense attorney argued, was merely a victim of the depleting prison system in this country (). The reality of prison gangs cannot be ignored. Victor Hassine wrote a book entitles Life Without Parole, in which he describes the horrific reality of life behind bars. He writes, Once inside, I was walked through a quantlet of desperate men. Their hot smell in the muggy corridor was as foul as their appearance. None of them seemed to have a full set of front teeth. Many bore prominently displayed tattoos of skulls or demons. One could argue whether it was the look of these men that led them to prison or whether it was the prison that gave them their look. Just looking at them made me fear my life (Hassine, 7). While the actions of William King cannot be excused or rationalized, his story sheds insight on the problems that face our correctional facilities. Prison gangs are everywhere, and effect every inmate. When a new convict is admitted he is viewed as fresh meat among the prison gang members and victimized to no end. Prison gangs are a convicts means of survival in an environment so starved of morals that violence, rap, and murder are just a daily reality. While it is impossible to know the impact of prison gangs on our street, experts dispute over the control and communication between street and prison gangs. Some argue that there is little connection between street and prison gangs and that operations of prison gangs remain behind prison walls. Drug trafficking does exist within prisons; it is usually made possible through inmate’s friends and/or girlfriends (Huff 248). Still others feel quite different, and see prison gang control reach far beyond an inmates cell. Some speculate that a large percentage of drug dealing in East Los Angeles is controlled from within prison walls by the Mexican Mafia. Joe ‘Pegleg” Morgan was in prison for forty years, beginning with a conviction of murder at the age sixteen. He manage to gain so much power and control of drug trafficking, street crimes, violence and money laundering that he rose to serve as the Mexican Mafia’s Godfather in the later half of his life (Barker, 311). Prison gangs tend to display a distinct hierarchical structure. A single inmate who best embodies the gang’s value (Territo, 580) assumes the role of the leader. A leader time in control is normally short, partially due to the prison system’s ability to relocate inmates. It is usually the strongest remaining gang member that assumes leadership or the gang’s elite counsels a decision. A member’s degree of influence flows down a criterion of ranks, with the recruits having no say in any aspect of the gang’s direction and function. Gaining higher position in the ranks usually involve violent acts against opposing gang members. Each member takes an oath to maintain loyalty and obedience to the gang; any signs of defiance or inability to represent gang ideals would lead to violent confrontation. One of the ways Arizona has attempted to discourage the maintenance of prison gangs is by deporting gang leaders to other facilities across the country where hey might find themselves in the racial minority (). Because most inmates have tendency to join gangs inside prison due to over exposure and the need for protection, it is important to figure out ways to combat the violence these gangs encourage. By inmate deportation, the department can ensure that the inmate will be hard-pressed to find new racial alliances. For example, the state may place an Aryan Brotherhood leader in a facility heavily populated with black inmates. Unfortunately, gangs tend to be regenerating in nature. There is always someone ‘next in line,’ and by deporting a leader, the prison may only increase the gang’s anger toward the system, encouraging further violence. Many other attempts have been made to curb gang violence in prison. Twenty-three hour lock down, and further segregating measures have all been applied, but somehow prison gangs remain more prevalent and visible than ever (). While there are many splinter gangs and offshoots, officials are aware of about six major prison gangs within the country: Neta, Mexican Mafia, La Nuestra Familia, Texas Syndicate, Aryan Brotherhood, and Black Guerrilla Family. Each one of these gangs has historical significance concerning the sociological implications of society. The two states that experience the brunt of prison gang activity are Texas and California. Most of these gangs are divided along strict racial lines causing a severe degree of racism among inmates. Convicts like William King, are good examples of the hatred within prison walls. Mexican-American inmates are said to be at a disadvantage making the formation of gangs essential. First off, they are faced with a language barrier, and the inability to verbally communicate with other inmates often causes disputes leading to violence. Cultural differences are also a concern. Mexican culture depends on the “consistent presence of family members… For Mexican Americans it is important to see relatives regularly face-to-face, to embrace, to touch, and to simply be with one another, sharing minor joys and sorrows of daily life” (Keefe 68). Finding themselves in the increasingly alienating American society, with no real formal terms of communication, the need to develop gangs becomes more predominate. Gangs replace the extended family so treasured in Mexican society as a way to emulating cultural values from their home country. The gang Neta is a Puerto-Rican American/Hispanic gang. This group was established in 1970 in Rio Pedras Prison as a means to stop violence between inmates. Neta generally has strong ties with street gangs. They show strong patriotism believing in “independence for the Island.” Members are expected produce at least twenty perspective recruits and observe the come together in observance of the fallen members on the thirtieth of each month. Their identifying marks usually consist of red, white, and blue (sometimes black is substituted) ink tattoos of two Puerto Rican flags piercing a heart or the letter ‘N.’ Some members wear colored beads to identify gang affiliation and rank, and others carry identification cards. Neta’s most threatening rivals are the Latin Kings and Los Solidos. Neta tends to be successful at keeping a low profile, which makes them successful at drug trade, extortion, and ‘hits’ on other types of violence. The Mexican Mafia is one of the dominant Mexican-American/Hispanic gangs. It got its foundation from a urban Los Angeles street gang, and developed into a major prison gang in a youthful offender program in California during the late nineteen fifties. One of the gang’s primary goals is maintaining consistent drug traffic both in and out of prison. The Mexican Mafia uses the Mexican flag symbol of an eagle with a snake, the initial “EME,” or a single hand print, usually black in color, as their identifying marks. Their most predominate enemies are Black Guerrilla Family, Arizona’s New Mexican Mafia, and, most of all, La Nuestra Familia. The Mexican Mafia has allied itself with gangs like Arizona’s Old Mexican Mafia, Mexikanemi, and New Mexico Syndicate. By way of street gangs, the Mexican Mafia tends to have more influence and connection than any other prison gang does. The members are arrested at more frequent rate than members of other Mexican gangs (Barker, 310). The power of the Mexican Mafia extends deep into the streets of California by way of drug peddling and violent acts. The wives and girlfriends of Mexican Mafia gang members are held in high esteem amongst other member; they are a part of the family as well. The Mexican Mafia coined the term “Blood in, Blood out” which refers to the gangs policy concerning gang loyalty. ‘Blood in’ relates to the blood spilled during initiation, while ‘blood out’ alludes to the consequences of trying to depart from the gang. Concerned with drug trafficking, extortion, pressure rackets, and internal discipline, the Mexican Mafia has been a long-time powerhouse amongst prison gangs. Another Mexican-American/Hispanic gang that sprung up in California during the middle of the century was La Nuestra Familia. This gang was originally formed for protection purposes against the Mexican Mafia because cultural and social difference had created hatred between these two gangs. La Nuestra Familia has different organizations for prison and street segments. Members typically wear red rages and have initials like ‘NF,’ ‘LNF,’ ‘ENE,’ and ‘F’ tattooed in various places on their bodies. Another common symbol among member’s tattoos is a sombrero with a dagger. Their most outstanding rivals were Texas Syndicate, Mexikanemi, and Aryan Brotherhood, while they maintained working relations with the Black Guerrilla Family. They focused on similar means of productivity, such as drug trafficking and extortion, as did most prison gangs. The Texas Syndicate came out of the Folsom prison in California during the early nineteen seventies. Its members were Mexican-American/Hispanic males who joined as a direct response to the growing reality of violence and rape by other prison gang’s member. The tattoos that were generally located on the back of the right forearm, were intricate designs that somewhere adopted the initials ‘TS.’ An interesting characteristic of the Texas Syndicate which displays the existence of hierarchical organization, are the terms used by gang member’s to describe themselves, groups, and recruits. The term ‘Carnal’ refers to any gang member, and the term ‘carnales’ represents a group of members. They use the term ‘cardinal’ in reference to the recruits, and ‘chairman’ in reference to the leader. Their enemies are the Aryan Brotherhood, La Nuestra Familia, Mexican Mafia, Mexikanemi, and Mandingo Warriors. The Texas Syndicate had the tendency to fall in disfavor, whether by choice or action, with most of the other prison gangs. With no real allies, Texas Syndicate has developed relations with the Texas Mafia and Dirty White Boys. The members carry with them a growing Hispanic and Latino supremacy ideology and have said to be recruiting at a desperate rate. The need to fight back against to reality of prison violence is evident in the origin of most prison gangs, and the development of white prison gangs is a classic example. Being so racially outnumbered in an unfamiliar subculture, white inmates also had to create a protection network. The William King closely relates to this concept, as his attitude toward race as radically changed from the time he went in to the time he was released. With rape and abuse common inside prisons, the means fight back is essential if one was to avoid being bought and sold to various gang member as a ‘bitch.’ Under such circumstances, staying neutral or claiming nothing makes an inmate a prime victim for gang members. Unfortunately, joining a gang harbors racism and hate that manifests itself violently. The Aryan Brotherhood is a very well known prison gang consisting of white males. This gang first made it appearance in California in 1967. Members are known to be covered in identifying symbols such as swastikas, shamrocks, double lightening bolts, the initials ‘AB,’ and other neo-nazi symbols. They often use Gaelic symbols as a way of coding communication. The Aryan Brotherhood has a fine working relationship with the Mexican Mafia. Although racial hate runs rampant, the Aryan Brotherhood utilizes black associates to sell drugs to the black prison population, along with lending moral support to black groups that may cause prison disruption. The Aryan Brotherhood’s enemies are the Crips, Bloods, El Rukns, and Black Guerrilla Family. Members engage in all sorts of prison activities such as contraband, distribution of drug, and breaking facility rules. They are a violent gang. Between the years of 1975 to 1985, Aryan Brotherhood members committed forty homicides within the California prisons and local jails, along with thirteen homicides in the community. And between 1978 to 1992, member were involved in twenty-six homicides within the federal system, three of which had staff members as victims. Once out of prison, Aryan Brotherhood members are expect to ‘score’ for the members in prison. Maybe William King was ‘scoring’ for some member remaining in jail. The Black Guerrilla Family is the only major black prison gang. A former Black Panther member founded this gang in 1967 at the San Quentin Sate Prison in California. The Black Guerrilla Family is by far the most politically oriented of the major prison gangs, formed to eradicate racism, maintain dignity, and overthrow the United States government. Stricter than any other gang, the Black Guerrilla Family was a death oath, requiring all members to make a sincere life-long pledge. Should this pledge by broken, the member would be killed. Their most typical symbol is a black dragon overtaking a prison tower. They also tattooed the initials ‘BGF’ and crossed sabers and shotgun as a sign of allegiance. Their enemies consist of the Aryan Brotherhood, Texas Syndicate, and Mexican Mafia. The Black Guerrilla Family uses many of the black street gangs and other allies include the Black Liberation Army, Symbionese Liberation Army, Weather Underground, and numerous black street gangs. Probably the biggest difference between the Black Guerrilla Family and the other prison gangs, is their dedication to a cause. With other gangs are concerned with power, luxury, and respect while in prison, the Black Guerrilla Family has a larger mentality. Their anti-government and anti-official beliefs cause a deeper, more serious threat to correction facility and law enforcement personnel. Each gang listed above had certain symbols and initials that were tattooed on their body to show allegiance to their gang. Prison gang tattoos are very important within the prison subculture. During the William King investigation, King’s tattoos were brought in as piece if evidence concerning the defendant’s radical racial views. King’s defense attorney tried to convince the jury that the tattoos were merely protection devices during King’s stay in prison. William’s numerous tattoos included, a black man hanging from a tree, all of which King acquired in prison. These tattoos not only reflect the racist attitude King acquired in prison, but they also reveal the gangs values and ideals. Inmates display their tattoos fearlessly. They are a sense of empowerment and a means by which to brag. A tattoo tells someone three distinctive things bout the inmate: who they are, what they’ve done, and where they’ve been. Many times the inmate will have his nickname or street name tattooed somewhere on his body. Tattooing the name of a loved one is not uncommon either. Also, symbols like swastikas and other racial markings help to give insight on that inmates belief system. These can help to decipher who the inmate is. What the inmate has done can be seen in the different weapons and the directions in which they point. For example, should the inmate have killed someone with a specific weapon, there may be a tattoo of his weapon pointed outward. A teardrop located under the eye used to be a strong implication of a murder committed, now it typically speaks of family or gang members that had died during the time the convict had spent in prison (Lichtenstien). Where the inmate has been can be determined from specific landmarks tattooed on his body. Specific gun towers or cell doors may be tattooed to indicate the different prisons that inmate has stayed in. Some convicts get tattoos of specific areas of their 'home turf' revealing a pride toward his culture and community. Tattoos can be done in prison two different ways. The first is the free hand method in which the inmate gets ink and a needle and uses the original Polynesian weapon. These tattoos tend to illegible and sloppy. If the inmate can acquire the right supplies, he can also get a tattoo through the use of a homemade machine. This consists of a simple motor, a hollowed out ball point pen, guitar string, and a battery. Which basically can be constructed in such a way as to create a pivoting pen head that needs to be continually dipped in ink. This method is more precise and generally creates a better product. Getting caught with a tattoo gun, our in the act of getting a tattoo results in a major disciplinary response. The convict will loose privileges, be moved to a more restrictive wing, and sometimes face a disciplinary hearing. Due to the popular demand of tattoos, these rules do little to discourage the inmates from getting more tattoos. Within the prison subculture, a good tattoo artist is held in high regard.

...Stella is the kind of broad that grows on a guy.

I’ve known her ever since we were little kids, but in the early days I didn’t pay much attention to girls, and later I had more fun gunning for the girls in nearby towns. I had always liked Stella, sure; but it was only recently that I really took notice and fell in love with her. That was easy. It took no talent to admire that frame, melt under those soft blue eyes and bask in that smile of hers. Man, I mean she is just the loveliest doll who ever gave a guy the Irish toothache. That Stella!

Wallista Tribune seems to be referring to a report which I would like to respond to in part.

(Some argue that there is little connection between street and prison gangs and that operations of prison gangs remain behind prison walls)

Whoever would question the connection between street and prison gangs hasn’t a clue of what has been going on for well over 30 years! I suppose some people in
this world would argue that the sky was red and we have all been observing the world through an optic filter!

(One of the ways Arizona has attempted to discourage the maintenance of prison gangs is by deporting gang leaders to other facilities across the country where hey might find themselves in the racial minority)

The notion that prison gang members would be deterred by “finding themselves in the racial minority” is not reality. At least not with the big prison gangs such as the EME, AB or BGF. In fact, the last thing the prison authorities would want to do is “deport” (transfer) a prison gang leader to another state. This would be a fruitful recruiting ground! If this theory is taken seriously by any prison administrator, I can tell you for a fact that this move would boomerang in a hurry.

(There is always someone ‘next in line,’ and by deporting a leader, the prison may only increase the gang’s anger toward the system, encouraging further violence)

To the contrary, a prison gang leader would be overjoyed to be “deported” to an out-of-state prison with no “anger toward the system”, but instead profound gratitude! The violence referred to here would not be in "anger toward the system" but because they were given the prime opportunity to thrive, multiply and wreak havoc in their facility.

(Mexican-American inmates are said to be at a disadvantage making the formation of gangs essential. First off, they are faced with a language barrier, and the inability to verbally communicate with other inmates often causes disputes leading to violence)

The idea that Mexican-American inmates are “faced with a language barrier” is nonsensical. And, to further suggest that this “inability to communicate with other inmates often causes disputes leading to violence” compounds this false premise. A Mexican-American, first and foremost, is an English-speaking American who is of Mexican descent. His FIRST language is English! A misnomer that ignorant people throughout the U.S. either can’t (or won’t) get a handle on is that Hispanic prison gangs like the Mexican Mafia and La Nuestra Familia are predominately comprised of Mexican-Americans, not Mexican nationals. There is no language barrier to overcome as these California “state raised” convicts speak very fluent and coherent English. If you listen to interviews conducted (or wiretaps) with Mike Ison, Joe Morgan, Ramon “Mundo” Mendoza, Rene “Boxer” Enriquez and countless others, you begin to understand that many of these guys do not speak in one-syllable words nor in a foreign tongue. They are extremely articulate in our native tongue!

(The Mexican Mafia coined the term “Blood in, Blood out” which refers to the gangs policy concerning gang loyalty. ‘Blood in’ relates to the blood spilled during initiation, while ‘blood out’ alludes to the consequences of trying to depart from the gang.)

Half correct. The Mexican Mafia coined no such term. Blood spilling prior or during initiation is not a requirement and never has been. Many EME members have been recruited despite the fact that they had never killed anyone prior to joining. In fact, one quick example that comes to mind is Thomas “Elmo” Duran. He never killed anyone as a street gang member, nor during his three (3) short years as a carnal. He was executed by his carnales at Folsom Prison in 1973 because he had had opportunities to perform “hit” assignments and had balked at each one. Of course, “Blood Out” certainly means that the only way out of the prison gang is to be executed.

Peace ……… Have a Happy Easter

I came across this list (partial, with daily occurences not updated) and had a question to my brothers in L.A., if anyone can shed some light as to how the dudes from Mexican Klan 13 can keep finding ways to get killed. Do these dudes just hang out on the corner, slippin' all day? If you scroll down, you will no doubt notice the number of Mexican Klan 13 and CVT-Flats victims listed (along with 8-trays, who no doubt have the highest number of vics listed). I am hoping this will make it past Wally's recycle bin and on to the main stage. I am also wondering about Mexican Klan 13. For alot of vics they must have stepped on some toes. As well, I know quite a few homeboys who work here at the shipyard in my nieghborhood (Logan) from Los (Young Crowd and 18st), so I approach them time to time, but not one of them has heard of Poserz 13 (LAX). I am hoping my comrades OC, Gava, Don, Hollenbeck and SV VBS (all of whom provide great insight and feedback) can shed some light. Most of you know I only post on blue moon occasions, since my backyard is a little further south, but Googling Mexican Klan 13 proved fruitless. Gracias. -Jose619

Thanks for the input, T.J., and Pascua Feliz to you..Our retired jailer refered to tapes of wiretaps from Joe Morgan, Mike Ison, etc.It would be great to get some heads up as to where one could access those files.. I've read Mundo's book and listened to interviews. He's certainly no novice with the English language. Also I dug up a interview awhile back from "Terrible Tom" Silverstein which showed him to be very articulate, despite his "no human contact" custody status.. I recently read Edward Bunker's "Education of a Felon" and he wrote of some time he did in The Folsom Adjustment Center, and about how one morning during exercise a brutal stabbing took place and how Joe Morgan hollered to him after the frey, "just another day in 4A", and laughed his laugh.. I'm not a cheerleader. I'm not enamored beyond reason with these characters, but you have to admit, especially when you've seen the prison enviros first-hand that these are (mostly were) some mean mo-fos....... Now to the Sopranos. I'm knowing DQ did'nt get even close with his predictions..

What really matters in retirement:
The real measures of success
Robust health, close friends, warm family relationships and engaging activities are what really constitute a happy retirement, says Ralph "Jake" Warner, co-founder of Nolo Press, the legal self-help publisher. Yeah guys, the free stuff.

*********

Wally why do post sophomoric comments like the one above which are obviously meant to incite a negative response from a few of us. These types of anonymous condescending people are the ones who are destroying your blog.

Wally,
The above response to the retirement post from "Mr. Krazy", who else, is a laughingly obtuse misunderstanding of the post. Retirement _happiness_ is not based on monetary accumulation. An extra scoop of intellect, perceptivity, and wisdom for my friend across the aisle. A bit thick of him not to get the point of the post. You need not be a Homer and Jethro Log Cabin Republican to enjoy retiremnet.

CITY ATTORNEY DELGADILLO SECURES 1,013-DAY JAIL SENTENCE FOR GANG INJUNCTION VIOLATOR

Gang Banger Must Now Serve Full Sentence as Part of Delgadillo’s New ‘100%’ Partnership With Sheriff BacaLOS ANGELES –

Los Angeles City Attorney Rocky Delgadillo today announced he has secured a 1,013-day jail sentence against a member of the San Fernando Valley’s notorious Langdon Street criminal street gang after the gang banger repeatedly violated a court-imposed gang injunction.Juan ‘lil youngster’ Carillo, 19, had previously been convicted of violating the terms and conditions of the Langdon Street gang injunction on five separate occasions between January and December of 2006. Violations have included gang recruitment, association with known gang members, trespassing, criminalthreats and carrying a firearm.Based on the habitual pattern of violating terms of the injunction, the court todaysentenced Carillo to 1,013 days in county jail for violating terms of probation in all five prior cases. The sentence will be enforced under the new ‘100 Percent’ anti-gang program –a project designed by City Attorney Delgadillo and Sheriff Lee Baca to ensure L.A. County gang members jailed for gang injunction violations serve their full sentences. The program is part of a series of anti-gang measures recentlyoutlined by Delgadillo as part of his comprehensive anti-gang plan for the City of Los Angeles – a program that focuses on prevention, intervention, suppression, and eradication.Under this new ‘100%’ program, upon the successful prosecution of ganginjunction violations by the City Attorney’s Office, the defendants’ commitment papers will be flagged to notify the Sheriff’s Department that they will not be eligible for early release. The City Attorney and the Sheriff had already informally begun implementing aspects of the plan prior to its formal unveiling a few weeks ago, agreeing to have several gang members convicted on injunction violations serve their full jail sentences. They included a Canoga Park Alabama gang member, three Blythe Street Gang members, and a member of the Bounty Hunters gang. Gangenhancements on those convictions resulted in sentences between 270 and 725 days in jail.###NEWSFrom the Office of the City Attorney ROCKARD J. DELGADILLO

"Mexican-American inmates are said to be at a disadvantage making the formation of gangs essential. First off, they are faced with a language barrier, and the inability to verbally communicate with other inmates often causes disputes leading to violence"

^^^ This has to be the cop that was doing a seminar in Modesto a few years back and said that Nortenos are gang members north of the U.S./MEXICO BORDER, and Surenos south.

OOOOOooooops.

Pacoimero/others,

I came across this list while googling "Toonerville Rifa" and also dug up some pretty interesting pieces as well. I cannot recall the website/blog, but when I get home this evening I will re-do the steps and provide more info on the site. There are also some really old pics of the Toonerville Trolley and Dogpatch, as well as some old school photos of Varrios and vatos from the 50's, 60's, and 1970's. It took a while to find, but I came across it. I will definitely cough it up by tomorrow. Pacoimero, I am still trying to solcit info on MK 13 and Poserz 13 (LAX). Any tidbits on these two Varrios? Street gangs in America are not a product of Mexican immigrants. So, to focus on illegal immigration as a primary tactic to end American street gangs would be like getting attacked by a terrorist organization, and in turn attacking a country that had nothing to do with it. Between law enforcement and national defense, the powers that be in this country are looking more and more like the Three Stooges."

Once again, you are being so selective in applying your deductive reasoning to things thst only further your wack logic. You know good and well that you are talking about 2 subjects that completely correlate. Oh but I forgot, it makes perfect sense that Surenos hate Nortenos because the LAPD hasn't whupped their asses enough. You are a LOAD, dude.

The IRS sucks
Can I say that Wally?

I'm pissed, pissed, pissed.

Up until half an hour ago, I was contemplating how to spend my tax return. The top choice was a new computer (Mac, of course), which would conveniently double as a birthday present to myself.

But alas. The tides have turned.

Two years ago I got back about $100; last year I got $66. But I never imagined that this year I would have to pay---get this---$812.

This is so wrong. And actually, I think it is. As near as I can tell, somehow my W-2 lists three exemptions instead of only one, so they're not taking enough tax out of my paychecks. Thus, by claiming only one exemption now, I have to make up the difference. It wouldn't be so bad if they took more money from me to begin with and then gave some of it back. But when I earned that money and put it in my bank account, it became mine. So giving it back now is...inane. Ridiculous. Stupid. (Unfair.)

You know what this means? I need to get out there and start creating dependents to claim.

Or maybe I'll just go do some yoga and nurse my indignation.

An average Anglo who likes this blog.

So, are you ever going to come up with a better reason for Surenos historically having a more violent tendency than Nortenos than that of Surenos being on the receiving end of a police baton far more frequently, up until 1992, when the public finally started keeping an eye on the LAPD for that sort of thing?

Just come up with a better reason. That's all I'm asking.

I understand that rules amongst criminal organizations are rarely followed. I was merely pointing out that both EME and Cosa Nostra do have rules about taking a swing at a higher ranking member.

Despite our differences, interesting parallel you drew between the line on the Sopranos last night about 'farmers', and the similarity between New York wiseguys' outlook on New Jersey and Surenos' outlook on Nortenos.

whats up peeps, just responding to jose619,
what i see about that list of rips is that it has only certain hoods, if you read that and think thats the only 187s then your way off, and if it seems like theres hella mkn or cvtf or 18st its or even eight tray its probably because whoever made it has homies from there or saw stats on them somewhere esle, it doesnt say that mkn was having a war with one or more hoods and the enemies werent getting smoked left and right too, its just that the rips from their enemies arent there, for one it has rips from the west LA 18s but not that many from the downtown central LA or even south side and north side 18s,
its a lopsided list, i saw another list like this before and it was the same thing, i know es evergreen had like 25 rips just in like 2 years in the mid 90s, cypresspark boys, i think tortilla flats was going at it with 155, yet theres no 155 rips, and that hood is almost not around anymore when they were one of the biggest n compton so you know they have alot of rips somewhere, mexican klan is in acrazy area though, the fact their even still around shows they arent always slipping,
its pretty hard to find gang info on the web though, i came to this site for the first time like in 04 or whenever that fool huero was all on the news, this is pretty much the best one though, i only posted like once a year until recently since now i have alot of time on my hands,
i know one website is called sleepylagoon.com, they have alot of placazos and some old ones too, then theres one other one that has hella old pics from the early 70s pretty much from harbor area gangs but there is one pic that shows like half a toonerville placazo from 71, i always tried to find info on tvr but never really came up with much, when i was in the hood the story i heard was that they were around since 1942 but i didnt really believe it though, after seeing a placazo in sleepy lagoon and one on this other site from 71 it at least confirmed we werent one of the football team hoods that came up in the 80s,
avenues is from at least 65, which is older than i thought too, then i heard burbank trece is the oldest hood in burbank, i always thought it was elmwood, then esclover is older than lincoln heights, then temple and clanton turned out to be the oldest hoods in la, i grew up thinking it was maravilla and white fence,
maravilla is another hood that has no rips on the list, yeah that list is nice but it doesnt have even 10% of the rips for whatever time it covers,
alright then later

That list that 619 printed was from some tagger who runs a website dedicated to old school taggers. Seen that list many times and new some names on there. Most of the RIP's were ex-taggers that people sent thier names to that sight to pay their respects. Nothing more, nothing less.

On another note, Mexican Klan 13 aka MKN 13 is a small gang that has major beef with ATC 13 (Alley Tiny Criminals) and Harpys 13. They also have a nasty beef with the 42 or 43 or 48 Gangsta Crips. One of those sets. They are known to write "Mexican Killing Niggers" as oppose to Mexican Klan on the walls. Their hangout is on Denker and some other streets. In the West L.A area. Some of their cliks are the Nightowls, Crazy Gnagsters, Dukes, and Traviesos. Anyways just some info.

Rewards Offered For Info In Deadly Shootings
(CBS) LOS ANGELES The Los Angeles City Council offered $125,000 worth of rewards Tuesday for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for two separate shootings that resulted in the deaths of three people.

The council offered a $75,000 reward for information about the shooting deaths of a man and a teenager in South Los Angeles last month.

Rafael Rivera, 33, and Nelly Rodriguez, 16, were getting into a car in the 800 block of East 31st Street when someone riding a bicycle fired several shots at them around 11:40 a.m. March 17, according to police.

Rivera died at the scene and Rodriguez died the next day at a hospital.

The council also offered a $50,000 reward for information on the shooting death of a 34-year-old woman in South Los Angeles last month.

Laura Sanchez and her 17-year-old son were driving home when suspects in three separate vehicles pulled up next to them and fired several shots around 10 p.m. March 18 in the 4500 block of Long Beach Avenue, according to police.

Sanchez died at the scene.

Dude, I think that because we might have put a man on the moon is probably a better reason than the one you come up with. How about gang culture has been glorified down here for a longer time, therefore attracting more participants? Are you gauging the level of violence on attrition and body count? How 'bout there is a larger population in so cal and more friggin people on top of each other down here? Furthermore, the way I see it, there's more bullshit going down in the streets since 92 because now the cops can't thump these fools. Assholes used to be scared of cops. Now they stand around and cheer with impunity when a cop is shot...guarantee they didn't do that pre-92. Oh but I forgot, you'd probably cheer too, you dick.

It would absolutely and logically be a primary tactic. By the way, wasn't it you who was railing on the gov't for creating a scrum in El Salvador by deporting MS13 gang members who were here illegally? Yes it was you, and don't make me go search for it.

Bobby "Bacala" Baccalieri's goin to Hell..Once he had it all, just broke bones in his collections. Thumped some degenerate gamblers for debt, swung some bats for the union.. Now he's had to take a life on Tony's order.Granted it was just a skinny drummer from some alt-band in Canada, but a life nonetheless.. His stability within the family has been solidified despite his brawl with the boss. Don't think for a minute that the act won't go unnoticed. Guys like Paulie Walnuts respect bloodletting by contract, with its unquestioning loyalty, but if Tony cops to where he got those bruises came from all bets are off. Our earlier commenter who wondered whether the writers had taken "artisitic license" with the story is right in my view..La Cosa Nostra never would have tolerated such an act. It undermines the oath and the blind obedience required for such machines to run smooth. IN THE OLD DAYS!!!

I've got a photo of the 1973 softball championship team from the Lewisburg pen, comprised almost wholly of mafiosi. In that photo is a guy named Salvatore "Sally" De Vita, a transvestite hood, along with 3 or 4 cons who later became rats for the Govt.

This photo is of THE LATER DAYS! The times that signaled the end of a pretty good run by a crime organization..These guys mostly folded under extreme pressure or succeeded in getting put in the hat by trying to withdraw and go straight..

I have no doubt that some form of LCN illicite moneys are still circulating within NY rackets, but it's become multi-racial and like all things that survive has learned to adapt..

I took that you tube tour over to Lady Pink's blowout. Scuse me all ta hell, but that Lokote is a bonafied fatmouth. I wanna watch his right incisor pop out of his head when he finally opens his last beer with it..See I can talk like that because i'm heavily armed and barricaded in a secret location in Kansas!!! But I do kind of like his music, good fades and effects, but his lyrics are flat-out rude...Rude sells...

The majority of Gang Members in the US are not Illegals nor are they specifically mexican or latino......you have your facts totally wrong.
Since 9/11 - America hate muslim, Arabs, if you even resemble a middle Eastern, your hated.....period. All cultures are now on the Crap list. Even the 7-11 guys are going down on this one. White Americans only love them when you win the freaking lottery. Then, you move away, and you care less about the immigration issue but you will sure hire them for your so called "Landscaping Projects". (its called a Mexican Gardener pinche pendejos)
Just like WWII - Americans locked up the Japanese American (including 2nd generations) in Concentration Camps for no criminal charges or due process but straight revenge for the Pearl Habor attack. Then we dropped two bombs on Japan - just to see which one worked better, you know, the America government called it a experimental neccessity. Now we drive their Toyotas, Hondas, and cry that they are kicking our asses in global economics.
How about the Blacks being given their rights at the state level in the 1940s-1960s. White America again refused to allow this and just contributed to the continued social isolation, racism, and made certain that the poor Blacks (and Mexicans in Texas) stayed in their own crappy communities. THis is were you idiots hate us. Its called moving up the social economical ladder.
What was America's Big Pink Scare era all about - against artist and liberal Hollywood voicing their individual opinions....isn't it called Freedom of Speech?
When C.Chaplin tried to make America wake up from the Nazi's genocide against the Jews and the German gas chambers...America looked the other way and continued to do big business transactions with Germany companies under the control of the Nazi Regime. Even England secretly gave the US a Warning on "The Jews Situation" but ignored it. Whats good for American big business boys is not always good for the White uneducated American working class. It's the same old repeated story with the Immigration issue.
You anti-immigration guys cry and bitch for a wall to be built on the Mexican Border. But who got caught building it - Illegals?.
Honestly, I can go into numerous examples of the early 1940s attacks against the Mexican American suit zooters in Los Angeles to the 1970 attacks against Mexicans in Laguna Park and death of Salazar. I can talk all day about the Black community issues in Los Angeles and US, the Chinese killings and Massacres of 1871 in Los Angeles. Then tell you how Whites murder blacks prior to the chinese massacre and we got a street with a nice ring to it, "Calle de los Negros". I can even give you facts on Jesus Christ not being GOD. WIll you believe me, NO ...because your all uneducated idiots that have no higher level of education or ended up inheriting a moron comprehension from your parents and neighbors......just your typical white idiot Americans and a couple of latino sell-out law enforcement officers included.

How about this for an ending?

At the end of season 7 the camera pans to a very "normal" looking Christopher in a modest office in a middle class home.

He calls in his plain housewife Adriana to read the final line of his masterpiece.....the Sopranos.

Throughout the years Christopher’s interest in screenplays has been influential in almost every season. What better way to end it, than to have the viewers realize none of the characters are real, and the last 7 seasons were all a screenplay written by Christopher?

I think the traffic cop played by Charles S. Dutton(spelling?)who stopped Tony and Carmella after their first meeting with Melfi, is the one who eventually takes out Tony. Zelman got his over-time knocked out and made the comment that he was "wound too tight" and basically he was a head case that nobody liked anyway........just a hunch, seems like a lot of time spend on an insignificant character....Furio is too obvious...janice is my second choice, she has the stones to do to her bro what she did to Richie

The real world would have had Tony S. dead by now and most of his crew, except for Silvio, in the river. I see Tony surviving,Furio bumped off,Paulie realizing he is backing the wrong boss,Dr.Melfi having an affair with Tony and Carmella enjoying her life as the Boss's wife. Phil will have Christopher knocked off and Tony will reciprocate and have Phil and Little Carmine disappear.

Anonymous said...

Here's my list of people who will probably get clipped before the end of the series.

Paulie - popular demand is too great, return of the russian!!

Uncle Junior - he's tried everything in the book to get off the hook with his legal problems ... except flipping.

Johnny Sack - Hopefully, by Tony's own hand in a way that's "undignified".

Phil Leotardo - fallout from a war between Tony and Johnny (remember Mikey?)

A.J. - The series is ending and he is still too young to really get involved, but stupid enough to try.

Tony - Either Christopher or Silvio do it.

Anonymous said...

The show, like most good fiction, is full of red herrings. I can say with total confidence that:

The Russian commando will not come back

Adriana is really dead and they will not find her body

Uncle Junior will not flip (that's ridiculous)

AJ will not join his father's business

Furio will not be back

The cop (charles dutton) will not be back

The only thing that David Chase has shown us again and again is that the show is totally unpredictable.

The majority of Gang Members in the US are not Illegals nor are they specifically mexican or latino......you have your facts totally wrong.

*********

I guess all those sureno gangs in California and it’s homies are from Japan or Israel. What word are you living in, Los Angeles is the gang capital of the WORLD not just the United States and most gang members are latinos even if you don’t like it.

Do you think Mayor Villaraigosa (ex ACLU) made gangs a top priority just for kicks? You just need to visit any Los Angeles school like Belmont to see the number of gangs in schools. What is one of the major topics on this blog? Could it be the prevention of gangs in the latino community?

All the seniors here are only talking about the Sopranos but the better show for us young bucks is Entourage. Will Vince bring back Arie as his agent? Can Arie really get the lead role in the Medellin movie for Vince? That was an awesome party Turtle planned for Vince’s birthday.

I wonder who is going to sleep with Vince’s new hot looking agent.

L.A. police immigrant policy faces another test
A group of city residents is preparing a challenge to the longtime LAPD policy that prohibits officers from inquiring about suspects' status.
By Patrick McGreevy and Richard Winton, Times Staff Writers
8:55 PM PDT, April 10, 2007

The Los Angeles Police Department's landmark Special Order 40, which prohibits officers from inquiring about the immigration status of suspects, has come under an aggressive assault by anti-illegal immigrant activists who argue that it ties the hands of police.

The nearly 30-year-old policy has long been controversial, but the current national debate about illegal immigration has prompted lawsuits that are aimed at overturning Special Order 40 and similar rules across the country.

Los Angeles was the first major city to enact the "don't-ask-don't-tell" policy on illegal immigration, though most other police agencies have followed suit. So the outcome of the legal challenges could have a widespread effect.

The latest challenge would come this week, with a lawsuit that would ask a judge to require that the LAPD inform federal immigration officials when illegal immigrants are arrested on drug charges.

The suit, which is endorsed by the Federal Immigration Reform Enforcement Coalition and is scheduled to be filed as early as today, cites an obscure state code that appears to require local police to report to federal authorities the names of any illegal immigrant arrested on suspicion of drug trafficking or possession.

The city is already gearing up for a trial over another Special Order 40 challenge that has been filed by another anti-illegal immigration group, the Washington D.C.-based Judicial Watch. That group argues that the order is unconstitutional.

In both cases, plaintiffs said, they are supported by rank-and-file police officers who don't like the policy but are afraid to speak out publicly because Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and Police Chief William J. Bratton are vocal proponents of it.

Some officers are calling on the Los Angeles police union board of directors to consider, for the first time, taking a formal position of Special Order 40. The board plans to discuss the issue soon.

"We have heard there is concern among the members," said Bob Baker, president of the Police Protective League, on Tuesday.

Some legal experts said Tuesday that they were intrigued by the anti-illegal immigrant forces' use of a section of the state's Health and Safety Code to attack Special Order 40. The section, which was written in 1972, states that in drug possession and trafficking cases involving a non-citizen, "the arresting agency shall notify the appropriate agency of the United States having charge of deportation."

"This is going to be an interesting issue," said Gerald F. Uelman, a law professor at Santa Clara University.

Uelman said that although the challenge was novel, Los Angeles officials could argue that questioning the immigration status only of drug offenders violates the Constitution's Equal Protection Clause.

"What is the rational basis for choosing drug offenses over violent crimes?" Uelmen said.

Politically, Special Order 40 remains very popular at L.A. City Hall — with supporters saying that it ensures that the members of the city's many immigrant communities will cooperate with police without fearing deportation.

Villaraigosa repeated his strong support for the policy Tuesday.

"I agree with Chief Bratton and every police chief before him that requiring our police officers to double as immigration agents will result in fewer arrests, prosecutions and convictions," he said.

But the policy — and similar ones elsewhere in the United States — have become the focus of debates in the blogsphere and on cable news shows and talk radio.

Last week, national television and radio commentator Bill O'Reilly criticized Bratton for refusing to enforce the law against illegal immigrants.

The debate comes as cities debate how to deal with illegal immigrants. Some cities, such as Maywood, which is south of downtown Los Angeles, have dubbed themselves "sanctuary cities" that attempt to treat illegal immigrants like citizens.

But elsewhere — including in Orange County — law enforcement officials have forged stronger ties with federal immigration officials. Orange County sheriff's deputies and Costa Mesa police officers undergo training by immigration officials.

"Dude, I think that because we might have put a man on the moon is probably a better reason than the one you come up with. Oh but I forgot, you'd probably cheer too, you dick."

Just where and when did a bunch of people 'cheer' when a cop was shot? Did this really happen, or is this a bad dream you've been having?

Why should anyone be afraid of the cops? Is the function of law enforcement in a free republic to intimidate the public, in your opinion? Our nation's founding fathers sure didn't think so.

If there is more bullshit going down in the streets since '92, why did gang murders drop in the late '90s?

Los Angeles is the third largest city, population wise. Yet, Los Angeles wound up with the distinction of being the 'gang capitol of the world'. So, I'm not buying the population as a reason for Sureno gangs being more violent than Norteno gangs, especially considering that a great deal of Norteno gang members in the early N.F. days were from the South San Francisco area, which had as dense of a population as L.A.

I don't understand what you mean by gang culture being 'glorified', nor do I even know what you mean by 'gang culture', come to think of it. Gangs themselves, almost all of them, started off as neighborhood groups defending themselves from racist Whites, including the cops. Read about 38th Street and Sleepy Lagoon, or also the Zoot Suit riots.

Let me ask you this, are you simply in denial of the history of the LAPD's unlawful, violent behavior toward L.A.'s Black and Mexican residents, or are you aware of it and trying to distract people from it, perhaps maybe even trying to distract yourself?

"SNS, please address this. How can you say that stemming the flow of illegal immigrants wouldn't have an impact on gang violence when so many gangsters are in fact illegal immigrants? It would absolutely and logically be a primary tactic. By the way, wasn't it you who was railing on the gov't for creating a scrum in El Salvador by deporting MS13 gang members who were here illegally? Yes it was you, and don't make me go search for it. "

My point on gangs and Mexicans was that these gangs are a product of the United States of America. They didn't exist before California was considered part of the United States, yet, the Mexicans were here all along, despite many of their relatives forced to a desert below what is now the border due to a barbaric, unnecessary occupation by the United States, and racist border policies that would ensue.

flavio, I like the prediction of Silvio being a rat. Makes perfect sense, considering how quick he was let out after being busted at Jackie Aprile Jr's funeral. But Adrianna not being whacked? Too good to be true. Ade's gone. As far as Sil not could having been able to kill her for being on the fed payroll, heard of the Black Widow operation against NF here in California? Lizard Hernandez ordered that Cap's saloon murder in Salas and the feds looked the other way. I doubt it stops with Latino prison gangs...I remember one of local Monterey cops on that 'our family' pbs documentary; "It's just how we do things in this world". Sil whacked Ade, I'm certain. He's a far bigger witness than Adrianna. Ade could only build up predicates. Sil is the Sammy Gravano of Jersey. He knows enough to put the DeMeo family (actual name, according to Soprano folklore) out of business, for good.

SNS, technically there was no death scene. Most Sopranos killings are excessively graphic, but Adriana’s whacking took place entirely off camera. Adriana starts crawling away from Sil, and he follows her, gun raised. Once they exit the frame, we hear two gun shots. We hear no screams, and there’s no visual confirmation that Sil hit his target. We know from her many fights with Christopher that Adriana is extremely vocal when experiencing pain. Unless the first shot killed her instantly, I can’t believe we wouldn’t have heard a single scream?

"Just where and when did a bunch of people 'cheer' when a cop was shot? Did this really happen, or is this a bad dream you've been having?"

-SNS, I wish it were a bad dream...
From the LA Times:
"Officers at the scene reported that members of a neighborhood gang stood by taunting them as they tried to help the wounded Ripatti, said LAPD Capt. James Craig, head of the Southwest Division, who arrived after Ripatti had been taken by ambulance to California Hospital.

Such confrontations, pitting groups of onlookers against police officers and even paramedics, have occurred after other shootings in South L.A. But the events Craig described were especially disquieting, with officers attempting to treat the critically wounded Ripatti while dealing with a threatening crowd."

SNS Said:
"Why should anyone be afraid of the cops? Is the function of law enforcement in a free republic to intimidate the public, in your opinion? Our nation's founding fathers sure didn't think so."

-I say that the only ones who should fear the cops are those who choose a lifestyle that thumbs their nose at not only the law but at law-abiding society and its members, like you and me. The function of law enforcement is to enforce law. Also, anyone in their right mind would not advocate the police intimidating the "public" for no reason...I say reserve it only for those who deserve intimidation

SNS said:
"If there is more bullshit going down in the streets since '92, why did gang murders drop in the late '90s?"

-Bullshit is an umbrella term for so much more than just gang murders. I'm talking about many things such as, but not limited to: general disrespect for humanity, law, LE and society. I'm talking about the kinder gentler repercussions that criminals have. I'm talking about the attractiveness that the 'gang lifestyle' has become to young, impressionable kids..just to name a few.

-So what you are saying is that these SF guys are pretty friggin violent too? I thought you said Sur was more violent? How do you gauge violence anyway? Do you have a Violence-o-meter?

SNS said:

-Selective-listener No Script, please. Just the fact that we are on this site is proof of glorification of the gang culture and lifestyle. You are obviously an active observer, and probably a purveyor of gang websites, clips on You Tube, gang myspace pages, ad nauseum. You have heard the Game rap about Cedar Block and Compton and I have even read your rant once or twice of cops rousting poor innocent kids with shaved heads and baggy pants who weren't gang members, but just dressed like them-GUESS WHAT? That's gang lifestyle and culture and you know it. Its got nothing to do with the origin of Sleepy Lagoon or other things that happened when my Grampa was a boy.

Then SNS said:
"Let me ask you this, are you simply in denial of the history of the LAPD's unlawful, violent behavior toward L.A.'s Black and Mexican residents, or are you aware of it and trying to distract people from it, perhaps maybe even trying to distract yourself?"

This question is way off the original point..which was your way-out theory that concerned Surenos, Nortenos and the beat downs (or lack of) by the LAPD. It has nothing to do with bad cops and their historical attitude towards law-abiding Black and Mexican residents...please stick to the point. But if this was the point, the last thing I'd try to do is distract people from it. I think that shitty behavior from anyone, cops included, should come with repercussions.

Finally, SNS said:
"My point on gangs and Mexicans was that these gangs are a product of the United States of America. They didn't exist before California was considered part of the United States, yet, the Mexicans were here all along, despite many of their relatives forced to a desert below what is now the border due to a barbaric, unnecessary occupation by the United States, and racist border policies that would ensue."

-If that was your point, then why wouldn't you have said "So, to focus on illegal immigration as a primary tactic to end American street gangs would be like the US getting attacked by a terrorist organization, and in turn attacking ourselves." instead of what you said? It appeared that you were discussing primary tactics on dealing with gangs...hmm.
I can only comment on your first sentence, because the part that follows is just, well, um...anyway.
Dude, we can continue to look back on why certain things are the way they are and dwell upon them...OR we can deal in the "now" and actually take steps to do something about them. If violent gang members are here illegally and are committing crimes against humanity (which happens to include law-abiding, hard-working, legal AND illegal immigrants) then they simply have no right to be here.

You can't draw meaningful comparisons between California society circa 1860 and California society now. No society in any developed country is anything like it was 150 years ago. But you can compare the incidence of violent crime in Mexico today with that in the U.S. today. The fact is that violent crime is much more prevalent in Mexico than it is here. One example is the murder rate, which is 3 times higher in Mexico than in the U.S. (http://www.nationmaster.com/graph/cri_mur_percap-crime-murders-per-capita).

In reply to all comments regarding MEXICAN KLAN - MKN
A lot of people think its MK but it has been MKN since the start. M is for Mexican and K is for Klan and the N well thats the last letter in Klan. Started off on the West Side of Los Angeles as a crew. Most people say yeah they were taggers but the truth is that MKN was started as a crew of friends who were pround to be mexican. They had taggers, rockers, skaters and even a few gangsters in MKN. Some of the older ones say it was a football team because they always played football against other crews, taggers, or gangs. MKN came up on Normandie Ave from 30th Pl to King Blvd. They had clicks and hang outs every 3 or 4 blocks so they kept it pretty tight. A few of the main hang outs were Normandie and Jefferson, Normandie and 35 St, Normandie and 37 St, Normandie and 39 st, and Denker and King. They were never deep in numbers but they held it down. The main beef was with Harpys / Dead End 13. Then later on with ATC13. In the late 90's, the MKN's were pushed south down Normandie due to many members getting busted. Also, city officials came and removed many MKN members from their homes and evicted a few from some apartments where a few of them used to live. The south end of MKN hood was Denker and King and the north end was getting pushed and it got pushed from 35 St to 39 St so that made MKN's turf smaller. The remaining area for MKN is from Normandie on the east to Denker on the west and 39 St on the north and King on the south. This is West Side Mexican Klan. They also started up an East Side click. 47 and Broadway is the main spot and 47 and Central is the other. Just like on Normandie, MKN is currently trying to fill in the gaps in order to claim all of 47 St starting at Broadway and going east all the way to Hooper. The West Side MKN members are usually found on the East Side. West Side MKN is pretty much done. Their is only a few active West Side MKN members, so you wont hear much about them from the West. That I know of, I think theres like over 7 MKN's that have passed. The beef with the 42 43 48 gangster crip is a nasty one. The racial anger and emotions spilled out into the streets and MKN soon began beef with Broadway Gangster Crips. The West Side has 2 clicks, DKS- DUKES LTS - LOS TRAVIESOS. Anyone claiming WS MKN is usually over 30 years old. The East Side has 2 clicks, CGS - Crazy Gangsters NOS- Night Owls. The East Side members range from age 14 and up.
