OC REGISTER OFF THE RAILS
I don't want to beat the "clueless reporter" thing to death but I was just made aware of the OC Register's story on the SANA bust. The reader who sent it to me underlined the relevant sentences. The reporters, LARRY WELBORN and RACHANEE SRISAVASDI, are talking about SANA and his past.

"Once, the repeat criminal tried to turn away from crime. In 1992, Ojeda unsuccessfully tried to broker a gang truce among local street gangs to stop a spree of drive-by killings."

I have no idea how they came to this bizarre conclusion or who they talked to, but it's clearly bogus. It will probably stand uncorrected and eventually cited as gospel by someone down the road.

On another topic, I want to send out props to everyone that comments. I've noticed the haters have either decamped to other sites or changed their confrontational manner to one that's more respectful. I'm even more gratified to hear from people in the neighborhoods and those who have been through the county and state systems. You're helping make this site what I want it to be. Namely, a place to get the straight deal without the filters.

someone needs to acknowledge the fact that throughout to 70's there was heavy nf activity throughout socal, primarily in the inland empire, ventura, orange and especially santa barbara counties.anyone care to shed some light on this socal secret?I can personally speak for ventura county, we had dudes out here like eddie ortega, g-booya, and death row joe gonzalez all hailing out of oxnards la colonia, and richard "huero" dean from ventura avenue, along with a good amount of cats from santa paula, stomping grounds to the only made brother from the VC toto lopez.

im a 29 year old ventura county resident that would like to thank this website and its contributors. all too often we've all been fed a bunch of b.s. by a bunch of wannbe gang-experts.'bout time i found a place where theres some people who actually know what time it is.

i look forward to pitching in when i can. my knowledge on EME activities in the ventura county area is extensive, so i'd like to start by answering a question i read a few months back concerning known EMEros from this region.long story short, there's only one made carnal from the VC, name's toto from santa paula 12th street criminales. hes been made for quite some time now but ive got it on a few good sources that this guy holds very little sway over EME dealings both upstate and on the streets. though the saying goes that all EME carnales have an equal say in things, reality has proven otherwise.while the EME has no formal chain of command, there is a select group of carnales who truly run the show.
back to the VC scene: there was at one point a good issue of made brothers, most of them hailing from el rio, a small neighborhood lcommonly referred to as the armpit of oxnard.let's see, they had top, wingwang, joe david (JD), and chapo.one would think that onards la colnia chiques would boast a good number of brothers, but ironically they were known for their nf involvement during the 1960s and 70s. vnetura county always has a lot of promising soldiers, but none of these dudes seem to ever make the final cut. alot of that has to do with the fact that VC was so sympathetic to the farmero movement for so long. ventura avenida's elias"shorty"casteneda and ivan "weasel" stine, loma flats chiques'"sluggo",and la colonia's pete "penguino" zuniga all had potential careers, but all fell victim to the game.
